Current Frontrunner for MVP? (1 Viewer)

Can we please put the Brees MVP talk to rest, at least for now? The Saints have 7-9 or 8-8 written all over them, and no player from a team with that record is gonna be the MVP.
To be fair, with each passing week the landscape is going to change. But to your direct point, yes, I do think that Brees' Saints are probably not good enough to keep him in the MVP race. That's one of the other interesting things about MVP winners, they usually need at least some help from their teammates on the other side of the ball. Without a stout defense, a team is going to struggle to have the kind of W-L record needed for an MVP award recipient, usually.
Especially for an RB.A QB can get away with having a weaker defense...just means he gets to throw more and accumulate more stats. If an RB plays for a team with a terrible defense, their team may be down more and have to limit his touches.

I have to add another Vote for Portis. The guy is a beast this season
Clinton. Portis.
still going with Portis, but Orton keeps moving up the list.
:tumbleweed: Portis is definately looking like the lead horse in the MVP race currently. he is running like a beast.I'd say orton is definately leading the "comeback player" award, but if he keeps playin like he is, with his supporting cast, he might deserve some consideration.

Without Portis, I can't see Washington winning any games at all. They're 0.5 games back from 1st place in the NFC East. Drew brees is my 2nd choice but he's also last in his division at the moment. I think Portis is the only guy who exceeded everyone's expectations as a top 10 pick fantasy wise. Maybe Marion Barber and Frank Gore as well, but none of them takes the load like Portis does and Barber is not the best player on his team.

1a. Eli Manning1b. Clinton Portis2. Ben Roethlisberger3. Jay Cutler4. Brett Favre5. Phillip RiversSorry, but QBs who play on a teams that are in last place in their division don't make my top 5.
Updating my list:1. Portis2. Roethlisberger3. E. Manning4. T. Edwards5. HaynesworthJust missed: Rivers, Rodgers and Warner.
