Defensive scoring - Week 5 (1 Viewer)

Was wondering whether anyone else noticed that Sean Weatherspoon and Shaun Phillips were both credited with a forced fumble in their games, and then later the scoring was changed. Did anyone watch those games -- this sort of scoring correction doesn't seem to be very common.

Also, I was watching the Green Bay game and it looked like Matthews had at least 2.5 sacks, and was credited with only 1.5.

He lost a sack because of a penalty.

What happened on the play where McNabb lost 22 yards on a fumble? Why wasn't that a sack? (just saw the writeup, didn't see the play).

Exactly. There was a bad snap over the head of the qb, forcing McNabb to go back 15 yards to pick up the ball. Matthews then crushed him. I don't know why that wasn't a sack.I saw at least 4 sack plays involving Matthews. One was nullified by penalty, but he should be at 2.5 sacks, at least. Maybe there's a rule I'm missing.

On the play where there was a bad snap and Matthews tackled McNabb for a large loss, the scorekeepers ruled that play an "aborted play" thereby negating Matthews sack.

On plays like that scorekeepers either don't credit anyone with a tackle or simply give the player that touches the offensive player down a solo tackle.

and if the QB is in what the scorekeeper decides is a planned running play, it doesn't count as a sack -> if he's tackled behind the line (failed QB sneaks, QB keepers, etc)
