Crabtree throws Alex Smith under the bus (1 Viewer)

What a freaken diva. If you are a great WR you get it done regardless of your QB. Calvin Johnson has delivered every year. Crabtree needs a big awakening and it won't be this year. It's all about him and it's everybody else's problem. :stalker:
It's not the quality of the QB that is the issue, it is the number of targets. How the hell is Crabtree supposed to "get it done" if he gets 3 targets? Which he got in either the first or 2nd game. He has been getting 3, 4, 5 targets per game. This last game he got the most targets he has got all season, and caught 5 passes for 58 yards. Still, he should have gotten DOUBLE the targets he got last game which was around 7 i think (from memory).Megatron on the other hand, in the first 3 games of the season, averaged 10 targets per game!

But there is nothing wrong by throwing to the RB every time if it gets the chains to move. The myth of big plays and big throws being the end of everything in football is quite disturbing to me.
There's nothing wrong with any philosophy if it works. The problem with this one is, it doesn't. I never said big plays and big throws are the end of everything, far from it. However, you do have to at least take chances down field, if for no other reason than to open things up for the running/short game. Dink and dunk is a derogatory term here- it's failing miserably, isn't it? Likewise, if they were chucking it all over the field but still 0-4 and with the 2nd to last ranked scoring offense, that would be a failure as well.Teams don't respect the deep passing game at all right now, and for good reason. A big part of that is because of Smith, but part of that is also because of the playcalling.
