Dealership service appointments (1 Viewer)

I made an appointment for a rear differential fluid service earlier this week for 9am today.  When I get to the dealership I am told they are 3 hours behind.  So here I am waiting.  I understand there are walk-ins, etc but still how can you be this far off on schedules.

I also am capable of doing it Myself, but I have a 7yr/120k warranty and 12k on the vehicle so I am not sure if I can do it myself or not yet.  I need to read the warranty.

That's some warranty.  Is that bumper to bumper?   You pay extra for that?

Bought my wife a new 4Runner last year. It has free oil changes for life.  So far so good, but maybe I’ve been lucky.

Not to make excuses for the dealer, but it could have been something like a tech calling in sick or double booking appointments. Make sure you mention something about your displeasure to the Service Manager and ask for a fee car wash or something. If they balk, casually mention you’ll be sure to note this on the Customer Satisfaction Survey they will invariably send you.

Kindly tell the service manager this is unacceptable, especially since you had an appointment. 3 hours behind at 9:00 is idiocy.

Find another dealer.

I have a 2010 4Runner.  I've given up on 2 Toyota dealerships so far and refuse to return to them for service.  I love the 4Runner, but they have been ridiculously inefficient, inept, and over priced for service.  I hope you luck continues.

Yes.  I can handle Mechanical, but all of the electronics in cars now scare me.  It was 2-3k from the dealership I bought the car from but there is a dealer who has it for like half price I purchased from instead.  You can buy the Honda warranty from any dealer in my state.

Agreed.

I am a Service Manager at an Auto dealership and I have no idea how you could get 3 hours behind without 1) unplanned absences 2) a job taking longer than planned (which seems highly unlikely on a Saturday) 3) Lack of training with staff on scheduling.

Made an appointment at our dealership. Asked for the first appointment on a Sunday morning--8am. Got there at 7:55. Place was already open and there were 3 cars ahead of us. They didn't make any effort to get us ahead of them.

I had a dealership tell me all an appointment did was guarantee the car would be seen that day.

I told the service person that was completely asinine and he agreed but said it was the dealership policy.  When the customer service dept called me for a survey after I told them the same.  They were going to have a manager call me to discuss this and some other issues I expressed to them and am still waiting for that call 3 years later.  I also had to explain to them that my rating of their service dept was in no way a reflection of their service person helping me (he was good, it was their rules and policies that were the problem) and they could not seem to accept that.

I now use a different dealership for my services and they have been mostly good.

Might as well ask this here...

Have a 2018 CR-V that I bought new, and the other day the driver door sensor started malfunctioning. As in, the door was fully closed but I was getting a dash message that the door was open which led to constant beeping and the dome lights staying on. Open door, slam it, rinse, repeat, no change. It would only be a nuisance if not for the fact that when I shut the car off and closed the door, the lights would stay on which is obviously not good from a battery standpoint. Thankfully I was able to stick something to the sensor to make the car realize it was fully closed and turn the lights off.

I assume fixing that will be covered under the general warranty (I'm way within years and miles)?
