Dedicated Dynasty Forum? (1 Viewer)

Onions

Footballguy
With the increased popularity of the dynasty FFL format, it seems like a dedicated "Dynasty" forum might be a good idea - I am just wondering it any of the FBG powers-that-be have considered this.

Seems to me it would be easier to use a seperate forum for dynasty players. As it stand now, we have to sift through non-dynasty posts just to read the threads relating to dynasty (Yes, I am familiar with the dynasty "crown" logo designating those threads).

Anyway, just a thought - I'd be curious to know what others think about this.

I know this was suggested last year, but the powers that be decided against it, for whatever reason.

I am heavily involved in Dynasty leagues, but I don't have a problem waiting through the posts to find the crown. The discussions of players for redrafts usually has some Dynasty overlap. Since, I am already checking this forum periodically each day, it is actually easier for me if the Dynasty posts stay here, rather than on a separate board.

It was decided against last year based on wanting to have the most information located in one location. That is why you see "Dynasty" leading several threads.

I agree, plus a lot of people play man different formats and in a lot of cases, you would get duplicate threads going on in different boards. I.e. the Ronnie Brown dynasty thread and the RB redraft thread. I also think that if make a separate dynasty boad, people would be calling for a spearate redraft and keeper board. Eventually it would just water-down the talent that posts here.

i prefer that the Dynasty thread are in this forum

all my info in one place instead of having to jump around

Much dynasty discussion has crossover value for redraft and keeper leagues. Though dynasty-flavored, the threads have general useful information/thought and shouldn't IMO be segregated, thereby diluting both the shark pool and the new dynasty forum. This is in contrast to the AC forum which is limited in value to the few individuals involved. I think use of the crown icon is enough to identify dynasty discussion.

I would love to see a dynasty forum; i come in the shark pool looking for the crown icon :)

Howevery, i don't think its mandatory to have one; i like the fact that there are alot of people in the sharkpool, and a dynasty thread in here can get more responses...

I agree that it could be helpful, but there will be much more info focused on dynasty/keepers as the season progresses, and many FBGs in redraft leagues fall out of contention. Not to mention the offseason.

I've been wishing for as long as I've been here. Can't tell you how many flamewars start due to two guys playing completely different formats.

Not to mention the very obvious differences in strategy.

The FBG powers-that-be  decided that dynasty players should use the crown icon on their threads. If they started seeing enough crowns littering the Shark Pool, they'd consider it.

It's been debated among the staff many times and at this point I would say there is very little chance of it happening.

Kit Fitso, not sure why the rollye eyes, but I think many of the others in this thread made the very important points that were actually the basis for the decision - consolidation of information in one place and a need to avoid having information posted in one forum and not the other. As to the SP littered with crowns, yes - if we saw a tremendous amount of strategy threads devoted to dynasty play, we'd consider a separate forum. At the end of the year, we will re-evaluate - we already have a few staffers devoted to dynasty work, and we acknowledge the significant difference in play with IPD leagues by releasing IDP rankings and an IDP forum, so it is not like FBG is opposed to catering to specialist leagues. We just need to see more than ancillary or convenience effects of a separate dynasty forum before we devote another forum that could actually create problems with information on offensive players not being reported inthe Pool.Get those crowns posted if you want a separate forum - the admins def. won't make a whole new forum based on the number of crowns I've seen so far.

The question for me would be how many players are dynasty league only. While primarily a dynasty league player at this point of my fantasy life, I still play in redrafts that I have been a part of for several years. I find especially during the season many of my player concerns are the same.

id be all over a dynasty forum.. been wanting one forver..

i do see the points against it but i think it would actually give MORE information in each forum rather than less.. most people play in dynastys and redrafts and getting good discussion on both those types of leagues would be a definite positive, rather than having half of one thread be a dynasty (2-3 year down the road view) versus a 4 month view.

Not information - NEWS.We are worried about folks posting news in the dynasty forum and not in the Pool, and vice versa, and that people who only visit one forum or the other to miss something importantAs it stands, we get almost NO news in the Pool on defensive players' injuries, but there is a TON in the IDP forum. I'd expect the same situation to occur with injuries to rookie players. I'd also expect asll the great college football information that gets posted here ot vanish and go right into the alternative dynasty forum.Anyway, those are some of the thinkgs we'll think about before deciding whether to make a new forum.

Eh, I don't think rookie injuries would be a problem as plenty of redrafters would still discuss them here.

College players I could see the posts all but disappearing for about the guys still in college during the season, but really how necessary is that for a redraft league a whole year beforehand? There will be plenty about it around the draft even in the redraft section and I think it would be easier for redrafters to guage rookie's value without all the dynasty people severely hyping them up for their future potential.
