Darren McFadden limited in practice (1 Viewer)

This seemingly popped up out of nowhere. According to ESPN, he was limited in practice with some sort of shoulder injury. Any one else have any better insight on this?

Not surprised by this at all. McFadden put up a warrior's effort Monday night. Not sure he'll hold up if he runs like that all season.

They looked at him on the sidelines after a face mask tackle in the Denver game. I believe he'll be good to go. RBs can miss a lot of practice and still perform at a high level. The Raiders have been very very cautious with their top veteran players in practice.

I have not seen anything about this, but McFadden was obviously in some discomfort after being pulled down by his helmet. I am wondering if this is not some lingering effects from that.

considering he missed the entire preseason and then performed like he did on monday, i'm not terribly worried about this. also it appears early on that Hue comes from the "keep it close to the vest" school of injuries and actives/inactives.

When he took his helmet after he was violently grabbed, I was actually worried that the defender had somehow impacted the orbital bone which DMC broke in the preseason. Obviously that's fine, and there's nothing in this news piece worth reading into.

I think this one is a non factor, but injures do scare me with him. I think he was #2 in points per game last year behind Foster. I think he could finish #1 if he plays all 16.

He may very well do that, but the concern I had with him last year was that he completely disappeared in two or three games. Yes, it was great having him blow up on my bench and in my starting lineup against Denver for huge points, but those outliers greatly skewed his PPG average.Seeing as he's started off the season with his favorite punching bag, Denver, I'm hesitant to call DMC a surefire candidate for the #1 RB spot this year. Let's see how he does against the Bills: another 150 yard game and a TD or two this time around, and I'll start considering him as a guy who could truly be the best back in the league.

Marcel Reece is totally going to take over if DMC misses any time.

Going to become a complete RBBC situation. Sell, sell, sell!!!

It was a terribly violent hit he took to the head on that helmet snag play. It wasn't the guy who snagged the helmet, it was the LB who came in and blasted DMC just as he was being yanked by the helmet. That blast sent DMC's head into another player that was already on the ground just to the side. It was nasty and DMC was extremely woozy on the sidelines right afterward.

However he came back and had a spectacular near TD run in the next quarter, but watched Michael Bush grind out the goal line and most of the fourth quarter carries. DMC was running violently all night, as he did all of last year and took some punishment as a result. It took a fantastic play by Champ to avoid DMC's nasty stiff arm and trip him at the goal line to keep DMC from having an amazing night fantasy wise.

Possibly. My dad got around.

I took some heat for bringing this up in the game thread but I think he takes too much unnecessary contact. At the end of most runs he lowers his shoulder to hit his would he tackler. He is punishing the people tackling him but he is ultimately going to be the one to pay the price in the long run.

For those that say that this is just part of the game and what do you expect a running back to do, I point you to Marion Barber. I am the biggest McFadden fan there is but this part of his game is going to cause him to be perpetually nicked up.

Judging by the preseason, Jackson & Co. are going to be extremely cautious with DMC...he may sit out a lot of mid-week practices...

He took a pounding only 36 hours ago. This is like giving the catcher the day off after a night game Not surprising at all. If he doesn't practice tomorow, I'll take notice.

Srsly? He needs to average 150 yards per game and a TD or two to just be considered for the top RB spot?By your logic, this will be the first season where NO running back comes close to being worthy of the #1 spot by the end of the season.

And I'll point you to Adrian Peterson, who does the exact same thing and rarely misses games. See how easy it is to cherry pick players to make my point?

IF DMAC is out, I agree. Lot of Reece and Bush but if something happens and the Raiders KNOW they have lost DMAC for an extended period, the world is oging to be introduced to Taiwan Jones and the rest, as they say, will be history.Actually, I really can't imagine anthing except a season ending injury opening the door for Jones that much but it will be fantasy impactful still.

Update: McFadden back at practice and doing fine. But,Jacoby Ford missed Thursday practice.

running back Darren McFadden (shoulder), quarterback Jason Campbell (foot), defensive end Jarvis Moss (foot) and cornerback Joe Porter (concussion) are at practice and looking fine.
