Currently, who are the 10 best receiving RB's, and who are the 10 best dump-off QB's? (1 Viewer)

Gotta mention Breece Hall here. PFF graded 44 RBs with 30+ targets in 2023 (regular season and postseason). Among them, Hall was:
  • #2 in targets (90)
  • #2 in receptions (76)
  • #2 in receiving yards (591)
  • #12 in YPR (7.8)
  • #2 in YPRR (1.76)
  • #2 in YAC (642)
  • #18 in YAC/reception (8.4)
  • #2 in first downs (28)
  • Tied for #3 in receiving TDs (4)
  • #12 in passer rating when targeted (104.2)
  • #1 in missed tackles forced (31)
  • #1 in PFF receiving grade (88.6)

Dumpoffs are somewhat of an interesting thing to me, because I think they are often dependent on who you are dumping off to, and the offensive system. For example, I think Kirk Cousins is absolutely a dumpoff QB, however, his dumpoffs have historically been to TEs (Hockenson/Reed) who tend to operate closer to the line of scrimmage. That really isn't Pitts game, so I think those could go to Bijan (an excellent receiving RB) now, but I don't think that changes who Cousins is so to speak.

I'll bold QB/RB teammates

Anyway, in no particular order my top-10 dumpoff QBs are:
Kirk Cousins
Jared Goff

Matthew Stafford
Gardner Minshew (that could absolutely be Bowers)
Derek Carr
Aaron Rodgers
Tua Tagovailoa
(he hits lots of big plays as his weapons do a lot RAC wise, but he throws a lot of shorties too)
Brock Purdy (some of those are to Deebo as well)
Baker Mayfield
Will Levis (which I think we will see a lot more of with Henry gone and Callahan on board)

My top-10 receiving RBs, again in no real order:
Bijan Robinson
Christian McCaffrey
Breece Hall
Alvin Kamara
Jahmyr Gibbs

Aaron Jones
Jaylen Warren (who I think could lose some targets, especially if/when Fields gets in the lineup)
Isiah Pacheco (I've always liked him as a receiver, they just liked McKinnon there, with him gone, I think Pacheco could get 60+ catches, especially if Rice is out)
De'Von Achane
Josh Jacobs (underused almost his entire career as a pass catcher, and may continue to be)

Just to address some names I left off:
Kyren Williams, I think Stafford is great for receiving RBs (Bush, Bell, Riddick) but I don't think that's a huge part of McVay's offense.
Saquon Barkley, I think he's always been slightly overrated (as a pass catcher, and overall) he got funneled lots of targets because he was on teams with horrible weapons. He'll be no higher than 4th in Philly, and playing with a QB who doesn't check down (unless Hurts goes down, and Pickett takes over)
D'Andre Swift, I think he played with 2 really good checkdown QBs in Stafford and Goff. Another overrated talent, though he's certainly better at pass catching (not running) than Herbert.
Rhamondre Stevenson, little but like Barkley, where I think his targets were inflated by lack of other options. 2022 is likely an outlier. I do like him as a player though.
Austin Ekeler, this one pains me, as I have been a big fan since 2018. I think I was in denial a bit for much of last season, but he looks close to done to me. Combine that with a non-checkdown QB, and a non-checkdown OC (things he's never had before) and I think he's off the list.

Top sixteen RBs by receiving yardage last year. Surprises for me were Perine, Washington RB total, J. Ford TDs, and no Saquon. I’ll be getting a lot of Blake Watson in rookie drafts as a late round dart throw.

using saquon's data from NYG is basically using trash.

he's easily a top 3 receiving back, all you need to do is watch

Barkley forced 31 missed tackles as a receiver in his rookie season. It was truly historic production for a RB: 91/114 - 721 - 4, receiving grade of 85.2, NFL passer rating 101.1.

Barkley forced 36 missed tackles as a receiver over the 5 seasons since. In virtually every stable metric, efficiency or counting stat, 2018 remains his zenith.

I am comparing RB usage from their college years to their NFL careers. Very few RB's are used the same, as most are used sparingly as receivers in college. Researching the stats is fun, and sometimes shocking, when you chart it out. For example, I had no idea Jaleel McLaughlin was such a rushing monster in college. He racked up a whopping 1250 rushes, but only 66 receptions.
