Danny Woodhead vs former team , MNF (1 Viewer)

Little guy's goin up against his former team on MNF. Wouldn't put it past CRAB to stick it to the NYJ by increasing his touches in both carries and targets. Law Firm was horrible in first meeting. His running style plays right into the hands of the NYJ D.

Also, Brian Leonhard's injury should open up some lanes in the short-intermediate part of the field for a guy like woodhead (and WW) to get some extra YAC yds

Anyone else starting Woodhead this week as flex?

I am over Lynch and Meachum. But would like to hear if anyone else is starting him too. Or even starting him over better option then mine.

It s a pretty heated rivalry (with plenty of fun jabs at each other too) so I don't see where Woodhead is noticably more motivated than anyone else.

You said BJGE played poorly in the first game, is this the first time Woodhead has run against the Jets?

Yes, this is the first time Woodhead has run against the Jets.

Motivated? He should fumble it to them...they did him the biggest favor in the world! He wouldn't have sniffed the field as a Jet, but in NE he can play.

I Believe OP's point is about Belichick's motivation as well as the logical reasons to increase Woodhead's role in the gameplan more than anything else. Danny can be as excited about the match up as he wants, but it wont amount to much unless Brady and Coach call his number. I'm considering plugging him into my line up.

 exactly!

 exactly!
I'm sure Belichick would love for Woodhead to excel. But really, he's made his "I can take your castsoff and turn them into really productive players" point already this season. From what I know of Belichick, I really think one thing will govern how many touches he gives Woodhead - does he help them win the game. So in my opinion, bottom line is it really won't make any difference that they're playing the Jets. You think?J

Exactly, there are tons of players who go back and play their old teams. In 3 years from now, maybe sooner Woodhead may be a Dolphin and they're now facing the Patriots. A coach can't care or take into account angles like that when going into a game where both teams are 9-2 playing for what could be home field advantage for the playoffs.Does he want Woodhead to have a good game? Ya, that means his team would benefit from it. Will he call Woodhead's number over another guy even though he thinks the other guy will do a better job in that situation......no way, not even a chance.

Jets safety is JIM Leonhard........not BrianAlso.....sleeper? He has been in and out of FF lineups for several weeks

thx Joe Bryant, for stopping in. Always nice to have one of the FBG's chime in!Sorry, yes Jim Leonhard. Stud LB for NYJ, out for the year. A pretty big reason to get the ball in the hands of Woodhead and his TE's even more than normal, wouldnt' ya think? Should def be some nice opportunities in the shallow to intermediate middle of the field. Prob call for more dump offs to Woody , as well as more targets for Welker and the TE's than otherwise. Also, Law Firm could not run the ball worth a damn vs NYJ D. Another reason for Woodhead to get increased touches--his elusiveness vs the Jets D figures to yield more opportunity for ydg than Law Firm's slogging between the tackles. As for Welker being a dolphin 4 or so years ago, i believe he was traded, not released. Secondly, it's not near as fresh for him as it is for Woody to face old team. Also, Crab has a greater tendency than most coaches to really like to 'stick it to' another divisional rival. Nothing screams ''thanks for the gift, sucker!" louder than having your guy go off in a game who used to be with the opponent. Lastly, a sleeper can be defined as anyone who is significantly undervalued in rankings/expectations, in relation to their performance. Although Woody has been used as a flex or 3rd RB in some weeks, this game feels like he'll have a chance to do so much more than 4car/14 yds, 2 rec 10 yds as many of the projections show. I feel like reality will be closer to 6/25, 6/60, 1 td

Leonhard was a Safety. Not a LB. These may seem like silly, minor details but continuing to get these details wrong limits your credibility.

Details like, ''Leonhard was a safety'' ? Did he pass away or retire?

I can pick at nits, too.

You're prob right, tho. It prob does limit my perceived credibility, tho it really shouldn't. I'm not in an IDP Fantasy League, if i were, then it would be really embarrassing! As with most Fantasy players, i'm pretty good on individuals on the offensive side of the ball, obviously tho, not an expert on individual defensive players. Still, i get by well in Fantasy Football. The thrust of my message in the original post remains the same, even with the minor errors.

Would I be surprised if Woodhead had a big game-no. But I wouldn't hold my breath. Woodhead even in a PPR is a poor man.s flex IMO( only 24 recepts all year). Carried him for 1/2 the season and finally dropped him this last week but I was deep at WR and couldn't see starting Woodhead. He was ranked to have a big game against the Lions and didn't. I almost started him but fortunately left him on my bench. In my 12 team league even Caddy Williams and Jason Snelling have more fantasy points and they too are on the waiver wire.
