DeAng vs SJax: A dynasty question for FBG's (1 Viewer)

In all of the FBG Dynasty rankings/narratives, it seems as though Steven Jackson is getting the "dump him now while you still can" treatment due to his workload for the past 8 seasons. Conversely, DeAng is getting lots of love for having little mileage for a 28 year old back AND the fact that he might end up in Denver. Yet...not a single FBG has DeAng ranked ahead of SJax, with the margin a little bigger than I expected. I am curious as to why?

Which of these two backs would you target for this season and next if you were making a title run right now, and why? Is SJax the safe move, while DeAng is the upside-move?

Curious about the answer on this one.

My feeling is that DWill is undervalued because there's so much unknown w/both injury and contract. He will probably be on the rise once the lockout ends and he's signed & working with a team.

They are real close in the Dynasty rankings, Jackson tied for #12 RB with Williams at #14. And Jeff Pasquino does have Williams ahead of Jackson.

I think it is just the uncertainty over where he will be playing. If it is Miami or Denver his stock may rise. If he resigns with Carolina, then his value drops. Anywhere else, well that depends. If he lands in a favorable spot, you should see him bumped up a few notches and probably past Jackson.

Personally I wouldn't target either one at the moment. In a 22 round, 12 team PPR start up I completed about 3 weeks ago, Jackson was taken 3.07, Williams at 5.04

Steven Jackson had a pretty bad year last year when you look at his ypc. He looks to be declining and the only reason I can think of that keeps people thinking he's more valuable than Williams is situation. And both of those have a very good chance of changing when FA starts.

Give me Jackson, hands down.

Williams will likely either A) being sharing time in Carolina (which arguably a better RB) or B) Or in Denver, getting rushing TD's by Jesus and coming out on 3rds for Knowshon.

Jackson has little or no competition, will get goalline carries with far less potential to get vultured.

Jackson could have his worst statistical NFL season this year and I think it'd still be better than Williams's upside at this point.

So you would rather have the guy who has been injury prone (except for 1 great year) and been not able to be on the field over the guy who has always shown up and played through pain every year? I have DeAngelo and think he could have a good year if he lands in the right spot but I will tell you if the Jackson owner wanted to trade with me tommorrow I would do it in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't call Williams injury prone. And the injuries he's had aren't the kind that are a threat to his career. No knee tears, hip issues, etc.

Deangelo had one great year , when everything clicked in the CAR backfield. It doesn't matter to me how many more carries Sjax has, he is a more talented back, who has played through horrible situations. The Rams are on the rise and with the ascension of Bradford, I would be more than comfortable having Sjax on my team. The days of 8 man fronts on every play are coming to an end.

As I dynasty owner who has both players on his team I can tell you I'd struggle to pick which one I value more. If I'm making my depth chart for the upcoming year now I'd have Jackson higher. That likely wouldn't change with DW going to a different team in free agency. I think I'd really have to see DW stake his claim to supremacy by outproducing Jax consistently in the early part of the season.

However if asked which one I'd likely trade the answer would also be Jackson. I think he has the higher risk of production tailing off significantly due to wear and tear. I think DW will be successful provided he stays healthy. I can't say for certain that this isn't the year Jax falls off. Also, DW won't net as much in return at present on the trade market due to a disappointing 2010.

In the three dynasty startups I was in this off-season SJax was taken as RB17, RB18 and RB20. DWil was taken as RB19, RB22, RB24. Pretty close.

In PPR I would stick with SJax. The guy may not be a top 5 back, but he produces solid results. D Will has more risk in terms of where he lands. This question will shake out more once this lockout ends.
