Defining the Studs (1 Viewer)

Rounders

I think that it's important now that we have 3 weeks almost in the books to identify who the STUDS are at each position. These are the guys that are the unquestioned guys at their FF position. These are the guys that hands down you don't take out of your lineup, no matter what

I believe this list has changed from the preseason and I think that it's an important list to update:

Here's my take:

QB - Manning, Palmer, & Brady

On the cusp: Romo & Kitna

Not sure: McNabb & Bulger

RB - LT, Addai, Alexander, Parker, Jackson, Gore & Westbrook

On the cusp: Jordan, Henry, M.Barber, A.Peterson, C.Portis, E.James

Not sure: LJ, Maroney, Rudi, Bush???

WR - TO, Harrison, Smith, Ocho Cinco, S.Smith, Housh & R.Moss

On the cusp: Wayne, ROY, Plaxico, Boldin, Holt

Not sure: Fitz, Driver, Walker

TE - Gates, Winslow, Shockey, Witten & Heap

On the cusp: Crumpler & Watson

Not sure: Gonzo

What I'm trying to do here is put together a list of guys at each position that you want to be on your teams, no matter what. I'm in a position in one of my leagues that I have a bunch of solid starters and I want to identify the studs that I can get for them. Package a 2 for 1 type of deal, but I want to target the elite players.

What do you got?

Parker scored once.

I think Kitna could be included in the stud QB.

roy Williams is definately a stud WR. Housh could be stud WR, borderline. He is being targeted more than Ocho Cinco and has produced minus the end zone celebrations.

Tony Gonzo not even making the cusp for tight ends?

That's the purpose of this thread, so I don't miss anyone. Thanks. Is he still a stud?

Gothca. In that case, I would add Gonzo as a stud.

What about Javon Walker? Does he belong "On the cusp" or "Not sure". Perhaps I answered my own question, but if Fitzgerald is a "Not sure", then Walker is too.

I can't think of a league out there that you would take Houshmandzadeh or Roy Williams out of your lineup - how does that just get you "on the cusp"?

I might consider taking Gore out depending on the matchup and I can't think of a situation where I would take Kitna out either...

Why is Reggie Bush in there at all? He's in a full-blown RBBC, he isn't the short-yardage back (although he may still be in the lineup), and he has only once had over 15 carries and only once scored more than 1 TD in a game in his 2 years in the league. I can think of about 20 RBs that I would rather have in my lineup over Bush... which definetly takes him off the list of "guys that hands down you don't take out of your lineup, no matter what "

At this point it's just hype until (1) McCalister isn't playing on the same team and/or (2) NO offense gets together.

I would say Jackson is on the cusp as opposed to Not Sure since he's getting a crazy number of carries even when the team is behind (as evidenced today) and as long as Bulger doesn't throw interceptions on every red-zone appearence, he'll start scoring TDs (*disclaimer - I'm a Jackson owner...).

the list i wrote above is my current top 4 right now after 3 weeks. I tihnk these guys have been mosters and deserve the recognition. However, this is not to say that there aren't any other studs out there. Obviously, LT, Gore, SJax and LJ and willie parker are studs, but just not in my current ranks. also guys like holt and marvin and wayne, etc....

Willie is outscoring Henry... as is Alexander, MB3, Adrian Peterson, Edge, and even Ronnie Brown with his monster game. Willie has been more consistent than Henry, and has improved each week in yardage where Henry is going down.I'm not sure how you can put Henry in that list and not include Willie.

Uh, the whole point of this thread are the guys who are considered fantasy studs and that you don't take out of your lineup regardless. Honestly, I would NOT yet put Jordan in that list. He's done very well so far for me and countless others, but I don't yet consider him a must start. Henry is probably a close start, but again I just can't see putting him ahead of Willie and maybe one or two of those other guys on the list.

The studification of players definitely needs to be tiered... so i like the "on the cusp"/"not sure" format.
