D Rhodes to Oakland Per Sirius (1 Viewer)

He will not see the second year money, as he isn't a good RB. Of this, I am 100% sure.
I think he's decent, but I can definitely sense his weaknesses being shown when he's not running behind Manning (and behind a poor OL).He and Jordan are probably one-year fill-ins until the Raiders get their RB of the future next year.
I'd be willing to bet the #1 pick will be between the Raiders and the Vikings on '08. :banned:

Right there, there you have it. :banned:

I guess the Colts will draft a RB in the later rounds. DeDe Dorsey anyone?
That's an angle many haven't mentioned. While it's not good for Jordan's fantasy value, seems like a bump (at least for now) for Addai.
It seemed to me the Rhodes departure was already factored into Addai's perceived value.
This is the current Colts spin on De De Dorsey: LINK
With Rhodes and running back James Mungro currently unrestricted free agents, the Colts enter the off-season with Addai and 2006 third-team back DeDe Dorsey as the Colts’ top two signed running backs.

Dorsey, who played collegiately at Lindenwood (Mo.) College, did not play last season after signing with the Colts as a free agent in early September. He originally signed as a rookie free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals shortly after the 2006 NFL Draft.

Dorsey showed signs of being an effective player in practice last season, Dungy said.

“We sure think he can,” Dungy said. “We never got to see him run live in a game, but what he did in practice really gives you every indication he can be.”

Jordan is getting hosed.

Then again Rhodes is nothing to be afraid of, he had a chance to become a full time starter in Indy but didn't really produce much in '06. I just can't see Rhodes outplaying Jordan anytime soon.

I think the split will be 70/30 with 70 going to Jordan.

Now it could get really complicated if they draft a RB in the first 3 rounds.

IMO

...Oakland cuts/trades Jordan and could draft Peterson

Peterson (or Lynch) / Rhodes

makes me a happy man.

They probably wouldn't cut him since they just restructured his contract, but I guess a trade is possible. We've certainly seen enough of them already. Only teams possible I guess would be Buffalo, Green Bay or Tennessee.

Is Jordan even going to be healthy going into the season? I haven't heard anything but isn't he coming off of a major knee injury? I'm not so sure Jordan's going to be ready to handle 70% of the workload.

I don't think he's getting hosed, but being given more competition than what Fargas offers. Plus, it's not like Jordan did a lot over the past two years to solidify his position, poor OL or not.
i dont think its necessarily competition as much as giving guys different roles. i think the coach sees using these two like they used bush/white at USC

LaMont Jordan's fantasy value takes a hit following the signing of Dominic Rhodes. He should keep his starting job, but Rhodes will likely cut into his carries. It could have been worse for Jordan owners, though. We feel Jordan is far more talented and versatile than Rhodes and he'll get plenty of work if healthy. It's better than competing with a rookie.
I feel the same as the rotoworld analysis

I don't get this at all. I think that Rhodes panicked after all the FA signings and took the best $ he could get before all the jobs got filled.

I do wonder if the Raiders promised any specific playing time in relation to Jordan. I imagine Rhodes was told he'd get a chance to start or share carries in an open competition, and Jordan hasn't exactly been gangbusters as of late.

But in that system, sharing caries or starting doesn't mean a hill of beans, unless you're in a PPR and the just do a bunch of dump passes to your RB.

This signing doesn't surprise me, typical Al Davis. Bring in a guy who plays well in the superbowl, then give a ton of money to a guy who will be relagated to backup or special teams role ie. Larry Brown, Desmond Howard.

I don't think he panicked. I think it's just that now he has a ring he needed to get the biggest contract possible, especially since he was never highly paid (in NFL terms) before. This will probably be his last chance for a big payday so why not take it.

Per Rotoworld, just now...

The NFL Network reports league insiders believe Dominic Rhodes, who signed with Oakland on Friday, may be suspended four games in 2007.Rhodes was arrested for DUI in February. This may explain why Oakland continues to scour the free agent market for additional running backs.
Nice little tidbit. We love our tidbits here in the S-Pool.

DING DING DINGI found someone in this thread who doesn't have a pocket protector and isn't look at things strictly from the perspective of a fantasy :hifive: .

The Raiders don't know that Jordan will be 100%. They needed insurance. That may be all Rhodes is, or he may run for 1,200 yards. It's too early to tell. But they weren't going be stuck having to roll with Justin Fargas again. My guess is that both backs get early work, and if either of them gets the hot hand he'll stay in.

My advice: Let someone else in your league assume that Jordan is healthy. Get Rhodes later on.

There's no way Jordan gets cut. They paid him $3m of the $4¾m roster bonus - you don't pay that then cut him. They might trade Jordan, but they would have released him prior to the bonus pay date. Jordan to GB or TEN remains possible.

Ton of money? 2 million this year. :banned:
