Dan Patrick is a JERK! (1 Viewer)

Terrible! He acted like a child making little comments like "you don't play anymore, do you?" or "you make me look smart." Truly unprofessional and unclassy. He basically acted like an immature child!

Will find it hard to listen to him anymore...

My ten year old boy made the comment "that guy wasn't very nice at all." That goes to show you how blatant he behavior was during the interview. Did you hear it? I emailed espn and gave them my $.02 too!

I listen to Dan every day and he has a shtick that he does. He also has some decent relationships with some players. I am not condoning what he did as I did not hear that part of the show today but maybe it was something inside between him and Faulk. Maybe not and I could be wrong

I accidentally heard this segment. Really awkward. And Faulk didn't quite know what to do about it.

Total classless crap by Patrick trying to bigtime him like that.

Didn't catch the beginning of it to find out what turned this into a :wall:

I like the "high schoolers drink milk, that's all you're gonna say?" line that he repeated like 6 times.

GB the ticket.

I'm listening to this right now. Patrick was being a ####. Especially the part at the end where he was making fun of Faulks' "Drink Milk" campaign. Faulk sounded pissed at the end.

Patrick: "Thanks for being here."

Faulk: "You sure?"

Patrick: "Yeah, you made me look smart."

Faulk "We're just trying to boost your ego."

Patrick and Olbermann might be the two biggest windbags together on sports radio.

I don't think so. That was WAY uncomfortable sounding. Faulk should have hauled off and slugged Patrick in that swarmy mug of his.

That was one of the weirdest segments I've ever heard on radio. It really sounded to me like Patrick was trying too hard to come off as the ####### and have Marshall play off of it. But, he wasn't having any part of it. And, when Patrick recognized that, he tried even harder.I agree, Marshall sounded pissed at the end. For those that didn't hear it, trust me, the "Thanks for being here/You sure?" exchange was downright chilly.

i hate when patrick talks in that whiny voice and then just beats a topic in to the ground with it. its like, ok patrick we stopped caring about this 10 minutes ago so shutup. i wonder what the guy is like in person.

he has a sports radio show currently?

He makes appearances on Patrick's show almost every day. Olbermann seems to have annointed himself as the purveyor of sports ethics.

"The Big Show" that they do together at 2pm Est.

With all due respect, I have to take the flip side of this discussion. I heard the interview and thought that Patrick was trying to let Faulk plug his "Got Milk?" campaign and Faulk wasn't prepared. There evidently were "Got Milk?" officials in attendance and I'm sure they wanted Faulk to be a spokesman for them.

I will admit though that I am not a Marshall Faulk fan, so maybe my take is a bit different. Several years ago when Faulk played in Indy, he was at an FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) Golf event and gave a speech. It was one of the worst speeches I've ever heard. He was unprepared, unmotivated and uninspiring. I couldn't wait for him to finish. It was if he was being forced to be there. Kind of like....OK I did it, now where's my check? Much like my view of today's interview.

I can't imagine the folks from "Got Milk?" are too happy with Faulk right now. Even if Patrick was a jerk (which I don't think he was), Faulk still has to deliver. He was given the opportunity to plug his sponsor on national radio and he fumbled.

And if you care how many bases some random nobody stole in 1921, Olbermann is your guy!

Patrick didn't do anything to help the situation though, and through his actions made things worse. I'll admit that Faulk didn't do a very good job during this interview, maybe on-the-spot radio just isn't his thing. He's much better on the NFL Network.

this is :ptts:"Lastings Milledge stole his way around the bases last nite, Keith! that's amazing!""well, yes, you'd have to go back to Sheckie Shillstone in the old Heyward Pioneer League in Minnesota's Western Division in 1909 to find the last time someone did that.. in fact Shillstone did it twice.. because he did it against the Sioux City Bulls in 1911.":lmao: okay. thanks.that said.. at least Patrick and Olbermann have an easy and natural chemistry. they're entertaining in that they get along so well and make the hour go quickly. there are two things that drive me crazy about sports radio:1) One host attempting to fill 3 hours of radio w/o guests, calls or emails. Just talking for 3 straight hours. that's nearly impossible and it makes for awful radio.2) A host and co-host attempting to force witty banter (see Mike & Mike) when it's just not natural. Olbermann might be a know-it-all and a political blowhard but when he relaxes and just conversates with DP it's the best hour on sports radio. (that said, i don't get to listen to Czaban except for a couple minutes in the morning.. he makes me laugh)

Hi mfl,On the flipside, Faulk is outstanding on the NFL Network. Easily one of the best athletes they have. Really really good.J

And to be fair, it's the radio host's job to make their guest sound good. Some are excellent at it like Mike Greenberg. It's also why Greenberg consistently has great guests on the show.J

I didn't hear this particular interview, but I have heard Patrick interview M. Faulk a few times before. Every time has been awful... inside jokes... softball questions... Faulk having nothing interesting to say. It is always one of the most uncomfortable things to listen to.

Personally, I think almost all interviews with players are pointless. They aren't really known for their brains.

Faulk is doing a great job on NFL Network and it will be their loss if he leaves next year. Anybody got audio link to this yet?

I listen to Patrick quite often, as ESPN radio is the only game in this town. I listened to the interview today, and to me it sounded like Patrick was doing some of the same schtick he does with Reggie Miller. The reason it was uncomfortable is that Faulk was not playing along, at least not nearly as well as Reggie does. I agree that Faulk was very unprofessional in his "plugging" of gotmilk, which I actually kind of liked because I get tired of every interview around these big events turning into a five minute infomercial. For Faulk to say "Hey teenagers. Drink milk. Stores have it. Go buy some." may have sounded silly, but it made me laugh. All around, an uncomfortable interview, with an ill-prepared, uncooperative interviewee and an interviewer that wasn't able or willing to get the train back on the tracks when it was obvious the interview was falling apart.

I guess I'm the only one that heard this and thought it was schtick. Every athlete being interviewed this week is pimping something, and I think Faulk was trying to make light of it.

Patrick asked Faulk who he was sponsering, just like he asked every person today and the exchange went like this:

Patrick: Are you representing someone?

Faulk: Yup

Patrick: Who?

Faulk: I'm promoting kids/high school students drinking milk

Patrick: Milk?

Faulk: Yup

Patrick: So you want high school kids to drink milk???? (ironically)

Faulk: Yup

Patrick: That's it

Faulk: Yup

Patrick: Do you have a website or something?

Faulk: Nope just drink milk

This is not exact commentary, but I thought they were just poking fun at every athlete having their own promotion this week.

I'm not a big fan of Patrick and really only heard this interview by chance. Faulk does a great job on NFL Network though.

Clearly is was no schtick since it got personal at the end when Dan said Faulk made him look smarter. Dan really ought to be thankful Faulk is a nice guy because it sounded like bodily harm could have come at any moment. Shots are him and the NFL network were made, so I'm sure it wasn't any inside jokes...

It's was Dan's (interviewer) job to keep it under control and not make it personal. He failed and is responsible to not only represent himself, but ESPN as a whole. Dan came across smug and as immature as a child. Sad thing is that the ESPN guy behind the scenes probably only laughed at it all and see nothing wrong with it.

:banned: okay. thanks.
I know that most people type "LOL" when they aren't actually LOL'ing...But I just actually spit coffee all over my monitor! :lmao:

How were you able to stand him before? His show is terrible.
I am able to stand him because the only other sports radio programming in town in that time slot is Jim "I Never Had a Thought I Didn't Repeat 15 Times With Long Pauses Between" Rome.

How were you able to stand him before? His show is terrible.
Dibble made that show
Yep. I'm almost embarrassed to admit it now but I actually liked the show back when Dibbs was on. Now, I can't think of anyone on the face of the Earth I dislike more than Patrick. There was a great Patrick bashing thread in the FFA for a long while. Guess it got purged. :lmao:

Maybe it's time to start a new Patrick bashing thread. I can't stand Patrick. He comes on right after Jim Rome's show where I live. I used to hate Rome's show, but I got hooked on the callers and the e-mailers. Funny stuff there. But Patrick seems to try and place himself as an equal to the athletes he interviews. I mean, come on now, the only danger of injury Patrick faces on his job is getting burned by the blow dryer. Plus, he is pure vanilla as a radio personality. He isn't funny, doesn't come off as very bright, is a mediocre interviewer, and even Olbermann wipes the floor with Patrick on a topic. I really stopped trying to stomach Patrick's show years ago when he would have guests like the Hootie and the Blowfish singer on, trying to talk sports. It's pure Disney, and is on the same par as Todd Wrights old horrible night show.Dibble sucked too. A JT the Brick bashing thread should be in order as well. He is pathetic, stupid, and is Al Davis' personal lap dog, even though he used to bash the Raiders when he was a Rome caller. My favorite radio hosts are from the Bay Area's KNBR afternoon show, The Razor and Mr T, Ralph Barbieri and Tom Tolbert. Tolbert is a laugh riot, and even though Barbieri comes off as a homer at times, he isn't afraid to go after a guest. Bring back the old Scott Ferrall, pre-Hollywood days.

I guess I'm in the minority here. I Like Patrick. I liked him better on TV, but his show is one of the better sports radio shows out there imo.

I didn't hear the Faulk interview, but I would have to bet it was just his usual shtick.

Seems you must know M. Faulk. How many times have you been in his company ? Have you been with him AWAY from the camera ? The Rams have some great guys (Holt, Bruce, Pace many more) Fault is NOT one of them. MF has given us (st. louis Rams Fans) many a thrill but is not nice to other people off the field.

I did not hear this today. Could it have been because they were taping live at the Clevlander that it came across the way it did?
Ahhh, the Clevelander....I was there in November. What a cool joint.....Gotta love any bar with a huge pool right on the beach!?!?!As for the topic at hand, Patrick is horrible. Even his 30 second commercials for whatever crap he pitches are snoozes...

He's nice to the ladies. What's he got? 7 kids with 5 different women?

COME ON! Don't even compare that that flaming ########, Dan Patrick, to Jim Rome. That's ridiculous. :excited:
Yeah, Jim Rome at least managed to get Jim Everett mad enough to kick his ###. Patrick couldn't quite pull it off with Faulk.

I too am in the minority in the fact that I like the Dan Patrick show. Much better then listening to Mike and the Mad Dog on the other end of the dial. As stated the show was better when both Dibble and Salisbury was on. But thats just because Dibble was the world champion of the world

better then listening to Mike and the Mad Dog on the other end of the dial. =
how about Joe B. on The Fan? Of caaaaaaaawwse! He is starting to grow on me. I am not a NY Sports fan, but I like a guy like Joe who is a fan of his teams, and doesn't apologize for it..... and lets his callers talk.Dibble was king of the world!

Maybe the brass at ESPN are a little upset with the NFL Network. I have had the NFL Network on all week and seen everything about the Super Bowl and the great America's Game series. Whats an ESPN?

Something like that. I know a few women who used to hang with him at clubs downtown and on the East Side, and trust me...Faulk is not a good guy by any stretch of the imagination.

:goodposting: At least Patrick normally talks about sports. Too often Rome's show devolves into a bad "Night at the Improv."Edit: Oh, and Marshall Faulk thinks we faked going to the moon. Read that in a Playboy interview years ago. Not related to the discussion, but just sayin'. Maybe he makes all of us look a little smarter.

I thought Faulk came off looking like the #######. Patrick was disagreeing with him about the DMVP and I thought Faulk was going to cry because Dan's points backed up his opinion. The other stuff is Dan's schtick.
