DeAngelo Hall (1 Viewer)

I enjoyed watching him play, the few times I could, last year. He seems like an "up N comer" to me.

 
He supposedly clocked a 4.15 40 at VT, on an indoor track.

Yeah, I think Kevin Jones supposedly clocked those same times. There's links for that as well. Just ain't happening. Hall is fast, and he proved that coming out of VaTech to earn his draft grade, but no one is running the 4.1's. The fastest legit times are low 4.3's and those are on fast tracks.I always liked Hall. He was a stud defensive playmaker and punt returner at VaTech. He's shown some flash in his NFL game, but he not Deion Sanders, yet.

Allen Rossum won last year, Deangelo Hall this year. And Vick could probably run even with both of them in a race.

 
Mel, what was Mikey's completion percetange in College? It is on target with where he is in the NFL---very low

Vick when asked who would win in a Race against Hall, he said it'll be close but I'll give it to him. They never raced before however.
 
Everytime people talk about Deangelo Hall being fast, I remember (and usually post about) that preseason game when Hall was a rookie and trying to cover Randy Moss.

Hall ran even with Moss for about 25 yards and Randy turned on the afterburners and just toasted him. TD Moss. Announcer: "Welcome to the NFL, Deangelo Hall."

One thing we all should be able to agree on...

Brian Moorman is possibly the coolest punter in the league*

I was so rooting for him in both the 40 (a mere step behind Sanders and Hall) and in the obstacle course (3rd place!)

*- "possibly" only included due to the existence of Todd Sauerbrun

 
He was a 400 meter hurdle champoin in college. That boy is fast! I think the Bills need to do more fake punts with him back there. He's just another weapon that other teams aren't even close to having.

 
Edging out Steve Smith isn't that big of a deal IMO. Smith was always more quick than fast. Bob Sanders too. Mathis vs Hall, however, must've been a great matchup.

 
hall was a nationally ranked prep sprinter... he was also one of the fastest college players & no doubt he is a fast pro... mathis (also i think nationally ranked prep & small college sprinter) didn't get as good a start & was making up ground in a hurry the last 15-20 yards... looked like he would have smoked him in a longer 60 m sprint...

then again, it isn't often where you sprint 60 m in straight line in a game situation...

Most entertaining part of the skills competition. Moorman says, "So I asked them what else could I do? Put me in anything I can do." So they stick him into the obstacle course.How funny was it that KRob muffed the last catch in the obstacle course, btw? Up to that point, he was quick and agile. It was like a microcosm of his career. ;)

:confused: Sanders was a 4.3 guy coming into the NFL. If this is more quick than fast, I'd love to see fast.

Steve Smith was just edge by teammate Drew Carter in a recent team 40 event. Carter ran a 4.34 and beat Smith "by a hair".

The News

Panthers' wide receiver Drew Carter proved that he is the fastest wideout on the team when he ran a 4.34-second 40-yard dash recently, just a hair faster than teammate Steve Smith. "Number one," Carter told the Rock Hill Herald of his feat. "I was giving Steve a little stuff, because he's had the crowd for three or four years." Carter's 40-time is especially impressive considering that he has undergone three surgeries to repair a torn ACL. He is currently vying for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart behind Smith and Keary Colbert.

Our View

We're happy for Drew, but he may have put his life at risk when he taunted Smith about his 40-time. After all, this is the same Steve Smith who beat the snot out of former teammate Anthony Bright, who did nothing more than ask for a play to be shown again during a film session. Bright was hospitalized following the attack and has never returned to the NFL.

Did you see the competition. It was not a pure accuracy event. It was based on time, accuracy and mobility. Also would like to add, that on the throws Vick was "off" he completely missed the entire taget....I mean, he not only missed the circular taget with the bulls-eye, but he didn't even hit the large stand holding the bulls-eye.

DeAngelo Hall ran a 4.37 40 at the 2004 NFL Combine.

Jerome Mathis ran a 4.28 last year.

Bob Sanders ran a 4.35 at the 2004 Combine.

Steve Smith ran a 4.41 at the 2001 Combine.

Others worth mentioning:

Champ Bailey ran a 4.28 in 1999.

Darrent Williams ran a 4.30 last year.

I will be looking for this because Larry Allen just :own3d: that bench.EDIT to add I just looked up this guy. Don't know anything about him, but you think a 265 lb. DE can put up more that 43 reps for 225lbs?

In Nov, Kudla shattered his former OSU bench record with a 610 lb press (his prior record was 555 lbs).link:

Kudla's goal is to beat the unofficial Combine record of 45 reps on the bench. He's shooting for 50 reps. Will he get?? Maybe...or maybe he's just trying to make a name for himself. We'll know in a month or so. As of Oct, he was hitting 43 reps. Should be interesting...

Drew must have known that he could out run Smith to his car (40 yards away). ;)

Sanders was leading and stumbled. He beat Hall in the preliminary heats. Sanders is plenty fast.

Marla Ridenour, of the Akron Beacon Journal, reports Ohio State DE Mike Kudla is looking to dazzle scouts with his workout numbers at the NFL combine. Kudla, 6-foot-2 and 272 pounds, could be the talk of the town in the bench press, where prospects lift 225 pounds as many times as they can without a break. The unofficial record is 45. Kudla has hit 52 twice. His teammate, OG Rob Sims, thinks that Kudla has a chance to run the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds. Kudla has said his best time in the 40 came the summer after his senior year in high school. He was clocked at 4.49 seconds when he was 35 pounds lighter.

I'd like to see his arm span. What I've seen of him, he gives the impression of having long arms. A DE with speed, strength, stamina and long arms?
