Curtis Painter Appreciation Thread (1 Viewer)

Curtis Painter has had two very nice 20+ point fantasy weeks in a row and until the Colts get their ground game going again, Painter will continue to put up starter quality games.

The Colts running game looks like a mess with the rookie Carter (12/22/1) struggling against the Chiefs and now D. Brown also is in the mix. This RB crew is not scaring anyone and they will have to play catchup from the 2nd quarter on regularly. Am I wrong? What's not to like here?

Hope this thread can discuss Curtis Painter, and not get sidetracked and locked like the other one. Any observation/insight from homers or followers is appreciated.

I think with Addai's pass blocking and ability to catch bailout passes from the backfield that the Colts have a legit chance of winning a football game this year.Sadly, without Addai they probably stand no chance unless Carter learns how to bust big plays (10 yard runs)

Can we get some value / upside discussion going? Right now IMO he is lumped in with a whole bunch of inconsistent mid / low-end QB2's along with the following:

J.Campbell

S.Bradford

M.Cassel

A.Dalton

M.Sanchize

D.McNabb

R.Grossman

K.Kolb

T.Tebow

T.Jax

A.Smith

One thing he seems to have above all those listed is a) better weapons and b) an offense designed for throwing the ball. Even though his yardage totals the past two games have been very good (avg 280 ypg) those stats could be misleading since they were big-play driven with Garcon (only 14 avg completions).

He doesn't seem to have great pocket awareness so could be a liability in leagues that get penalized for sacks / turnovers.

Anyone see him busting out of this group or is he just another guy?

without garcon this guy is useless

well not useless. he could be a jeremy shockey double

Of your list only Tebow stands out as having higher upside. The others are inconsistent at best in fantasy scoring. In my league (allow me to gloss over scoring), 20 points is the mendoza line for a starter quality QB. Of this list, most of them have had an odd 20 point game and some barely 10 point games mixed in. Painter is the only one (granted it's just 2 weeks) that has put up consecutive 20 plus point weeks. His connection with Garcon is a strength, not a liability. They have a bounty of underutilized weapons, and the gameplan to keep up with opponents should be pass heavy. All the guys on your list offer an unstable floor and maybe higher upside. But if Painter continues to produce his numbers on a consistent basis, he should be considered a low end QB1 or high end QB2, a safe play suitable for bye week replacements, and he's severely undervalued coming off the waiver wires.
