But yeah, I agree. David Wilson hasn't lived up to the hype, his potential, whatever everyone wants to call it this year. If he turns out fine and doesn't have anything career threatening, I'm still convinced he will be a top 10 fantasy back in the near future. As a Giants fan, I'm fine with them sitting him the rest of the year unless they miraculously make a comeback in their division and are somehow in the hunt for the playoffs. People easily forget how he looked at the end of last year. I'm not sure what they're excuses are for that. I think it's pretty clear what the excuse was the beginning of this year. Terrible team, terrible offensive line, always getting hit in the backfield, not being used properly (between the tackles, not in space). If he doesn't play another snap this year as a precaution and he's 100% going into next year, I wonder what his ADP will be.

People used the term "idiot" which I found abusive.

Wilson will drop a mile next year, and be a value/sleeper pick. The Giants still want to run the ball but people will note their weak line play and claim Andre "DL for Hangnail" Brown will vulture the goal-line work.

Coughlin was neurotic early on- the Giants told everyone they were SB contenders when the reality was JPP wasn't healthy and Hakeem Nicks decided to mail it in. You can't lose 2 guys like that, and still have a patchwork secondary, and have an underperforming OL, and still be a contender. Throw in some bad bounces and you're suddenly 0-6. Wilson wasn't given the shot he needed- he's a unique talent who needs to play on a team that is committed to him and has the right blocking scheme. Warrick Dunn had this same issue, and was eventually successful.

The offensive line is playing MUCH better since Wilson got hurt. They've started the same group of guys now for 3 weeks in a row and the line is finally starting to block as a cohesive unit. In the first 5 weeks Wilson played behind 8 different starting offensive linemen. Including Week 3 vs Carolina where Snee and Baas played the entire game severely injured. Since then the line has looked the exact same every week. And the run and pass blocking shows. Here's the cumulative offensive line scores week to week based on the Giants offensive line starters.

Your post is very logical, but the Giants NEVER mail it in. They have a lot of integrity in this regard, perhaps too much for their own good. Eli will be playing in the 4th quarter Week 17 if there is a chance the game can be won. Again, irrationally.

Why did Hillis outperform Adrian Peterson? Is he better? Or maybe there's 10 other guys on the field that contribute to how a player performs? Also, he has shown he can produce in the NFL at the end of last season. It's not like an Ingram who was just never able to get it going.

Again, this is just my opinion of the guy. It seems to me like most people posting here against him are disgruntled fantasy owners who just see the stat line at the end of the week. This is the shark pool to discuss players to get ahead of the curve. Making predictions about a player based on what we see in talent, situation etc.

I don't care about his fantasy aspect right now. I bought him a couple weeks before his injury for some of my bench players so I've lost nothing. I am thankful he seemed to always get grabbed right before me in drafts though. He has been a bust for fantasy purposes this year but I don't think he's a bust as a player.

You do realize that Jacobs had a huge game vs PHI? (Who has made everyone look like a 100 yrd rusher.) (In that game Wilson had 16 yrds on just a few carries and a TD already.) And Hillis played vs MIN. (The same MIN Def that made Pitt and its swiss cheese O'line look good with Leveon Bell and his 80 yds and 2 TD's) I think we need to have some perspective. Who they are playing has a lot to do with how players look. MIN and PHI are making a lot of RB's look pretty sweet. I wouldn't put too much stock in that.

You do realize that Jacobs had a huge game vs PHI? (Who has made everyone look like a 100 yrd rusher.) (In that game Wilson had 16 yrds on just a few carries and a TD already.) And Hillis played vs MIN. (The same MIN Def that made Pitt and its swiss cheese O'line look good with Leveon Bell and his 80 yds and 2 TD's) I think we need to have some perspective. Who they are playing has a lot to do with how players look. MIN and PHI are making a lot of RB's look pretty sweet. I wouldn't put too much stock in that.

Swiss cheese against everyone except for him I guess, right? When Wilson is in the backfield, all of the sudden they're a run-stuffing defense.

I'm a Wilson owner and want him to do well being such, but I think you're ignoring the fact that he has some serious injury concerns that might jeopardize his long term viability in the league, and I would argue that Coughlin tried to take the training wheels off this year. It didn't work.

This is one of the dumbest most ill-informed arguments I've read about why Wilson sucks to date short of "Wilson sucks, /end thread".

The offensive line is playing MUCH better since Wilson got hurt. They've started the same group of guys now for 3 weeks in a row and the line is finally starting to block as a cohesive unit. In the first 5 weeks Wilson played behind 8 different starting offensive linemen. Including Week 3 vs Carolina where Snee and Baas played the entire game severely injured. Since then the line has looked the exact same every week. And the run and pass blocking shows. Here's the cumulative offensive line scores week to week based on the Giants offensive line starters.

Week 1: -2.6

Week 2: -2.8

Week 3: -1.3

Week 4: -5.3

Week 5: -1.8

Week 6: +3.8

Week 7: +1.5

Notice a trend? I sure do...

he was well on his way for a big day and had racked up 7 fantasy points and was on his way to 20. The David wilson thread should be RIP until he comes back form his inj. Hopefully he is able to play and recover from this neck ordeal. I think that's the main thing with this kid because he is still young and in Dynasty has some real value in the future if the giants can committ to him and block like they did for Jacobs,hillis I mean come on Wilson would have shredded MINN had he played.

Jamaal Charles first 7 runs against Philly went for 15 yards

Alfred Morris first 7 runs against Philly went for 21 yards.

Doug Martin first 7 runs against Philly went for 23 yards.
