Dede Westbrook - It’s go time! (1 Viewer)

Is this really a mystery? Minshew isn't very good (or probably wont' be week to week). Jacksonville is going to have an inconsistent offense and probably a bad one. Westbrook is going to make some plays, but it's hard to see him as being consistently part of the offense week to week.
Yeah, just kicking myself for leaving him in my lineup after Foles went down.

I have to cut him. Short bench in a 12 team redraft. Such a shame. With Foles in there.....I was certain he was a 90 reception guy this season. A big breakout year. Not to be.  5th rounder for me too. I really took him a round soon because that is how high my conviction on his season was.

Damn it.

Agree.  Everything was lined up.  Third year WR.  We can't predict injuries.  The shark move is to drop and pick up a replacement that will help you during bye weeks.  That gives you more value.  Guppies will try to hold on based on draft ADP.

Turns out, Minshew was particularly inaccurate with his Westbrook targets.  Of 8 total inaccurate throws, 4 of them were to Westbrook...  out of five targets.

@NoCheckdowns: Chart of Westbrook's Targets

To NON-Westbrook receivers only, Minshew had an accuracy rate that would have placed him in the top 3-5 QB's this week.

Weird huh. Is he ALWAYS going to be inaccurate throwing to Westbrook or is this a buy low situation?  Either way I'm likely dropping, but this analysis DID give me pause.

BTW Minshew was amazing last week.  100% accurate on 24 qualifying attempts.  Best in the league last week.

Dede is my WR3/Flex in a 14 team league, Green is my 4 so looks like I'll be flexing a RB until Green returns.  Not really in a rush to drop Dede, there's nothing out there on the wire to grab anyway.  I'll hang onto him and hope he develops a relationship with Minshew.  Hoping this is just a situation where Minshew has chemistry with Chark/Conley because they've had reps together, and more work with Dede will develop it between the two of them.

Week 1 (Foles only played 12 snaps. Minshew played 47 81%)

D.Westbrook 48 snaps 83% 6 targets 5 receptions 30 yards 1 TD
C.Conley 44 snaps 76% 7 targets 6 receptions 97 yards 1 TD
D.Chark 41 snaps 76% 4 targets 4 receptions 146 yards 1 TD

Week 2

D Westbrook WR 58 87% 5 targets 1 reception 3 yards
C Conley WR 57 85% 5 targets 4 receptions 73 yards
D Chark WR 55 82% 9 targets 7 receptions 55 yards 1 TD

This looks bad.

Thanks to ebzded for the info about how many of those targets Westbrook got were actually on target that context helps.

Westbrook is playing the most out of the 3 WR but he hasn't been as productive.

I think Westbrook is a good player and that he ends up leading the Jaguars in receptions and yards by the end of the season but he is definitely behind right now.

Part of the appeal of Westbrook for me was that Foles seemed to lock on to him as the primary WR. With Foles hurt that may not be the case anymore.

If I owned him, I would look to trade him for or drop him for D.J. Chark
I been done tried that last week. Nothing. I imagine it will be most difficult to get anything for him now.

You can't really drop him in dynasty either. So I guess you're just stuck waiting for Foles and his stupid colarbone to heal.

Dede Westbrook caught 5-of-9 targets for 46 yards in the Jaguars' Week 3 win over the Titans.

Three of Westbrook's missed connections were drops, including what should have been a 22-yard touchdown in the third quarter. 28 of his yards came on a jump ball reception vs. Malcolm Butler that could have easily been picked. Westbrook has a decent 20 targets through three games but only 79 yards to show for it. His WR3 appeal has faded as D.J. Chark emerges as the Jags' No. 1 receiver.

I wanted him in my drafts this year. Got sniped both times for him. Sometimes luck helps saves you from yourself.

Dede Westbrook caught 7-of-11 targets for 82 yards in a Week 5 loss to the Panthers.

Westbrook continues to play second fiddle to D.J. Chark, but the Jaguars are throwing enough for both to sustain success. Westbrook's longest catch went for 30 yards on Sunday and might be in store for a larger stat line against the Saints next week.

Chark is not going to keep doing what he is doing, and as his numbers come down, Westbrook's should slowly go up.  Good time to buy since he can probably be gotten cheap.

For one thing, Chark is catching all the TDs. You would think at least that part qould even out.

Dede Westbrook (shoulder) won't practice Thursday.

Westbrook wasn't listed on the injury report Wednesday, so this new shoulder injury is very concerning. Marqise Lee (ankle) is banged up as well. Westbrook is a deserving start option this week if healthy, as he carries a solid floor with at least five targets in every game this season. The entire Jaguars pass offense is set up well against a Bengals secondary expected to be without starting CBs Dre Kirkpatrick (knee) and William Jackson (shoulder) for multiple weeks.

So what's the latest with this guy?

He's been off my radar but with byes upon us, the FBG experts think I should pick him up and start him over Valdez-Scantling.

Any hope as a one-week play, or avoid?

Well, apparently, he has a shoulder injury all of a sudden. So I would monitor that. But if he's healthy, I'd start him over scantling. He's injured too.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, "early indications" are that Dede Westbrook (questionable, shoulder) will play Week 7 against the Bengals.

Westbrook will test out his injured shoulder in pre-game warmups, though the Jags are expected to have him for Sunday's 1 PM ET start in Cincy. The third-year slot man should face little resistance against the Bengals' middling secondary. Jaguars stacks will be a DFS staple this week.

Dede Westbrook (shoulder) is active for Week 7 against the Bengals.

Westbrook made it through pre-game warmups without issues. He'll fill his usual slot responsibilities with D.J. Chark and Chris Conley working outside. Cincinnati will be without two of its starting corners (William Jackson and Dre Kirkpatrick) this week, making what was already an underwhelming secondary even more vulnerable. DFS players should be trying to get as much Jaguars exposure as possible this week.

Dede Westbrook (neck, shoulder) did not practice Wednesday.

Westbrook played through his shoulder injury Week 7 when he came down with six receptions for 103 yards, so today may have been an extra day to heal up. Only time will tell, however. Westbrook needs to practice by Friday to be ready for the New York Jets on Sunday.

Dede Westbrook (shoulder) isn't expected to practice again Thursday.

Westbrook is tentatively expected to play through his shoulder injury again in Week 8, but he's clearly operating at less than 100%. Gardner Minshew has focused the overwhelming majority of his target distribution this season on Westbrook (54 targets), D.J. Chark (48), Leonard Fournette (38) and Chris Conley (33). Westbrook's 6-103-0 performance in Week 7 was a nice reminder of what the talented third-year WR is capable of producing with a good matchup, while Chark has failed to clear 60 yards or find the end zone in consecutive weeks. Chark remains the superior fantasy option thanks to his more fantasy-friendly target share as the offense's featured deep-threat WR, but the disparity between his and Westbrook's production likely won't be as big as we saw in the first month of the season moving forward.

Dede Westbrook was forced from the Jaguars' Week 8 game against the Jets with neck and shoulder issues and will not return.

Evidently banged up late in the first half, Westbrook never saw the field in the third quarter. He entered the contest genuinely questionable with a shoulder issue. It's unclear if the two ailments are related. Even with Gardner Minshew racking up 197 first half yards, Westbrook was held without a catch on one target. Clearly, his health was an issue from the opening whistle. Westbrook might get a breather for Week 9 against the Texans.

Dede Westbrook (shoulder) was limited for Wednesday's practice.

Westbrook was forced from Sunday's game against the Jets due to the shoulder injury he's battled the past two weeks. Even if he's able to suit up, expectations need to be tempered since the injury has limited him to a total 6/103 on 10 targets in Jacksonville's last two games. D.J. Chark and Chris Conley would be direct beneficiaries if Westbrook doesn't suit up on Sunday against the Texans.

Still feel like Westbrook will be the JAX WR to own down the stretch, assuming he can get healthy over the bye week.

But I'm stubborn, so take it FWIW.

Hoping to get today's practice report soon, as I'm probably starting either him or Deebo (tonight) to cover Julio's bye. Probably sitting DeDe unless he's a full go today.

Dede Westbrook (neck, shoulder) is questionable for Week 9 against the Texans.

Westbrook couldn't finish Week 8 after aggravating an existing shoulder injury, but has nonetheless been a limited participant at practice this week. His status for Sunday's game in London could go down to the wire. If he sits, it would be a huge boost to Chris Conley, who has broken out for 186 yards over his last two outings. Houston's secondary doesn't pose much of a threat, particularly in the absence of Bradley Roby (hamstring).

Dede Westbrook (shoulder) returned to practice Wednesday.

Westbrook was listed as a full participant out of Jacksonville's bye, presumably clearing him to return to the field on Sunday. With Nick Foles back under center, Westbrook projects as a confident WR3 over the second half of the season since the prized $88-million acquisition came into '19 targeting his slot players at the sixth-highest rate over the last two seasons. Westbrook's availability also moves Keelan Cole back to the bench.

Dede Westbrook (shoulder) was removed from the Week 11 injury report.

Westbrook missed Week 9 but is healthy coming off Jacksonville's bye. He should benefit from the Jaguars going back to Nick Foles, who targets the slot at a higher rate than Gardner Minshew. Westbrook is a FLEX play for a matchup with the Colts.

Nov 16, 2019, 9:56 AM ET

Dede Westbrook caught 4-of-6 targets for 32 yards in Week 11 against the Colts.

Westbrook saw fewer targets than D.J. Chark (15) and Chris Conley (8). There was hope he would be featured more with Nick Foles starting, but Foles continued to pepper Chark, who has caught all three of his touchdowns this season. The Colts are one of the better teams in the league at defending the slot, so there should be better days ahead for Westbrook. He gets a matchup with the Titans in Week 12.

Dede Westbrook (illness) wasn't listed on the Jaguars' final injury report.

Westbrook returned to a full practice on Friday. D.J. Chark's likely shadow matchup with Jackson sets up Chris Conley exceptionally well against LeShaun Sims, who has allowed 10-of-13 targets into his coverage to be caught for 115 yards and a score this season. Westbrook also doesn't need to be downgraded against Logan Ryan, who has allowed a league-high 474 receiving yards in slot coverage through 11 weeks. Foles doesn't figure to feature Chark (15 targets in Week 11) so far ahead of Conley (8) and Westbrook (6) on a weekly basis. Both complementary WRs are intriguing low-cost DFS options, but recognize that a slow-paced matchup between two run-first offenses doesn't usually result in too many shootouts.

Dede Westbrook caught 5-of-8 targets for 60 yards and one touchdown in the Jaguars' Week 13 loss to the Bucs.

He caught a three-yard touchdown for the Jaguars' lone end-zone trip of the day, and Westbrook finished it off by also catching the two-point conversion following the score. Westbrook has at least five targets in all but one game this season while this was his first score since Week 1. Westbrook is a mere low-floor WR4 headed into the Week 14 home date against the Chargers.

The Jaguars listed Dede Westbrook with the third-team offense on their Week 1 depth chart.

It seems Westbrook has completely fallen out of favor in Jacksonville, as he's listed behind D.J. Chark, Chris Conley, rookie Laviska Shenault, and Keelan Cole. Chark and Conley should open the year on the outside with Shenault in the slot. Westbrook is off the map for redraft leagues, and his Dynasty stock is at an all-time low.

Jaguars WR Dede Westbrook may have torn his ACL in Week 7 against the Chargers.

Injured on a kick return, Westbrook was carted off the field. He'll have an MRI today to confirm the injury. He was a healthy scratch for much of the season's first half, playing well behind DJ Chark, Laviska Shenault, and Keelan Cole. Westbrook has one reception for four yards on the season.
