Sur La Table...I never go but in general I like to make food so In general I enjoy the store. Hadn't been in one in maybe 5 years.
Wife and I are strolling along and there is a big Staub display in the window and sale sign. We decide to go and we find a steam grill pan we want for around 100 and there were more discounts in store. The 10.5 is only floor models,apparently and they have scratches plus the floor lady didn't want to go in the back and really look. Another gal walks back and produces the pan in a box or so I thought...
We get home and the pan is different than the one I thought I was purchasing. Wife calls the store next day and for whatever reason can't seem to make the manager understand. I said d I would just call home office or 800 number for Cust Svc. The lady who takes my call must have been having a bad day...
She basically tells me there isn't much they can do about it and that she isn't sending anything direct to my local store to exchange. She proceeds to give me some laundry list of things that I am going to do plus she is going to charge me freight another 20 bucks...and I asked to speak to a supervisor...the CSR refused or just cut me off and kept going. I said to her that these calls tend to be recorded and that I wasn't very happy so far but wanted to give her another opp to assist me. She proceeded to tell me to just return it and get my money back at the store...WOW!
Before I could really give her a piece of my mind she hung up on me. I reminded her a couple times she might want to take a different tone with me, I went so far as on the call to say if anyone other than this CSR were listening that this was exactly how you DO NOT want to treat folks...all I wanted was what I actually paid for on my receipt.
Im never gonna shop at that place again
I get a call from a local area code in IN a r IL or someplace and low and behold it's the CS Mgr or head honcho and boy did she want to talk to me. She could not have been more apologetic. She is sending me the right grill pan and said for me to simply keep the other to do whatever I like with. $100 pan or maybe even a little more seems like a steep I'm sorry, frankly I was shocked. I just wanted to get the right pan and maybe 10 or 20 bucks off my next purchase.
It pays to stay calm sometimes. I could have lost it on that person and I wasn't pleasant really, I voiced that I was not happy.
