D. Davis: Are you dropping him or holding onto him? (1 Viewer)

comfortably numb

I have Davis, and an IR roster spot.

I will hold onto him and see what happens in 07.

He will have alot of time to recover.

I don't know if he will be a Texan next year that may depend on the success of Lundi or Morency, and also on how they draft in 07.

If you own him, are you dropping him?

Are you targeting him, if he is dropped?

I have him in a new dynasty that drafted this summer. I'll hold him for a while, since we have no IR spots.

Unless Oscar Goldman and his crew of doctors can make him better, stronger, and faster than he was, I am staying away. If you have a roster spot for IR, no reason to drop him. But, if he's taking up space, cut all ties, or see if anyone will give you a 2007 draft pick (perhaps the Morency/Lundy owners feel he may return next year).

This is a good question, as I'm sure the Davis owner in my keeper league will dump him. I'll be looking very closely at picking him up.

Clearly he won't be back with Houston unless Lundy and Morency really stink up the joint, and even then he'll likely be elsewhere.

I think if he recovers that he could be given a chance to compete for a starting gig next year. And there could be several teams next year looking for RB help.

I like this thought....

Dom's knee is basically bone on bone with very little cartilage left.

If this was 2010 to 2016 he'd be OK, as medical science is on track to be able to grow cartilage & ACL's back in the knees themselves, through gene therapy & bio engineering.

But it's not 2010 to 2016, it's 2006 and cartilage does not grow back by itself. Once it's gone, it's gone.

Dom's football career is over. He can rest his knee as long as he wants, but the missing cartilage will not magically regenerate.

Agreed--some of the posts in this thread remind me of the hopeful talk about Terrell Davis around the time of his serious knee problems. When you hear the word "degenerative" that means that his knee, today, is as good as it will be for the rest of his life (unless he has it replaced). Davis is done.

Right now I have a space for him so it's no big deal to wait and see if he can come back. But my roster is full. I have one or two I'd cut in front of him as they are seriously deep sleepers but I would not hesitate to cut him if I had waiver wire priority and someone was on the list that looked like they were the next big thing.

I'm live in houston and knew about this condition for awhile now I inherited a team with him on it and we dont have IR spot on it so...... did you hear that crashing sound????

This begs the question, if the Houston natives knew of Dom's knee condition, why the heck didn't the Houston Texans know? :loco:
I have not the slightest idea. Even though M. Williams seems to be a solid player I still have that sick feeling in my stomach from the night before the draft when they said we were gonna pass on Bush.

If by "awhile" he means the OTA's in June then I can see it. There were NO indications Davis recovery was behind schedule until he experienced some swelling in his knee back in June. Even then the best information was that they would watch it and it would probably be fine by Training Camp.If you want to say you had intuition that Davis would never be right after his surgery that's one thing. To claim the best information available at the time of the draft in April was NOT that Davis would be fine is hindsight clouding someone's judgement at best, flat out wrong at worst.

I am dumping him this week, as a Texans fan, I see them drafting a RB next year in the first three rounds, looks to be plenty of solid ones coming out. Davis is done

Seems a bit premature. If Lundy or Morency steps up and gives them a solid back, and Mario turns out to be a stud, that's the best of both worlds. Let's at least see a game. If the RBs stink, and they are picking in the top of the draft again next year and Adrian Peterson winds up in your lap, would you accept that?As far as whether to keep DD, it really depends on the number of keepers. In a dynasty, you have to hold onto him, but in a keeper of more than 4, you probably won't have room unless your team is really weak. I have him, drafted Morency, and picked up Lundy, so I am hedging my bets for next year. I'm as pessimistic about the next guy about DD coming back, but with a year off, and possibly going to a new team, I can stash him on my roster in hopes of picking up a draft pick in the offseason.
