Dallas doesn't seem focused, also has a lot working against them (2 Viewers)

Per Mickey Spagnolo on 1310 ESPN in Dallas:

TO practicing right now.

Mick:

Owens is out there practicing right now. He went through all of the warm ups and he is very much involved in the skeleton plays and game plan. I did not see any limping but he is not going against anyone. I did see full-throttle cuts and routes. The guys have been saying that he has been rehabbing 18-19 hours a day and spends time in the hyperbaric chamber.

Last time they played NJFG, Witten stayed in a lot to help Columbo on Strahan. I think you will see more of that, but they will play a lot of two TE sets. They will try to spread the DE's out so they don't have a sharp angle to the QB.

Glenn is also out their practicing. This is the first time he has participated in full practice all year. Even if he hasn't played this year, the NJFG will have to cover him. If he and TO are both in there it will force the NJFG to account for both which will leave one of the TE's open.

What do some of you idiots think goes on down in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico?

You don't go to Cabo to 'Relax', you go to Cabo to party like a rock star. It is all-inclusive resorts and tequilla bars. He was with Jessica - so I imagine he drank and f'ed. SOUNDS LIKE A GRAT WAY TO SPEND A WEEKEND, but then again - I don't need to go film study for my playoff game.

I know...... maybe he was there for the discount shopping on T-Shirts

Some of you cows have clearly never been off the the farm.......

Dallas may win this weekend and they may loose, but nothing will change the fact that Vacation <<<< Film Study on the NFL prep scale and Romo is taking a risk with this course of action. You can't compare a vet like Favre to a 2nd year guy in Romo.

Was he supposed to study 3 teams? Brady was in NY with girlfriend. Yet not a peep about that.

We don't get off the farm, but you think Romo was at an all-inclusive resort. Okkkaaaaaaay.

It just shows how far ESPN has sunk when they have dedicated so much time on various shows to asking whether or not Romo hanging out with his girlfriend will affect the way he plays in a football game. It means nothing. Romo is not the first football player to hang with his girlfriend on a bye week and he won't be the last. If Dallas loses on Sunday, and/or Romo plays poorly, it won't be because of Jessica Simpson.

Meh, that was the late 80s and 90s Cabo. Now you have choices. I go there fairly regularly specifically to golf (winter), fish (summer) and relax (always).

Michael Strahan will say yes to Jessica Simpson if Tony Romo doesn't

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - If Jessica Simpson gets tied of going out with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, there's a gap-toothed New York Giants defensive end who wouldn't mind a date with the singer-actress.

Veteran Michael Strahan came to Romo's defence on Thursday, saying the young heartthrob had every right to go to a Mexico resort with Simpson and other teammates during the Cowboys' recent bye week.

"You guys love to say, 'Oh, he is coming off the beach and he is dating Jessica Simpson' - please!" Strahan said during a news conference Thursday after the Giants practised for Sunday's game against the Cowboys in the NFC semifinal.

"Heck, if Jessica Simpson wanted to date me, I may give her a shot," said the recently divorced Strahan.

Strahan said he couldn't blame Romo for the trip.

"If he wanted to sit in Dallas, they would have found some fault in that because he would have been with her if they had pictures of them in Dallas," Strahan said. "So for them to go to Cabo or wherever they went, good for them. They deserve that time off."

Strahan insisted the vacation also would not affect Romo's play this weekend.

"I think anybody who thinks that because he took a few days with his girlfriend that he is going to come back and not play well or he is not going to be prepared if anything it probably stokes his fire to play even better."

Simpson took a lot of heat earlier this season after Romo turned in a poor performance with her at the game.

Receiver Terrell Owens compounded the problem by telling the starlet to stay away on game days. He later backtracked after talking to Simpson and Romo.

Simpson does not plan to attend Sunday's game in Irving, Texas.

:o There are articles and stories all over the news about Romo and Simpson and how it might affect his play. This is a non issue. Lots of football players have girlfriends and wives and spend time with them prior to big games, so what? I just dont understand these news stories. It has nothing to do with football or his play, non-issue in my book. But of course if he plays poorly, that is all they will talk about his how his romance has ruined his game. Guess football players aren't allowed to have a life

When one breaks new ground they have to expect some scrutiny. The nice thing is that now that one Football Player has broken this ground others will feel free to date hot girls instead of the mousey churchgoing type they, as a profession, have favored.

Giant fan here...

Did NE win when Weiss took the job at Notre Dame and Crennel had rumored to be leaving?

The truth is that the Giants are pretty banged up and only if TO is out does that even up the score a little. Dallas has beaten the Giants twice and they have done it because their DL dominated the Giant OL and the Dallas OL dominated the Giant DL. I am not sure why that would change the 3rd time? I think a lot needs to go right for the Giants to win.
The Cowboys OL played the Giants the best out of anyone this year IMO.The Giants vaunted pass rush forced a Gibril Wilson INT each game, one sack by Strahan in one game and one by Tuck in the other.

However, the Boys only had about 80 yards rushing in the second meeting and that's not so good(not too bad but...) hardly dominating, but I'd agree they did an excellent job.

Still, I don't expect the Boys to handily win the LOS battle vs the Giants DL. Their DEs and Tuck playing DT are very very good. Each game may or may not be Strahan's last(will let them know in March) so he'll be even more pumped to leave on a good note.

Also one advantage that could come-I think if Owens is slower or out, we'll see the Giants DL getting to Romo. You can't give them any extra time to get to the QB, you just can't.

I'm still curious how the Gmen will defend Witten. He was terrific with 116 yards the first game but just 12 yards the second game. If TO's not playing well because he's hurt and they can replicate that 2nd game D on Witten, it'll be tough for Romo.
It looks like TO will play and that does open up Witten. The Giants have had trouble stopping tight ends on 3rd down and Witten is excellent in that role. As for the Giant DL, Romo had a lot of time (even when blitzed) and that is why I felt the Giants DL was dominated. The Giants will need to hope Romo is thinking about that beautiful body he was all over for the Giants to win... :bag:

 Some people have pretty unreasonable expectations here. The coach told him to take a break. He took a break.

There's a big difference between having a GF and having a GF who is on every tabloid. Sorry, you can't tell that's it's not distracting.

And you can't pick who you're going to end up liking either, you never know. To be honost, the most distracting thing isn't her or what she's doing it's the media.

Except in the minds of the "little people," this will have zero effect on the game, regardless of the eventual outcome.

1. Many are saying that the coach told him to go relax. Did he specifically tell the rest of the players this or just Romo? Is he worried that Romo cant handle the pressure?

2. When teams prepare for a playoff game, it isnt just the other team they are preparing for. Especially when they have the bye week. Word in NE was that the Patriots spent the week self scouting themselves and working on things that they could do better. I'm not begrudging the guy a vacation but he does get basically 3-4 months off every year. Instead of being in Cabo, he could have been studying film to find out why he struggled so mightily down the stretch. Its not like the Cowboys have been destroying people lately. There are certainly things Romo and his teammates need/could be working on.

3. He's the QB and Witten isnt. Everything Romo does is going to be analyzed.

ESPN has become so tiresome, fast becoming the sports TMZ.

The Romo thing has become so overblown it's not even funny. Wade tells the team to relax and try to stay off their feet with their three day weekend(Fri., Sat., Sun.)

T.O., feeling bad about his remarks being taken out of context by the media about his remarks about Romo dating Jessica, offers to Romo to take a few days in Cabo w/Jessica and take Witten and his wife if he'd like and he'd pay for it. Yes, this is true. T.O. paid for the trip.

The Cowboys had already had one full week of practice, and would return Monday to continue now that they would know who their opponent would be.

They did, in fact, watch that weekend's games while in Cabo.

Q: What did this hurt?

A: Absolutely nothing.

Q: Why is this a story?

A: ESPN

Romo's vacation certainly had nothing to do with it.

Keyshawn used to leave Tampa on Sunday night after a game, and fly back in on Tuesday morning. To the westcoast. And no one said a word.

I just pointed out 5 things I felt were working against them including teams going 43 out of 54 when down 0-2 on the season to teams...that is about 80% and the NY Giants only added to that total...that's right, teams that were beaten twice during the regular season are 43-11 after that point...frightening really. I am sure others will say they got all the games right this weekend but the Dallas game for me was the easiest read of the week.

Sorry Dallas fans, better luck next year.

I guess that explains why Keyshawn was never any good when he was with Tampa. How could you say that Romo's facation had nothing to do with it? Did Romo have a great game yesterday and I just missed it?
He made perhaps 2-3 bad plays all game. The blame is squarely on the O-Line in the 3rd and 4th Q's, too many keys drops as well. Crayton and Fasano. QB's always get too much credit when things go well and too much blame when they lose.

Yep, I watched every snap of the game and I feel confident in saying that Romo played solid. He did make a couple mistakes down the stretch. He should have thrown the ball away a couple times outside the pocket and the one throw where he threw it away and got the intentional grounding call was a mistake. The guy ran for his life and took some big hits. I think the play calling stunk in the 2nd half. I cannot believe that Dallas couldn't come up with some plays to move the ball on that Giant secondary. Jason Witten could have abused them over the middle, yet I rarely saw it. It should have been a regular occurance. Romo was prepared. He didn't play mistake free football but he played good enough to win.Let me just say this. If everyone on the team from coaching, to kick off coverage to catching the passes would have played as well as Romo did, the Cowboys wouuld have won. Romo will take heat for the loss, he will be labeled a choker because there are a lot of uneducated sports junkies that don't know any better but I'll feel confident again next season that he'll play solid when it counts. It's other players like Crayton and some tired offensive lineman or lineman that constantly jump or the center who can't snap the ball who need to up their game.

This should be written everywhere for everyone to see. The media is going to blame all of this on Romo. Just like last season. He dropped the snap but he also led the team down the field for the score. He also didnt play defense. He also isnt R. Williams or Reeves getting burned time and time again. He isnt Crayton dropping two for sure TD and stopping short on another for sure TD. This game was a complete team loss and Romo should not be getting all the heat for it. He was the best player on the field for the Cowboys......

And the same could be said for Eli Manning. If somehow Dallas would have scored and won.......Eli would be blamed.Eli played a very good game. It's ridiculous that depending if Dallas scored on that last drive determines if Eli played good or not. No, either way Eli played well. It was up to the defense to do their job and they did, making it a team effort.

To me, the most disappointing part of the entire game was letting the Giants score after that 20 play drive. I'm still amazed. I mean Dallas uses almost the entire freaken 2nd quarter, scores on the 20th play a TD and the Giants get the ball with 47 relatively deep in their territory.

The Dallas D is fully rested since they've been on the sideline nearly 3/4 of a quarter now and they come out and let the Giants tie the game up before half at home? WOW, thinking of that and typing it makes me sick to my stomach. You're the NO. 1 seed at home and your offense just stuffed the ball down your teams throat and you let them score a TD like that? That was absolutely TERRIBLE.

Whoever decided to play that style of defense for that drive needs to be reevaluated because that got the Giants right back into the game.

It should have been 14-7 at the half with Dallas getting the ball to start the half.

Ever heard of a guy named Peyton Manning? Until Romo wins in the post season, he (and all Cowboy fans) better get used to this kind of talk. Sorry, that's just the way it is in the NFL.

Go read a few FFA postings on racism. According to FBGs, perception IS reality. :lmao:

As Parcells always said...you are what your record is. For Romo it's 0-2 in the playoffs, rightly or wrongly.I'm happy he's the Cowboys QB and better days are ahead for this team.

Yep, just as I am sure Indy fans were never too unhappy they had Manning. But the talk will dog him for at least another year. Heck, it was the front page of the sports section in the San Antonio news yesterday. If their own beat writers are bringing it up, you can imagine what the rest of the sporting news world will say.
