David Wilson led the Giants' backfield in Week 3 snaps, playing 25 downs compared to Da'Rel Scott's 21 and Brandon Jacobs' 6.
Look beyond the box score and the usage numbers were actually promising for Wilson; Scott's playing time only received a bump because the Giants were in pass-oriented comeback mode. Wilson ripped off several impressive runs when he wasn't getting hit in the backfield, and had a 17-yard TD negated by a penalty at the line. Wilson remains a recommended fantasy buy low.

This thread is terribly terrible. This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. RBs bounce runs outside all the time. He saw an opportunity to take a play that was 5 yards to the 'designed hole' or bounce it outside and take it to the house. This is what good RBs do they find space when it doesn't exist. To blame that on a left tackle for holding when he had no actual reason to is ridiculous. Beatty didn't have to hold, Wilson had the defender beat before he decided to even bounce the play outside.A lot of people are talking about his TD run that got called back for holding, while yes it's true. The run was designed inside which is why the tackle held on accident when Wilson bounced outside. He would have gotten his yards going inside but not the TD. Hopefully Coughlin doesn't blame Wilson here.
Matthew Berry said it was an "illegal shift penalty" pretty sure he just makes stuff up to continue being a believer.

It was actually a pretty bad call as Beatty did let go fairly quickly, either way it never should have come close to a hold. Beatty should have released as soon as he started to pull away just like youre taught as a OT. This idea that somehow it's "Wilson's fault" for bouncing it out that Beatty got a hold is so ridiculous I can't even comprehend it.It was a great run and a very bad call that shouldn't have been madeA lot of people are talking about his TD run that got called back for holding, while yes it's true. I really wish this guy would stop doing this.Did you guys catch the sweet flip Wilson did after the holding TD???

the invention of the forward passCoughlin. What isn't the best thing to happen to Wilson? The best thing to happen to Wilson is the Giants going 0-3.
He's got nowhere to go but up.
Don't worry, he won't have many flips this year.I really wish this guy would stop doing this.Did you guys catch the sweet flip Wilson did after the holding TD???

That's kind of what I'm getting at. He should be getting at least high teens in carries in games where the Giants aren't getting blown out. I don't expect them to get blown out every week...silver lining-- he got 11 carries in a game they lost 38-0.
grasping at straws here
I'd take Cruz, assuming PPR.I saw a David Wilson/2014 1st for Cruz trade this morning. I figured you guys would want to know.
Yeah, I've been buying him in most leagues. In one I moved Bradshaw/2014 First for him before the Richardson announcement which I'm feeling pretty good about right now. Even with his lack of production so far... I can still see what made me so excited about him coming into the season. That hasn't just disappeared, it's been a miserable 3 weeks for the Giants and I fully expect them to turn it around. Right now this offensive line is hemorrhaging and that's the real issue here.I'd take Cruz, assuming PPR.I saw a David Wilson/2014 1st for Cruz trade this morning. I did just acquire Wilson in a league in which I am not in the hunt: Gave Charles and got Harvin, Wilson.
I'll also be trying to move L.Miller+ for him in another. His price is dropping, based on my sample of leagues.

Wow those trade offers are all abysmal. The only one even remotely 'ok' is Michael and Jennings for Wilson but even that's pushing it to me. But Eddie Royal and Rod Streeter? The owner must of thought your were tripping on some pretty serious LSD to think that was even a remotely real offer. Why? Obviously the buy low is in full effect for this guy. In my dynasty league I have received 4 offers in 10 days for him and one email asking if I was ready to dump him yet.
Eddie Royal and Rod Streeter for David Wilson
Ryan Mathews for David Wilson
Golden Tate and BenJarvus GreenEllis for David Wilson
Greg Jennings and Christine Micheal for David Wilson
I have also sent out one offer with Wilson involved David Wilson, Dwayne Bowe, Danny Amendola and a 2014 first, it should be top 6, for Calvin Johnson. Owner hasn't responded but is 1 - 2 with the least points scored in the league.
Before the season started Wilson's value was a top 10 back in dynasty or a mid to late second round pick in start up. Now, I believe people are trying to buy him as a top 30 back at roughly a 8th or 9th round start up price. I think his value is some where in the middle around a mid to late 5th round start up price. These are just my experiences, I hope this helps others in trades.
Yeah... I suppose. I see it really as Jennings has very small value in dynasty right now. So I'm evaluating that on Michael vs Wilson. They both have extreme amounts of talent, the difference being that Michael has two other talented RBs in front of him and Wilson has the opportunity now. So I'd still give a large edge to the Wilson end of that trade. I also don't believe that 3 down games is reason to take someone who in the preseason was considered a Top 5-10 dynasty RB, and drop him out of the top 20 or 30 like a lot of people seem to be.Michael / Jennings for Wilson is a pretty reasonable initial offer IMO.
Some people had Wilson that high -- I thought it was a mistake then also. I like Wilson, but he still carries a bunch of big time question marks as to receiving usage, long term role, and durability -- similar to Michael. Michael has more competition (at least until Lynch's contract balloons in 2015) but he'll likely be stepping into a better situation in a younger offense eventually. Wilson's biggest problem moving forward might be the huge decline of the Giants' offensive line, and that's generally not a quick fix. NY feels like much more of a passing team to me now than they were earlier in the Coughlin era.Yeah... I suppose. I see it really as Jennings has very small value in dynasty right now. I take Decker/Ball. I am not a fan of Montee, but he's still a young RB prospect with some upside. Decker is a WR1/2 until he or Manning leaves Denver, and he could provide WR2 production/value even after that. Too much for Wilson, in my opinion.Just saw Wilson dealt for Decker/Montee Ball
I understand the buy low angle, but if I wanted the guy I would bring better offers to show I was serious.I'm confused at the selling of Wilson in dynasty. It's been 3 games this year and the entire team has looked awful, not just him. Look what he did in the last few games last year when the team looked decent. You're nuts if you're giving up on him in dynasty. In redraft, I guess I can understand the concern, but I'm still on the "buy" train.
Pretty sure that Coughlin isn't going to just close the book either way on a former 1st rounder who just turned 22 regardless of what happens on Sunday. This coming week may be the perfect storm for Wilson... to find his way to the bench forever. That KC defense at home is scary, they are very hawk like getting to the ball. Granted two games have come against turnover prone teams Philly and Jacksonville, but man this could make or break him for the year and beyond in Coughlin's eyes, which at this point is all that matters. I believe opportunities will come this Sunday for Wilson, let's hope he makes good on that and not repeat his week 1 performance. One way or another, the wait is almost over.
I wouldn't really call them "ball hawks". The only RB fumble they've recorded all season was a fumble by Lance Dunbar in the Dallas game. Otherwise, Vick fumbled a bunch against them (big shock there, Vick hasn't been able to hold onto the the ball his entire career) and that's it. But there's a big difference from a QB being blind side strip sacked and a RB being striped. Just saying, they're a great defense but they aren't really hawks in terms of forcing fumbles. This coming week may be the perfect storm for Wilson... to find his way to the bench forever. Agree, I watched two of the games and not that it resulted in actual takeaways, but these guys constantly had their hands in the cookie jar with the RB's they faced.I wouldn't really call them "ball hawks". They can be run on. The Eagles got to them on the ground (7+ per carry). I'm not using the opener against Jacksonville or a game where Dallas ran it 13 times as a barometer of the Chiefs' dominance. This coming week may be the perfect storm for Wilson... to find his way to the bench forever. I'll agree with this... as of this moment I'm willing to say they can definitely be run on. At least until further notice. JAX you just stack 8 or 9 in the box and dare Blaine Gabbert to beat you... not difficult to shut down MJD there. Dallas just abandoned the run. Philly completely lit them up on every single run they attempted. Not only did Vick have 4 for 99 but Shady also recorded 20 for 158. 10 of Shady's 20 carries were for 5 yards or more and 3 of the runs resulted in 18, 30, 41. I'm not saying Wilson is Shady or even that the Giants can run block that well for Wilson to have this kind of chance. But the runs will be there, I fully expect to see WIlson get at least 15 carries in this game and all he needs in a small hole to run. It wouldn't be insane to think he'll have a good game this week (finally). If the Giants are smart they'll use a lot of Wilson early to try and keep Justin Houston at bay as much as possible. They can be run on. The Eagles got to them on the ground (7+ per carry). I just landed him for MJDI'm trying to target Wilson in a re-draft. Finding it hard to gauge the proper trade value for him. Was thinking of someone like Tavon Austin to a WR needy team. But then I wonder about Brown coming back and it becoming a committee again. I watched his limited runs from the Panthers game. He looks good IMO. He still is the primary kick returner too it appears. I see most of the talk in here being dynasty trades. Anyone getting him in re-draft leagues? Curious to see what his going rate is
After re-reading his post I think he may have been suggesting the Chiefs will just attack the football hoping to get Wilson to put it on the ground, which is possible. I like his chances to break through this week though if the Giants can keep the game close.I'll agree with this... as of this moment I'm willing to say they can definitely be run on. I'm rolling with Wilson in my one league this week as my options are really better him and Ridley. Ridley looks almost drop able at this point as the Pats are winning and still not using him.
Brown won't be back until week 11. He shouldn't be a factor in your decision to acquire Wilson now in a redraft league.I'm trying to target Wilson in a re-draft. MJD. Hmmm, I don't think I'd give up MJD for him but that's just personal taste I guess. Maybe Lamar Miller can get me Wilson. I think people are so starved for RBs they probably are going to look for some sort of RB in return
That's a good point. I didn't realize Brown was on that type of timeline/IR. ThanksBrown won't be back until week 11. If you buy low on Wilson in week 3 you're expecting production to get you into the playoffs. If he carves out the role many of us predicted by playing exceptionally well then Brown coming back won't hurt him any more than Scott or Jacobs will have during weeks 4-10.My playoffs start after week 11. In redraft I would consider Hartline if I needed a receiver. In dynasty the above statement is true, if you are serious about getting your hands on Wilson then bring a decent offer or you are likely to get no answer or a decline with no counterAs a Wilson owner there's no way I would take mid range WRs like Thompkins or Hartline for him.
No, I'm not really 'throwing it out' I'm using logic and usage to determine I think the rushing defense leaves more to be desired than people are seeing.so, of a 3 game sample including demarco murray and mjd, you throw out the 2 that don't suit you and use mccoy as your measuring stick. They can be run on. eagles and giants have a somewhat different offense.
