They will still go back to him though, because TRich sucks so bad!
He can, we are talking about 40 yard times, right?SameSongNDance said:TRich wishes he could run for 5.4 a clip.
Yep. He runs hard and looks very good as a receiver. But if he fumbles again, I think he will be glued to the bench.Carter_Can_Fly said:Needs to get the fumbling thing sorted out asap. Rest of the game looked very good.
The staff clearly wants him to succeed and were generous with the mulligans today; but after that 3rd-almost-fumble around the 10 (the one where TRich cored 2 plays later) they seemed to begin to lose their patience a bit.Yep. Dude SmhI'm guessing Herron will clean up the fumble problems, and the job will become his. I'm sure "nerves" played a part in this start. Once he gets a few more first team reps, he will calm down. The rest of the schedule isn't too bad either, with Washington, Cleveland, Houston, and Dallas coming up. Did I mention that TRich deserves to die, and I hope he burns in hell?
Dan Herron - RB - Colts
ESPN Colts reporter Mike Wells reports Boom Herron will continue to start over Trent Richardson.
Coach Chuck Pagano would only say that Herron "may" start again this week against the Redskins because he practiced so well leading up to Week 12, but most Colts beat writers get the impression it'll be Herron getting the nod over Richardson again. This comes two days after Richardson said he didn't start last week because he was recovering from the flu. We didn't buy it. It really doesn't matter, as the two will split reps, but it shows the Colts are higher on Herron than sloth-like T-Rich in the backfield.

Absolutely in a ppr. I watched a lot of the game. Aside from concerning fumbles, he is solid. Runs very hard, nice hands as well.does this make herron a strong RB2 this week? pretty tempting in that offense
yeah I have been thinking about him over vereen and l. murrayAbsolutely in a ppr. I watched a lot of the game. Aside from concerning fumbles, he is solid. Runs very hard, nice hands as well.does this make herron a strong RB2 this week? pretty tempting in that offense

ThisI wrote those on Dan Herron a few weeks ago.... As most dynasty drafters like to do especially late in rookie drafts it is finding that hidden gem and crossing your fingers that they end up working out and contributing in some way to your team. I have had some success picking late round rb's in my rookie drafts and not because I am some awesome scout but by pure luck. I drafted Arian Foster in the 6th round of my rookie draft a few years ago, and also drafted Blount late the 5th round of a draft and both guys have had some success. The problem is trying to be patient with these guys after you have picked them. I actually dropped Foster when he was sent to the practice roster of the Texans and he was picked up by someone else in my league. After learning my lesson I kept Blount even though he was cut by the Titans and then I was rewarded as he was picked up by the Bucs and had a good year 2 years ago with them. This year my late round flier pick that I drafted is Dan Herron who I picked in the 5th round of my rookie draft and feel he is one of those guys who could be a solid NFL RB. Nothing about his game jumps out at you, but he does everything fairly well and in turn may have a chance at some point with the Bengals. Herron is basically a lock to make the team even though he is a 6th round pick as he only has to beat out Pearmen who has proven to not be a very good player. BJGE will open up as the number 1, and the change of pace role goes to Scott who at 28 years of age has shown very little as a pro. Herron has very good RB measurables at 5'10 and 213 lbs. At the NFL combine Herron had a very good 3 cone drill at 6.97 (9th at the combine) and just for refernce sake Wilson this year had a 7.09 (13th) and Martin had a 6.79 (3rd). Herron had the 3rd best shuttle time for RB's at 4.04, the 7th best bench press at 22 and although his broad jump and vertical jump were middle of the pack he does show some wiggle with his size. He didin't run a blazing forty at 4.66, but neither did Foster who ran a 4.68 when he was signed as an udfa by the Texans. I am not saying Herron is like Foster as a player but only comapring them as late round fliers. Wood is the only FBG to rank Herron so far as he has him as the 6th best rookie RB and actually as the 15th pick overall in rookie drafts (obviously he is high on him). Herron has signed a contract with the Bengals already and they like his ability to be a 3 down guy as it is said he is a good blocker. Now he will have to start by contributing on special teams to make the game day roster, but he is my late round flier pick in rookie drafts this year.
Second reference to Foster here:In 2010, Herron delivered as the starter, totaling 1155 yards and 16 touchdowns. Later that year, just a week before the team's appearance in their bowl game, it became eminent that Herron, amongst other top Buckeye players were facing substantial NCAA sanctions. ...
While I doubt that Herron is ready to break out any anytime soon. I always pay attention to players that take show even a littlle potential when given an opportunity. His production may have been in garbage time, but he did produce. Which is something the colts desperately need from the RB position right now. Maybe the coaches take notice and give him more opportunities, maybe not. I ignored a player who produced late in the season a few years back. I sure wished I hadn't dismissed Arian Fosters late season production. And NO, I'm not saying Herron will be Foster, just saying let a guy prove he isn't any good instead finding reasons to dismiss any potential that he is showing.
http://espn.go.com/blog/indianapolis-colts/post/_/id/9177/daniel-herron-likely-to-continue-to-start-at-running-back-over-trent-richardsonINDIANAPOLIS -- What seemed like a temporary switch at the starting running back position for the Indianapolis Colts because Trent Richardson missed some practice time last week with flu-like symptoms was actually not the case.
Colts coach Chuck Pagano actually started Daniel “Boom” Herron at running back against the Jacksonville Jaguars because he outperformed Richardson in practice last week.
Pagano didn’t say who will start at running back against the Washington Redskins on Sunday, but if he goes off performance against the Jaguars, Herron will continue to start.
...“We’ll see how the week goes,” Pagano said. “They both practiced well last week. We all know Trent missed last Wednesday out sick, but they both practiced well and we’ll see how they practice this week and make a decision.” ...

Barring a change, Boom Herron will continue to start at RB over Richardson. Pagano doesn't seem to enjoy answering questions these days
- Has Pagano actually stated that Herron is starting? I guess we really just have to wait for Sunday to get final confirmation?Don't be surprised if Boom Herron continues to start at RB over Trent Richardson

I blame Coughlin and Belachick for our obsession with fumbles. Adrian Peterson and DeMarco Murray have had more than their share of fumbles, but nobody is concerned about whether they should be on the field. Let's face it, when a 300 pound defensive end who runs a 4.9 second 40 hit you from the blind side, you will occasionally fumble. Competent coaches worry more about your mechanics than the end result.swampdog said:"Aside from concerning fumbles"..... there is no "Aside" from concerning fumbles. Fumble the rock, and we will find a nice cold spot on the bench for you, maybe you can help on kickoff coverage.
I'm leaning towards Denard Robinson over Herron, just given the matchups (Drob vs NYG) and the fact that the Indy situation is still a bit uncertain. If anyone cares...Have to decide between Herron and Crowell. Leaning Herron
I own him in dynasty as well, but I am somewhat concerned how he does this week and going forward. This is a massive opportunity for Herron to be useful the next 2 to 3 years. There is not a ton of time left this season to prove to Indy that he can be a big part of their backfield for the foreseeable future. Indy will be forced to draft a rb this year one way or another, but Herron may make them take one later in the draft if he grasps this opportunity. Richardson will be let go, and Bradshaw's injury history leaves him more then likely on the outside looking in.I only own him in dynasty so I'm not too concerned about whether he starts or not this week. I just hope he cleans up the fumbling. I don't have any doubt that he is better than Richardson so if he hangs onto the ball then he should get at least as many carries as last week. Hopefully he continues to put up good numbers and he might just turn out to be a long term solution for Indy.
Yeah, he could really show something here and grab the reigns. This is the chance you hope for with guys like Herron. The needle in the haystack opportunity.
Herron was in on the Jax 7 one drive (FL), he was in on the Jax 8 on another where he gave way to TR at the 1. There's no reason Boom won't get chances to score in the red zone.Redskins d has been good against the run but the team is in a tailspin overall. Hoping for Herron's stat line from last week with an added TD this week.
