Delanie Walker to the Titans is big (1 Viewer)

Just when I'm out, he pulls me back in...Taylor Thompson now has 8 catches for 89 yards in two preseason games, including 5 catches tonight.

Taylor Thompson: Taylor Thompson enjoying terrific preseason

Taylor Thompson - TE - TEN - Aug. 15 - 11:02 pm et

Titans TE Taylor Thompson secured 5-of-5 targets for 56 yards in Friday night's second preseason game.

Continuing to build on his promising August, the converted defensive end now has eight grabs for 89 yards through two exhibition affairs. Thompson is a significantly better athlete than Delanie Walker and Craig Stevens. If Thompson keeps this up, the Titans will have to find ways to get him on the field. Aug. 15 - 11:02 pm et

What are the odds that Walker is startable the rest of the way?

I don't think the Titans have had a consistent TE since Wycheck, and even his best fantasy season would be merely "average" in 2014.

Walker has to be the most sell-high player in fantasy right now.
He doesn't look like it. People were thinking Dex/Woodhead & Allen/Hunter and instead the correct answer may have been Walker/Gates.
What do you mean? Please explain.

Dude is beasting right now. On top of his week 1 TD, and his monster game with another TD in week 2, he nearly had a second TD last week (and 3rd of the year) on an insane diving catch in traffic, in the endzone where he only got one foot down.

Even though it didn't count in the box score or our lineups, his QB, his OC, and his head coach saw the sick athleticism and skill it took to make that catch in the end zone, in traffic, at a crucial time in the game. He should continue to get red zone looks after that combined with the way he's been playing.

If you think Walker's production is tied to Locker, and that Locker is a constant injury risk, then I can see why you'd think that Walker is a sell-high candidate. But Walker isn't some scrub who's benefitting from a ton of junk targets. He's a talented athlete.

I think he's always had talent but was stuck behind Vern in SF, he's playing great now, and Wiz coming to TEN encouraged owners to see how the SD gameplan might play out in TEN. There was talk about McCluster as a sleeper and Hunter having a breakout session, but I don't recall much talk about Walker. SD was no. 4 FF points scored by TEs last year. I'm saying don't sell high because he will keep doing it, it's part of the system and not a 2 game fluke.

Thanks for the explanation, I didn't get the SD reference at first.

Anyway, I'm starting him out of sheer desperation, and I feel like I'm chasing points. Hope he proves me wrong.

Walker - trending up or down with Mettenberger at QB?
Benching Walker this week. The uncertainty of not knowing if Mett is going to be checking down or airing it out has me nervous. Houston gets Clowney back for 3rd down passes. This is not the defense to do experiments with. Of course it depends on your options.

Titans placed Stevens on IR. They don't have their awesome blocking TE to help either the rook or Oher. Walker might have to stay in more than some want, including Whisenhunt who seems to think he's Gates.

I'd still start Walker in FF, but I'd be nervous some. Too much of the passing offense goes through him to bench in FF IMO

Is this guy going to make it back for Monday night?

Wed, Nov 12

Delanie Walker (concussion) isn't practicing Wednesday.

Advice: Walker was knocked out in the second quarter of Week 10 on a hit by Ravens S Terrence Brooks. He lay motionless on the field before eventually being carted to the locker room. Walker appears extremely doubtful for Week 11.

It looked bad. So many other players have sat for a week for concussions and it didn't look like this.

He didn't move and players from both teams were on one knee

Rotoworld:

Titans TE Delanie Walker (concussion) participated in practice on Saturday and is listed as questionable for Monday night against the Steelers.

Walker was limited, but it is a step in the right direction after not practicing on Thursday and Friday. He still needs to be cleared by an independent neurologist in order to play. With the Titans not playing until Monday night, this will be a situation to avoid.

Delanie Walker - TE - Titans

Delanie Walker has passed his final concussion tests and has been cleared to play Week 12 against the Eagles.

Walker is listed as probable. He will be a low-end TE1 against an Eagles' defense that has been tough against tight ends this season.

Rotoworld:

Delanie Walker caught five passes for 155 yards in Sunday's Week 12 loss at Philadelphia.

After missing Week 11 due to a concussion, Walker came out fresh and strong. He ripped off a career-long 68-yard gain in the first half, out-classing the Eagles' terrible safeties in terms of both speed and power. It's Walker's second 100-yard game of the season, but first time he's been over 60 yards since Week 4. He'll be a low-end TE1 again when the Titans travel to Houston in Week 13 -- he'll be needed in-line to help block J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney.

"out-classing the Eagles' terrible safeties."

He was covered (badly) by a linebacker on that play. And the Eagles have one terrible safety, Jenkins has been good this year.

WHo will be QB this week?

Hou is in the top 5 D vs TE this year (according to yahoo) with only 2 double digit TE games against them all year

Giants are in the top half of the league for good TE match ups

I expect him to bounce back this week. Houston was a bad TE matchup.
Oher is supposed to be back, well no I mean it's possible. He was active last week and felt something after the designation.

He's practiced on a limited basis this week.

Lewan should sit another week but even 2 weeks for a high ankle sprain when your job involves pushing off seems unlikely.

TE Richard Gordon was cut to bump up a PS LBer (injuries there too) and he showed his speed and is likely to play again. Hunter went to IR so I thought Gordon would re-sign, but they added a huge project tackle that's been with the Redskins and Ravens. 6-7 341 he ought to be able to get in the way.

The Giants don't have JJ Watt, obviously. I expected last week for Battle and/or Leon to be in and Sankey fans to be annoyed. Instead I'm annoyed Sankey was in and went for a screen he didn't get more often than he helped block. Battle has been outstanding at blocking and picking up the blitz, he should be in so Walker can do what he did the week before-a hit on the DE then go out for a pass.

Coffman has bounced around the NFL. Can't he block OK? I don't think I ever noticed him which is probably a good thing with blocks. I wouldn't mind a 2 TE set with Walker running routes.

I think Wright plays. They will be small. Walker needs to get out there. I don't want Hagan as an option really-I want Walker. Beckham is going to destroy their secondary. Thankfully Ghee was cut and they promoted two DBs, but they still stink other than Griffin. They gotta get some points and Walker is the only way I can imagine.

Without Walker, Wright could have some ridiculous #s but short quick guy in the redzone isn't usually effective.

Given Tennessee's massive WR issues I don't know how they don't plan to get Walker double-digit touches this week. It sure would seem to make a ton of sense.
How? They might make Walker stay in and block because they have injuries at every OL position except one, LG LeVitre who is playing terribly this year. An extra blocker might help keep Mett upright, if Mett even plays this week (shoulder).

With the WR and OL injuries, Walker's usage is being pulled in two different directions. Boom/bust, imo.

After last week, I'll be upset if Battle doesn't play a significant amount.

I like the FB picking up one of the DL that easily get past any of the 5, better than TE helping with a single DE. Plus I swear every LB or S that blitzed, got to Mett last week.

Lewan is supposedly a possible start and play thru injury. It seems like he needs another week but is getting insistent upon playing. I love that he's upset he wasn't there to protect Mett and the Watt hit hurt his pride. I'm not sure how ya handle that but do figure it's important for them to handle a prized rookie tackle however the right way is.

I am all for the just signed 6-7 340lb guy that doesn't know the offense to play every passing down. That's massive. Fit him in somewhere and make it work coach.

Hmm. I didn't watch the game, was Walker in to block more instead of running routes?

Just wondering if his role has changed due to other personnel shifts. The Jets are a good TE matchup, but I'm just wondering why he hasn't been getting receiving work lately.

I'd like to know this myself. He did have 10 targets however.

I can't say I saw the last game but I do like the 10 targets no matter what and if Wright is out, I see him getting even more looks playing against a soft NYJ pass defense.

I'm playing him over Donnell vs. Washington but I'm not entirely confident in that. I know Donnell lit up Washington last time but you have to figure they will focus on shutting him down this time around.

Am debating him vs Kielce. Wanna pickup Giants defense and only reasonable drop is him for me as all my potential opponents have top 4 tight ends so won't harm me

Have been playing the waiver wire for tight ends just about all year, after drafting Cameron.

Right now I have Jordan Reed - but am ready to cut ties with him. Walker and Cameron are on my wire, as well as Raider TE Rivera....thinking that chasing points is not the way to go. Torn between Cameron and Walker. I was leaning Cameron, as I am thinking a rookie QB might look to the tight end on short to intermediate routes fairly often....however, I saw the targets Walker got last week and am giving some thoughts to picking him up.

Does Walker have a good track record with Locker?

Delanie broke Titans record for receiving yards by a TE. I can think of quite a few that were good so....bright spot in a dark year

He was cut in my league. Just cut outright. 12 team compeitive league. Jordan Reed was cut as well. Most guys must not have been paying attention because I snagged both to back up Jimmy Graham. Now I'm having a hard time deciding who to cut between Walker, Reed, and Dwayne Allen.
