The only place I've seen high school portrayed more accurately was Freaks and Geeks. As far movies go, DaC is #1.
As much as I like D&C, it doesn't come close to depicting the awkwardness and social status differences in F&G. Really one of a kind.
That's a fair point. It reminds me if senior year however, as many of those barriers seemed to come down a bit as compared to earlier years... And there were nights where there was some big party and everyone seemed to get along. But day to day you have a point. It still feels like a great high school weekend more than any other film I've seen.
Good point, towards the end people start understanding that everything in high school is BS.
But there's still always an O'Banion or a Darla in every school too.

Darla was hot.

You know you love her.

The 13 Greatest Cars From Film

Melba Toast coming in at #11.
You got yer wood screws in?

But the Citroen DS Chapron from Gattaca is my absolute dream car. I would kill any one of you here and eat your brains for that car.

I mean... I like the car a lot. :oldunsure:

eta: #### it... one of you geeks would come in correct my misquote- "you better have your would screws"

Air Raid or it's your ###.

An all time favorite of mine
I grew up in Huntsville (where link later is from) and remember my brother entering high school in 88 and still being subjected air raid and bacon frying and stuff like that. No idea if those same pranks happened other places but it was very real at Huntsville high.

I didn't know whether to post in here or the "I feel old" thread, but I've been bar hopping it up lately and everyone who is under 28 has no idea what this movie is. Very depressing.

I heard about Dazed and Confused for the first time when Joey Lauren Adams told me that was the reason she was in town (Austin) when I tried to hit on her before I even knew who she was. I remember her telling me she was on a sitcom on FOX at the time, I tried watching it, I think it was on a Sunday night, but she was on it for like 3 minutes at the end, and the sitcom was no good.

Sadly, I remember that show. Think it was called "Puttin' on the Ritz" or something like that. Starred Joseph Bologna and a pre-Friends Matthew LeBlanc as his son. Joey Lauren Adams was the hot Twinkie next door who was always hitting on the soon-to-be Joey.

My wife, who is 28, has no idea other than my repeated comments about the movie. Not only that, but I can tell you she'd likely hate the movie as well.

You lost me at 28-year-old wife, GB .

Wasn't that a Married with Children spin off?

I work with folks who are like 31-32 and it seems like a complete generational change between them and my wife. 32 knows this movie. My wife at 28? No idea. And my wife's had five years of hearing my old ### talk about "old stuff" like Led Zep and walkmans and #### to help out by now.

Great stuff. I loved this line from McConaughey. You just know this could be any of a thousand nights in his life and probably one going on right now.

"McConaughey: Gets to be four hours later, and my girlfriend is gone, man, and Don and I are pretty lubricated. We’re talking about life and women and some great golf hole he’s played, and I guess we got a little rambunctious."

Seems they had more fun filming than the kids in the movie had partying.

Nice one, but this one killed me:

McConaughey: For me personally, Dazed fans are my favorite fans. They never want anything. They like to come by, say the first half of a line, and wait for me to finish it: “. . . It’d be a lot cooler if you did.” Then they walk off giggling. Just giggling.

Mitch bothers me, a lot. That's the only thing that doesn't make this movie number 1 for me.
:pinchesnoseandshakeshead:
:goodposting:

Sidenote: Mitch and I are eskimo brothers.
Is this something that you know for positive? I ask because I'm trying to envision the woman that would proudly proclaim that she slept with him. And it's not pretty.
:lmao: She was an odd one but pretty hot for a #### buddy. Black girl with huge chest pillows. She did nude art modeling on the side.

I think it came up because she wanted to attend this Octopus Project show that her "ex-boyfriend" was involved in.

I have this on DVR, had no idea it was considered a quality flick. Thought it was a cult comedy that people talk about because McConaughey is in it. Will definitely check it out!

Great movie... Makes you wish you were 17 and living in Texas during the mid 70's.

"...oh and Mitch Kramer... Mitchie Mitchie Mitchie.. we're looking for you pal- your ### will be purple before the day is over... "
