Dad Refuses to Give Up Newborn Son With Down Syndrome (1 Viewer)

Its cool that the government is willing to take children with special needs.

Whatever this womans reasons, some people could not handle being a parent of a child with down syndrome and its best that the parents split and that the father will care for him.

Yeah she looks like a total Dbag. She could have handled it with more class. Personally I know I most likely couldnt handle parenting a child like that and would probably make the same decision, although handled better of course.

She should have been nicer about it, but it aapears everything will work out for the best.

weird headline. story should be more about the mother and Armenia, no?
Yeah, stupid headline for sure. Should be more like, "Diabolical mother abandons downs newborn."
Or "Mother Does What?" At least, I think that's how you're supposed to do headlines nowadays.
"Mother gives birth to newborn; what she does next will SHOCK you!"
Spike it and do the Ickey Shuffle?

I had no idea you were allowed to return babies.
Some hospitals have a door, where a baby can be left on the step, the bell rung, and the mother/father/parents can walk away. The hospital guarantees that they will make no attempt to track down or identify the parent/s.
They've probably perfected the baby/electric hybrid car. And suckers are just giving them free fuel.

He's over 350k on his gofundme page. Good for him. Hope everything turns out for the best.

This is a child with Down Syndrome :oldunsure: Yes, there are some severe cases here and there. However, many are highly functioning and just "look" different. They are some of the happiest people you'll ever meet.

It would still be too much for some people for various reasons. Its for the best that the child is not cared for by a person who doesnt want them.

As the parent of a special needs boy all I can say is the wife is the one missing out. My son is globally delayed, non-verbal and not able to walk. But he is the happiest boy I have ever met. I wouldn't trade him for anyone else in the world. Not trying to pat myself on the back here, but these kids are special when you take the time to get to know them. Unfortunately, people are afraid of what they don't understand.

Absolutely, my cousin has downs syndrome. Not only that she had a slew of other medical problems where the doctors were certain she would not live past 6 months. Then were sure she would not live past 4 years old. She is now nearly 50 and has always been the sweetest person you would ever meet.

That's just horrible...

Would be a tough road to go, but I'd have done the same thing. The wife... wow, I'd have not-so-nice-words for her...

I have yet to be shocked or even mildly amused.

Yeah, better they be abandoned by the people who brought him/her into this existence and dumped into a government system. Best for everyone, obviously.

The mother could wind up being abusive towards the child.

Well, yeah....if you don't want kids, then sobeit. If you do, but not "broken" ones, then you don't deserve ANY imo.

"What happens when a baby like this is born here, they will tell you that you don’t have to keep them," he said. "My wife had already decided, so all of this was done behind my back."
Armenia is 95% Christian, by the way.

If this is the case, the problem isn't the child, it's you being a selfish *******.

Me or them?

Can't they notice things like Down's before birth?
At some point early in the pregnancy (well, relatively early) they measure something (#### me if I know what it was) that has some correlation with the odds you have a baby with down syndrome. I don't know much about it because ours were normal (i.e. very unlikely) but you can get some indicator early on (sorry for using too many parentheticals in this post).
