Davis Webb, QB, New York Giants (1 Viewer)

Might depend where he ends up ultimately traded. liked him mostly due to his situation, but looking at the Raiders situation, it's more of a trade for a career backup.

MIA, JAX, LAC would be teams I'd be maybe a little more excited about, but the value for Webb is eventually playing with OBJ, Engram and Barkley.

He isnt their QB so I'm not surprised to hear this
Like I said earlier, career backup is his upside.

possibly. considering he's basically been a guy you could get for free, hes certainly worth the risk.

Let's see where he ends up, then we can seal his fate. what I've liked about him the most is how much of a film rat he is.

I hear this argument a lot. People were saying it about Tavon Austin, even though we now have six years of data on him. "Worth a flyer, if he doesn't work out you cut him for some other guy."

The whole point of having these threads is to decide which of the guys you can get for free is worth having. And if you have the wrong one, when you cut him, the smarter owner in your league will already have the guy you should have had in the first place. Is Davis Webb better than Taylor Heinicke? Or Brian Hoyer? Or Jacoby Brissett? Are those guys "worth the risk"? Well, it depends which one of them is more likely to become an effective starter somewhere in the future.

Comparing Webb to a guy who has 6 years of data, or QBs with many years is completely flawed.

Webb had a redshirt rookie year. Was a 3rd round pick. And was behind the aging and declining Manning. And free on top of it.

Yeah, if he goes to a bad situation, then this thread likely does and we move on. but to pretend like he should be mentioned in the same conversation as Hoyer or Brisset is a bad comparison

Should we forget about Rudolph next year? Hes essentially in a similar situation as Webb started 2018 in

My friends say Tanney has been making some plays. Where's he fit in? Not worth a new thread sorry for the sidebar
Surprisingly fitting now. Didn't mean, didn't intend for this to matter

Well, then call it Deshone Kizer, CJ Beathard, Joshua Dobbs, Chad Kelly.

My point has been that Webb isn't particularly good, so it doesn't really matter what his situation is or how cheap he is to acquire.

Chad Kelly absolutely.

Kizer sure. we shouldnt close the book on any of these guys.

but yes, if hes no good then hes no good. this preseason he didnt look bad once he settled himself down. to each their own I guess

Signed to the Jets practice squad.

Cuttable at this point IMO. Maybe revisit next year if he is traded again but I think this seals his fate. unless darnold conpletely busts, which doesn't look likely, hes a backup for the foreseeable future.
