Steelers fans make me miss "the good old days" when I had to listen to the Patriots fans crow.
I thought Pats fans were the most annoying and overbearing fans ever.
I was wrong.

That guy must have drank the same thing I did at the Super Bowl!
The Steelers beat the #1, #2, and #3 seeds in the AFC and the #1 seed in the NFC, none of which were played at home. Please tell me which team was more deserving. The difference between Patriots fans and Steelers fans is that even though the Patriots fans were annoying and talked trash, most people knew deep down they had the best team, best coach, etc.
However, other than Steelers fans, I don't think you are going to find too many people that think the best team in the NFL got the Lombardi trophy this year.
Often times the best team doesn't win the championship. If you're going to say the Steelers aren't the best team this year, how could you possibly say the Pats team that won in 2001 was the best team? You don't think the Rams were a better team that year? The difference between Patriots fans and Steelers fans is that even though the Patriots fans were annoying and talked trash, most people knew deep down they had the best team, best coach, etc.

I guess they should just give the trophy to the team with the best record at the end of the season, because obvioulsy THAT is the measuring stick for the best team. So congrats Colts fans, you guys are the champs this year.Oh but wait, I guess that the Pats have to give up last year's trophy to the Steelers because PIT finished 15-1 last year and was the best team. The difference between Patriots fans and Steelers fans is that even though the Patriots fans were annoying and talked trash, most people knew deep down they had the best team, best coach, etc.

A majority of the football fans believe the Steelers only beat Cincy because of the injury to Palmer. A majority of the football fans believe they won the Super Bowl game as a result of poor officiating. No matter how much posturing is done by Steelers fans the 05/06 season is going to be viewed by many like the first election of W. The legitimacy will always be questioned. What exactly is your point? Fans don't decide the outcome of the game. A majority of fans also believe the 2001 Pats should have been knocked out in the first round against the Raiders if not for the ridiculous tuck rule. Oh and by the way--considering Palmer got hurt on the first play of the game, I don't see how any knowledgable and impartial fan could even begin to predict what would or could have happened in that game if he had played. You have absolutely no idea if Palmer could have overcome the 14 point difference in that game.A majority of the football fans believe the Steelers only beat Cincy because of the injury to Palmer. I'm sorry this is a thread about Cowher being a tool in 2006, not the Patriots in 2001. The two teams do have one thing in common. The game is played on the GridIron, not on paper. The team that wins the Super Bowl is the best team that season, plain and simple. There is no asterik put on the trophy. Love the posturing with the "what if" game. The fact is that the Steelers made an incredible run, and won the big game. This is the Steelers we are talking about. Four times in the last TEN years they made it to the AFC Championship game (six times if you count the last twelve years, with NE and Denver at 3 each). I am sorry, but Cincy was not going to knock out the Steelers, and we know what they did to the other teams. Here is your * for the 2001 Patriots Team: On the same play, the game film shows that Raider safety Charles Woodson was guilty of roughing Brady by slapping him in the head. Had it been called, it would have resulted in a 15 yard penalty against the Raiders and would have made whether Brady tucked the ball or not a moot point. The Steelers beat the #1, #2, and #3 seeds in the AFC and the #1 seed in the NFC, none of which were played at home. Please tell me which team was more deserving. The difference between Patriots fans and Steelers fans is that even though the Patriots fans were annoying and talked trash, most people knew deep down they had the best team, best coach, etc.

or incompetent TEs dropping the ball on key plays????? or bad clock management??? or a game ending interception??? or keeping your feet in bounds when catching the ball near the end zone??? I am sure none of these had anything to do with the loss.Four possibly bad calls that game.It might be a little better than letting incompetent officiating decide the games. Why even bother to play games then. “I’m mad they won (the Super Bowl) with the help of the referees,”
This explains it very well.
I am a Steeler fan myself and it really looked like the NFL wanted to hand the trophy to the Steelers .
It almost looked like it was arranged , even the call against Indy ( the fumble by Polamalu ) they made this call to make it look like there was bad calls also against the Steelers.
But they did all they could to give the Super Bowl trophy to Jerome.

in his post. You're a very interesting "Steeler" fan when you make these kind of posts:On why New England lost at Denver in the playoffs:“I’m mad they won (the Super Bowl) with the help of the referees,”

There is only one reason , turnovers .
If it was nt for the turnovers Denver would have been shutout , they have absolutely no offense . They could not run or pass the ball.
In the thread concerning who will play at Pittsburgh to open the season:El should keep his mouth shut , the only reason he is in the starting lineup is because they dont have anyone else . On 95% of the other teams in the NFL he would strictly be a returner.
Something does not seem to add up here. For a Steeler fan, you seem to have the Patriots on your mind quite a bit, not just in these quotes listed above but in many of your other posts, too.Ton Brady's Patriots will play the Steelers and humiliate them .

Two things...If Roethlisberger had been ruled down, the Steelers were still going to go for it on 4th and inches. You know how many times the Steelers failed on 4th down this year? The DJax TD - this was on a 1-10-PIT16, the penalty took away the TD, but you were still 1-20-PIT26. You still could have gotten a TD. We have seen other teams overcome that. You ended up with three points.
The Big Ben TD - 3-1-SEA1 - yep did not look like he made it. Probably would have kicked and ended up with three if it was called differently.
Holding call on Sean Locklear - hmmm was not his first one of the night. 1-10-PIT19 changed to 1-20-PIT29 and took away a 18 yard catch. Hasselbeck could have still overcame this. Instead next play he is sacked. Two plays later he is picked.
The final penalty, the low block from Hasselbeck, was a bad call. But this call gave the Steelers 15 more yards, not a score. I think at this point the Seahawks are in disbelief and let the rest of the game slip away.
Bad officiating, yes...enough to cause the Seahawks to lose the game, no.
Same for the Colts: Bengals play them, Steelers don't.Steelers don't have the Patriots next year......That honor belongs to the Bengals and ther first place Schedule.
Congrats on your division Title!

People are sheep... are you referring to the blind homers who will blindly not admit the fact that the refs sucked in that game and that the majority of NFL fans think that the refs had an influence in the outcome of the game. Ok everyone else in the world are just walking zombies blindly following the herd, but you are so far above that. YOU CAN SEE THE TRUTH!!!!Instant classic!People are sheep - I certainly am not going to base my perception of what went on based on what someone's Uncle Rufus in Oklahoma clicked on on ESPN.com.
The problem is the majority of fans don't really know the rules. I umpire baseball and I can't tell you how many times fans get upset over calls because they don't know the rules. For instance, I was umping at a Pony League baseball tournament and this kid gets a bunt single, overruns 1st base, and immediately turns left to return to the bag instead of turning right (foul territory). The kid never made an attempt to go to 2nd base and actually had his head down as he was walking back.People are sheep... are you referring to the blind homers who will blindly not admit the fact that the refs sucked in that game and that the majority of NFL fans think that the refs had an influence in the outcome of the game. Sssssssh!!!! In case you haven't heard, those calls were the only reasons the Steelers won that game! Don't you know that EVERYONE knows the calls were bad! Stop using actual rules and opinions of people who don't think the calls were bad to justify the calls!"Inside the NFL" reviewed the controversial calls in Super Bowl XL in the opening of their show this week. The Steelers were favored in the game and already beat Cincy in Cincy during the reg season. Steelers ran the ultimate table during their playoff run and beat all the top seeds away from Heinz Field. Nice
trip though. Why are you so thrilled that Cincy beat the Superbowl champs during the reg season? Again GB is waaay too logical for the Steeler-Haters that refuse to cite credible sources for the "bad calls".Marino, Collingsworth, Carter, Fisher? What do they know about football? So the opposing team's fans are yelling at the 1st baseman to tag the kid and he does. I called him safe and the whole grandstand starts yelling at me. They were absolutely certain they knew the rules but they were wrong. I even had one guy waiting for me in the parking lot at the end of the game so I offered to show him the rule in the rulebook. He said he didn't care what the rulebook said it was still a bad call.![]()
