Courtney Taylor (1 Viewer)

Looking for serious opinions on this guy. Does he have any real value this year? The past few seasons have seen Seahawks wr's raise up and provide some real value (Jurevicious, Hackett, Engram). Does Taylor have the ability to perform or is he playing out of place? Can this guy perform as a #2 wr for the Seahawks or has he been forced into a role he can't compete at? He was targeted 9 times on Sunday but only had 2 catches (and 3 drops) for 19 yards.

He'll have plenty of opportunities with injuries to WRs, a more healthy Hass, and defenses worse than Buf (at Buf). Hang on to him.

Logan Payne. :) Taylor is bad. I quit counting after his third drop.
Why should we conclude as you evidently have that this was anything more than just a bad game?
It's one thing to be up against a tough D, or to not be able to get open, or to even have a mistake on the field. But this was a guy who Hasselback was trying to get involved in teh gameplan early and often, and could not deliver. He was targeted 9 times but only made 2 catches, with, as noted, more than a few drops.I'm all about giving the guy the benefit of a doubt, and his sheer situation of being one of the only healthy bodies still standing makes him somewhat attractive, but I'd rather take on a WR2 with more upside like Patten or Henderson, who are on teams that look a little more offensively solid than Seattle, than take a chance on Taylor right now.

I was a believer that Taylor would get opportunity this year and his 9 targets prove that. Obviously he was bad. I am giving him one more week. Now that Burleson is out too, no doubt that he should see similar targets. If he has "issues" again this week, he's as good as gone.

Just an observation...Dwayne Bowe caught something like 3 of 11 targets. They may not give up on Courtney yet....

WR Depth

#1 Taylor

#2 Payne

#3 McMullen

#4 Wallace

I would not be surprised to see Wallace return punts also.

Taylor did nothing in preseason, and looked lost on Sunday. It would be interesting to see his targets in the 4th qrt because it appears that Hasselbeck was favoring Kent and Payne.

If your starting a Seattle WR I go with Payne, and I suggest you try now to get Engram or Branch because when they return they will be force fed the ball out of frustration.

All the remaining hawks receivers are just RAW. Wallace is probably the best but I doubt they use him as much as they should. It's gonna be a tough season.

I think the coaching staff believes that Taylor can succeed. They've been talking him up as this potentially great receiver since last year...unfortunately, when it was time for him to perform, it looked like he was afraid to catch the ball.

I don't think they're going to give up on him yet (nor can they afford to, since they're so thin). I expect a bunch of throws to go his way again. If he actually catches the ball, who knows, maybe he gets some confidence and he starts living up to expectations.

I agree that even if he performs moderately well, his value plummets with the return of Branch and/or Engram, so I'm not sure what the point is of rostering any of these guys other than a fill-in if you had Burleson and Colston or are waiting for Smith to come back.

Payne is awful.By the way, 4th quarter targets: Kent -5; Taylor-4; Payne-1

It's going to get worse, I'm afraid. They just lost their starting right tackle for the season. They can't run and they don't have any receivers to keep defenses honest, so he's going to get hit--a lot. With his back already iffy, I doubt he can stay healthy.

September 10, 2008, 14:23Seahawks :: WRHC Holmgren Says WR Taylor Could Lose JobFrank Hughes, Tacoma News-Tribune - [Full Article]Yesterday, Seattle Seahawks HC Mike Holmgren said starting WR Courtney Taylor's job may be in jeopardy after he dropped two passes against the Bills. There is the chance that backup quarterback Seneca Wallace could start at either flanker or split end.

What about Carlson? Any chance they start to get him more involved? How has he looked so far??
