according to the Denver Post, Houston has signed Ron Dayne.

I believe he is just a depth signing as he has never shown anything before, but who knows, What do you guys think?

The link says that Dayne may start

The Denver Post reports the Houston Texans have agreed to terms with RB Ron Dayne on Sunday and claimed CB Roc Alexander off waivers. Both Alexander and Dayne were released by Denver on Saturday. The Texans are coached by former Denver OC Gary Kubiak. Houston's new GM Rick Smith also came from Denver this offseason. Dayne was a mild surprise in being cut by the Broncos. He was the starting tailback at the beginning of training camp but he slid to No. 4 after a turf-toe injury. He is healthy and may start for the Texans because of an injury to RB Domanick Davis.

Frankly, the link sounds like it was written by some guy in Denver who doesn't know a heck of a lot? Just my opinion. . .

That's not from the Denver Post article. That's just some ill-advised editorializing by FFMastermind.

Yeah sure. A guy who was cut and couldn't beat out the Bells and Cobbs and Nash is going to start over Lundy and Morency in a little less than a week with the Texans. I really don't think so. Some of these writers really have no clue.

Why are Lundy and Morency suddenly so much better than Cobbs and Bell(s)?

Oops. I'm wrong. That is from the Denver Post article (below the advertisement, so I didn't see it the first time). My apologies to FFMastermind. It's the Denver Post that went kooky.

My opinion: Morency > T Bell. Lundy > M Bell. Both are better than Dayne.

Yo no se, pero no quiero Tatum Bell.

Interesting Rotoworld analysis. They're suggesting that Lundy and Morency's value goes down, and Dayne could start.

Texans claimed RB Ron Dayne off waivers from Denver.Score one for Rotoworld: We called it a week ago. Dayne is unlikely to start in Houston soon, but his presence somewhat deadens the value of Wali Lundy and Vernand Morency. If the young kids struggle, coach Gary Kubiak won't hesitate to go to Dayne, who knows the system. He's worth a look in deep leagues.

we really have to do something about our border situation...

Between Dayne, Lundy & Morency, who has the most experience in the Denver zone blocking scheme?

Between Dayne, Lundy & Morency, who is Kubiak the most familar with?

ya mean the one that he just left because he could not perform?Granted he has experience but obviously he wasnt performing at much of a successful level within that system.

That dry Texas air my friend. Obviously doesn't help knee catilage grow back though. :(

Yes. Unfortunately, for those poor sould who make their homes in HOU.

To think Dayne who hasn't been around this team for a day yet would be picked off waivers and thrown into a starting role, is ridiculous.

To think he could be part of a RBBC, especially in short yardage..very likely

LOL at the FF players pimpin Dayne again  :bag: :lmao:

It he could not make it in Denver(best running team the past 10 years in the NFL) why would he start anywhere else.

He will not get much playing time ... He will be cut as soon as Houston experiments with Dayne as a short yardage or goal line back.

The only chance Dayne probably has is if both Lundy and Morency either get hurt, or really, and I mean REALLY, stink up the joint in JJ Arrington fashion.

Actually, the Atlanta Falcons have been the NFL's #1 ranked rushing team the last two years. But we get your point.

If there is any team, other than Denver, where Dayne could do some damage, it is Houston. But I'm with you, the odds of Dayne winning the job are slim to none.

Says Dayne is likely to remain behind Lundy and Morency: "Before the agreement with Dayne, who is to arrive in Houston on Sunday night, the Texans had just two tailbacks on the roster, rookie Wali Lundy and second-year veteran Vernand Morency, after waiving rookie Chris Taylor earlier in the day. Lundy will start Sunday's season opener and, even with the addition of Dayne, it's likely that Morency will remain the top backup for now."

It's the "for now" part that is discomforting to Lundy/Morency owners.

IMO, Lundy/Morency will get a fair chance to hold the position because Dayne is still bothered by turf toe and because Houston is horrible, Kubiak has an incentive to find out if he has young talent. Dayne is there to teach the system (like he did with Mike Bell) and to remind the two youngsters that there is someone behind them that can push them (i.e., motivate them). So Dayne's chance is if both Lundy and Morency fail. Like Droughns coming out of no where because Anderson got hurt and Griffin was a failure.

because Vick adds rushing #s. Who is the #1 rushing team with just RBs stats.

So for those with both Lundy and Morency, would it be advisable to drop Morency for Dayne? Or just drop Morency outright in the event of an RBBC? IMO, I suspect Lundy to be at the top of the chart. But given enough time, could Dayne move ahead of Morency?

I'd really like to get out of my Lundy/Morency-two-spots-for-1-RB situation on my FF team.
