Croyle in as starter (1 Viewer)

Im curious if this is a bump for Bowe? Croyle isnt the most accurate QB and Bowe is a guy can go up high and make a play. Sounds like a good combo.

I watched the game and thought Croyle looked horrible against a Bronco secondary that had given up huge production lately. I have followed Croyle at Bama and in the NFL and think that he is not a good NFL starter. Croyle is erratic and does not have the confidence in his arm to fit the ball in to Gonzo or Bowe.

Also, with the way the Chief offensive line is playing, I would not be surprised if Croyle is nicked up before the fantasy playoffs start. Most underestimate the punishment Huard has taken this season. That guy has been knocked around a lot.

Wow, it's like we weren't watching the same game. I haven't seen much of Croyle, but I thought he looked pretty good.

Of course, I am a Niners fan, so my reference point is Alex Smith.

Croyle might be the worst starter in the league. Noodle arm, can't read a defense, makes bad decisions.
You've apparently never seen Brodie play. He may be the worst QB in the league but he has a cannon for an arm. His arm strength has never been the issue
Pros: Has a strong arm that has drawn raves from NFL scouts. Has improved in every aspect of play and has the physical talent to become an NFL starter. He shows great poise and courage in the pocket and has the fire to direct an offense. Has a good feel for pressure in the pocket with quick mobility to avoid rushers. Has a compact delivery that wastes little motion and allows him to get the ball off nicely under pressure. His decision-making ranks very high in this talented class and he sees the field well.

All I remember from Hard Knocks is Brodie's wife Kelli.

All I can say to Brodie is...well done sir. Well done.

Roll Tide.

The noodle arm comment is not accurate. We all need to do a better job of not spreading false information in this forum that is designed for all of our mutual benefit.

Croyle is a lightweight however and might not be able to withstand the beating that comes with being an NFL QB and I mean for even a short period of time.

Croyle does seem to be able to scramble better than Huard. I haven't seen enough to say that he's a tremendously mobile QB but at least he's better than Huard and should be able to buy more time.

The real question mark for me with Croyle is suspect decision making. He seems to want to hit the home run all the time. He's had a gunslinger mentality of the times I've seen him and sometimes it gets him in trouble like when he tries to speed the pill into a space that's too small. I do like the fact that he at least has a lot of confidence in his arm and himself.

I look for Croyle to be mediocre, but I doubt he's the worst starter in the league. Alex Smith looks like a poor man's Chad Pennington. A very poor man's.

I think Croyle hurts Bowes value. Huard was locked on Bowe in the first half and he was obviosly his go to guy. Croyle spread the ball around to Parker and Kennison among others.

Croyle is decent, not great, but he doesn't suck. Watched him play at Bama; he does know how to take hits and I see that happening often this week. He's one of the top QBs Bama has produced in the past 15-20 yrs, but that's not saying much. I see about 2 INT's and a fumble against Indy this week.

I thought he looked horrendous in the preseason, but actually decent in the game Sunday. He seemed to have decent zip on the ball and was putting it low and in front of guys where only they could catch it. Maybe it was a fluke game or something, but he looked pretty good Sunday, which surprised the heck out of me.....

All I know is Croyle looked HORRENDOUS during pre-season, and that includes his time with the 'starters'. If he hasn't evolved light years, this is going to be ugly.

There's no fluke about it. What you saw Sunday was more or less what Croyle is: a kid with talent but question marks surrounding his durablity (possibly linked to size), accuracy and decision-making.He's got a BIG arm (some people should stop embarrassing themself by posting), decent mobility, a ton of moxxy and good instincts. His talent is not in question. He slipped to the third round because he might not hold up as an NFL starter (remains to be seen) and he's a project. But he's sat on the bench for 25 live NFL games to learn and now we'll see what he's got. On Sunday he put good zip on the ball, made some nice throws and also made a couple questionable throws. He really didn't make any bad throws, at least in terms of throwing a lame duck or a terribly inaccurate pass. His worst was on a route in which he expected Gonzalez to cut before he did; and as I said, he makes questionable throws, just like that.I've got no idea what he holds for fantasy and neither does anyone else. But it'll be interesting to see how he develops as a passer in this league. I'd take his arm and overall talent over a bunch of scrubs starting as of right now.

He did no worse than many QB's getting their first starts. Give him the rest of the season before passing jusgement. Remember he has a horrid O line and NO running game right now.

dont mean to hijack this thing, bit in light of the Beck and Croyle news....WHo wouls you rather have as backup this year. who can be better this year?

He should be pretty familiar with that from his days in Bama right??

Actually, Ken Darby had a big year when Brodie was a Senior and they went 10-2.But for the most part, he certainly played with less talent than his opposition.
