DE Jadeveon Clowney, DAL (1 Viewer)

Rotoworld:

Texans coach Bill O'Brien said his goal is to have Jadeveon Clowney (knee) back at practice by August 17.

That would give Clowney roughly a month to prepare for September 13's season opener against Kansas City. Knee issues limited the 22-year-old to four games as a rookie in 2014. Houston will have one of the AFC's top front sevens if Clowney can recapture his college form and stay on the field this season.

Clowney is looking good and moving well and mixing it up really well. I hate to be optimistic and my high expectations for the Texans defense does not include him. If he is able to contribute as it looks like he might, I will put the Texans defense at top 3 instead of top 5.

Rotoworld:

Texans coach Bill O'Brien expects OLB Jadeveon Clowney's snap count to continue increasing.
Clowney played 49-of-78 snaps in Week 2 after playing 30-of-70 in Week 1. "I think the more he plays, the better he’ll get, I really do," O’Brien said. "He’s shown us the signs of what we expect out of him, chasing the ball down, pressuring the quarterback, taking on blocks in the running game." Clowney has yet to log a sack, but has been generating pressure, grading out positively in Pro Football Focus' ratings.

Can he fetch any return value still in a trade? or has he lost it all?

A bunch of excellent LBs are slotted nicely for them in every mock.

I don't know how long Cushing has but he can play outside or inside.

I really like Mercilus. At times, I forget about Clowney, because of him. He has his days.

Have Cushing play whatever is the opposite of the stud you draft and move forward.

It seems like they haven't moved forward since D'qwell jackson. It's always a couple nice looking LBs and a D-lineman and....they're always about to be a very impressive defense.

Texans OLB Jadeveon Clowney's foot issue was a Lisfranc injury, but did not require surgery.
Clowney says he is 100 percent healthy. "I feel great," Clowney said after Monday's OTAs session. "I got healthy enough to be where I want to be." The injury held Clowney out of Week 17 and Houston's humiliating Wild Card loss. The No. 1 overall pick of 2014 draft has appeared in just 17 of a possible 32 games. He's flashed enough when on the field that he can't yet be considered a bust, but 2016 is a crossroads year for the 23-year-old pass rusher.

Such an obvious reach for headlines.

I'm Merrill Hoge! I'm controversial! Blow up my Twitter feed! Hate me!

Not an altogether stupid thing to do, try and be the next First Take polarizing a##hat. But Hoge doesn't even believe what he is saying.
Here Hoge says Mack was a far better football player than Clowney, and he was also the one that said Manziel would be out of the league in three years and the GM who drafted him would be fired.

Hmmm...

Maybe people should start listening to Hoge....

I think Demarcus Ware pulled it off pretty well.
And Von Miller  And, Melvin Ingram did pretty well last year.

People just need to realize that tackle heavy format makes a great RushLB a low end LB2. And a good RushLB a LB3/4. If your format is deep enough, then they definitely have significant value.

I was trying to think of similarly sized players. Miller and Ingram are more prototypical 3-4 OLBs.

Thought of another big guy example: Mario Williams did pretty well for one year in Houston as a 3-4 OLB.

Jadeveon Clowney is practicing at 265 pounds this summer, and has appeared "visibly lighter and quicker."
Clowney played at 284 pounds last season. "He's a guy that's gotten better," coach Bill O'Brien said. "I think he's added a couple of pass rush moves. He's getting better every day." Clowney's ever-troublesome health has taken on even greater importance with J.J. Watt recovering from back surgery.

Now he's playing DE...

What are the odds of a position eligibility change in-season for him? Would be huge for his value in IDP leagues.

Two tackles or a loss, three QB hits and a sack.  Man, if this guy turns into an animal, HOU could be a serious contender.

Yes, he's still in the league.

He's in the playoffs and he's in the Pro Bowl.
Things have changed with Clowney.  He got healthy and is now a destructive force on D.  I did not think he was going to turn it around.  I am wrong again.

He has played well the second half of this season.  Not nearly well enough to be worth the number one, number one however.

No player in history benefited more from one unblocked play then Clowney.
