Delhomme overvalued? (1 Viewer)

I don't see anywhere else to respond to the features so I'll do it here. In the "Overvalued Players - Week 2" column, Jeff Tefertiller lists Delhomme as overvalued because "Delhomme played well in week one, spreading the ball around against a stout San Diego defense. This week, the Panthers face the Chicago Bears. The Bears completely shut down Peyton Manning and the Colts in week one. In addition, Delhomme gets Steve Smith back in week three so there is reason for optimism in 2008, just maybe not this week" ???? :ptts: Huh? Let's see....he goes on the road and kicks butt vs a team that could have made it to the Super Bowl last year had they remained healthy. Now they are back on their home turf, but they are playing a team that completely shut down......what, a completely out of synch Colts team whose QB got virtually no reps in preseason and looked totally bewildered? So Jake's going to suck this week? I think it's much more likely that Chicago's play was the anomaly, not Delhomme and the Panthers who were 2-1 last year and averaging 24 pts per game before Delhomme got injured.

He completed something like 55% of his passes with 6 yards/attempt. Nothing to get excited about. He's not going to throw 40 passes every week.

Nobody's getting excited. Just wondering why he would be considered over-valued. It seems like the reason was because he was facing Chicago this week. I didn't hear anyone raving about their defense in the pre-season, but now because they shut down one team that wasn't quite ready to start the season they are better than the Chargers?

If anything is overvalued it's the Bears. I mean come on! The Colts Def sucks, and Manning was out of game shape...Plus no Saturday. I wasn't surprised the Bears won. If they play each other again in week 10 the Colt would kill em. It'll be a different game this week for the Bears.

The Panthers Def looks legit. They held LT2 in check for god's sake. How much better do you think Kyle Orton will do against Peppers and the crew. I think the Bears can frustrate the Panthers run game, which will force Delhomme to throw. He won't be world class, but he should still put up respectable numbers.

Delhomme is Delhomme. He will occasionally throw a bonehead INT now and again. He's a gunslinger...he takes his chances. Sometimes he lives, sometimes he dies.

Let's not underestimate the confidence that that last second win against the Chargers will give to Delhomme.
