Dan Herron.....anything there? (1 Viewer)

I am waffling between 3 RBs for my 2 RB spots - on the bright side Gio and Vereen have played their way out of consideration....but I have to decide between Mason, Herron and Joique Bell. Leaning Mason and Bell (facing TB)...but with Bush healthy, Bell might lose opps and with Mason facing WAS, I might be better suited to trot Herron out there. Oh well, my mind will change 50 times between now and Sunday morning. Tough being in the playoofs with a bunch of RB2/3 types and no real RB1.

I would find a way to play herron

Debating between Herron and Joique Bell in PPR.
Last week went with Bell in this same situation....worked out well. This week a stronger case can be made for Herron because Hilton is dinged, and will be covered by Haden. Leaving intermediate and crossing routes open to TE and swing passes/screens to Herron. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of starting Herron. Also with Bush back, Bell will lose touches from the 20 to the 20...be unaffected at GL so it comes down to whether you think Herron PPR will offset Bell GL looks.

I'm glad he's gotten his chance, as a Colts fan. He needs to continue and minimize the fumbles. He's been the best RB for the Colts since training camp from a purely performance perspective.

Also in over shoelace. Dear colts, please do not overuse trich on the basis that he will play well against his former team. This is folly.

is there ANY hope Richardson could put up 10+ points this week? I have major injuries in 1 league, and have to either start Trent or Helu. I know this is a Herron thread, but figure guys in here have probably watched Trent and Herron the last few weeks and can at least tell me, does Trent still get opportunities? Passes? Any goal line attempts? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

No

Abandon all hope.

Yaknow, it's funny all this talk about Richardson going back to Cleveland and all his supposed newfound motivation he's going to dig out of his pocket ("Oh look here it is"), etc.

Boom is from Warren Ohio, just outside of Cleveland, and he went to Ohio State.

Folks, he's coming home.

Colts sources tell ESPN's Josina Anderson they expect an even bigger workload for Dan Herron in Sunday's game at Cleveland.
Herron got just 10 touches in last week's win over Washington, but totaled more rushing yards (88) than Trent Richardson has had in any of his 26 games as a Colt. He's more than earned a bigger role despite some ball security issues. We'd project an even timeshare between Herron and T-Rich, even in Richardson's revenge spot.

Haven't even seen him in the game yet.

Richardson running onto the field again as they went to commercial.

Herron looked quite good in this game. The 8 rushes for 26 yards is misleading as his usage paints a better picture. Herron was in on the final drive with the Colts marching for the win. On 3rd down and 2 deep in Browns territory Herron got the carry and it appeared he got the first down, but was marked short. On 4th down and inches he looked all but dead as Cleveland got major push and the play was blown up; Herron spun, kept his feet churning and gained the 1st down. I guarantee that goes a long way in the film room as that play was essentially the difference between winning the game and losing. Next play on 1st and goal from the 1, Luck throws it to Hilton for the win. That sequence shows how much faith the staff has in Herron. He added 4 catches for 45 yards, and Luck missed him on a pass that would have been an easy td. 71 yards on 12 touches is a pretty good day all things considered.

The Colts as a whole were out of synch much of the game but it is quite clear Herron is a much better fit in the offense and is gaining more and more trust. Richardson did receive 7 touches on offense, but he is slowly being faded out. There is significant more burst and big play ability with Herron on the field and with Houston, Dallas and the Titans to close out the year, there is ample time for Herron to make some noise.

:goodposting:

The 4th and short carry with the game in the balance was amazing effort and skill.

Good summary and my observations as well. The fact he was trusted with the big plays in the most crucial stages of the game shows that the Colts believe in him, even with the fumbling issues (hopefully those have been put behind him). Didn't mean much in FFL terms but hoping for some more points in the coming weeks.

I think this trend of Herron getting more snaps is even larger this week.

Herron played 47 of the team's 81 offensive snaps, while Richardson played 32 snaps against the Browns.

Also see the bolded below.... Andrew Luck has taken notice...

Down 24-19 and time running out, Luck completed a 27-yard pass to rookie Donte Moncrief on third down, and the Colts got 35 yards when Browns cornerback Buster Skrine was called for interference on the next play.

Herron, though, made the drive's biggest play. On fourth down at the 3, he ran right and was initially stopped at the line. But Herron spun away from the pile and cut inside safety Donte Whitner for the first down.

"That was all Boom Herron right there," Luck said. "That was a great run and probably one of the best half-a-yard runs I've ever seen in my life."

since Luck did it, are we allowed to call him Boom now?

Herron again was the best rb today and looks like he should be Indy's starting rb. I don't know how they don't just give him the feature role and let him run with it. He does everything better than Richardson.

Herron: 11 carries 60 yards for 5.5 average. 2 catches and 12 yards.

Richardson: 9 carries 32 yards for 3.6 ypc. 2 catches and 9 yards.

They should just feature Herron it would be much better for their offence.

This is a huge game against a good defense with no TR in the game - 21 touches, including 10 catches, apx 145 yatds, 1 TD at 54 minutes in.
