DDP Yoga - anyone tried it (1 Viewer)

The wife and I started it awhile ago. I still do it. the wife hated DDP and went back to normal hot girl instructor yoga
My wife likes to be told what to do by men. ;)

How long you been doing DDP, Buddy??
off and on for over a year. I have neck and hip issues and it has been great. I combined this with doing push ups, chin ups and a weight loss program and i have lost 140 lbs.
GTFO! I had no idea. I have no where near that kind of work to get done weight wise, but with my own back/knee issues am looking to get my fitness level back where it belongs without trying to fit in trips to the gym. Which worked well for me, BTW when I could get there.

Do you follow the nutrition guide at all??

 
So how does this differ from "regular" yoga?
It combines yoga moves with accelerating the heart rate into the "fat burning" zone through breath control and adding "Dynamic Resistance"- engaging muscles- to those moves- or as Smack put it up above: HULKIDUPPPPPPPPPP!!

What exactly are the objectionable "spiritual" aspects of yoga? I used to take classes at a local gym, and sometimes an instructor would have us do sort of a meditation/visualization thing at the end, but it wasn't as if there was any doctrine being jammed down anyone's throat. Meditation is one of the most beneficial things you can do to reduce stress and clear your mind. I don't care if it originated with eastern religions. It simply works.

I should've quoted the OP. This is what confused me:

I've avoided Yoga because honestly the spiritual side of it is a non-starter for me. I know to some it's very important and I don't mean to disparage them but for me personally, identifying my chakras and trying to find some kind of enlightenment has zero appeal, if anything it's the greatest hindrance to getting involved. I'm very confident in my spirituality and I've done my time with Eastern Philosophies earlier in my life. My goal is purely athletic/fitness and anything beyond that is a waste of time to me.
My classes were just poses, focus on your breathing, and occasionally the meditation at the end. :shrug:

This description isn't necessarily inconsistent with "regular" yoga.
I'm thinking that, "HULKIDUPPPPPPPPPP!!" isn't usually found in traditional yoga... along with push ups, squats and cruches.

Don't know. I never did yoga, but I have heard that some classes delve deeper into the "enlightenment" aspects than others.

I'm thinking that, "HULKIDUPPPPPPPPPP!!" isn't usually found in traditional yoga... along with push ups, squats and cruches.
These are actually incorporated (in various forms) in a lot of yoga classes. But, ya, DDP's hollering (not meant to be a criticism) is likely not found in your average yoga studio.

No I do not. I am doing my own thing which is tracking calories, eating organic and limited the amount of animal protein I eat.

The key to the DDP yoga is you are constantly flexing your muscles. He talks about being a fire hydrant and shooting the water out of your hands to explain what you should be doing. Its amazing how tiring it is if you actually keep with it. It is much harder than any standard yoga session.
