Delhomme Owners... (1 Viewer)

His schedule the next 6 weeks:

@ ATL

v TB

@ NO

@ AZ

BYE

v IND

He seems to have taken very well to Carolina's new offense the first two weeks, Smith is playing on another level if that's even possible, but Jake is and always has been as streaky as they come. Do you hold and hang on for the ride or sell while his value is sky high for someone like a Rivers or Leinart, who should (could?) bounce back from their slow starts?

I'm keeping Jake - his schedule this year is great, I'm expecting close to 30 passing TDs from him, and expect he'll finish top 5-8 top fantasy QBs.

Hold until his bye, then try and move him. After the bye his schedule isn't very attractive, especially the homestretch of the fantasy playoffs. Could be highly overvalued by week 7, great time to sell high.

i know what you are saying, but if i traded delhomme it would be for some one who has done something in the NFL.

I guess I picked those guys thinking more in keeper/dynasty terms, but Rivers was a top 10 QB last year and has a multitude of weapons obviously. I think they're offense will get back in synch and Rivers went about 6-8 rounds earlier than Delhomme in drafts. Anyone ranked higher than that you probably couldn't get for a Delhomme, despite how good he's been so far.

As long as you've got Steve Smith to throw to, any day against any team can be a huge day.

What's that worth to you? That's the question you'd have to answer in trying to figure out what you'd be willing to trade him for.

The other problem with Delhomme's perceived value has been that some people still have the "threat" of David Carr in the back of their minds, which I don't understand at all, especially when seeing what Schaub has done with Houston so far.

Jake is looking like the Jake of old..you may want to keep him. Plus Steve Smith can take a quick slant to the house on any given play.

The Panthers running game it not looking that good either..this is all in Jakes favor.

I have Carson Palmer and Delhomme . . . after yesterday I'm seriously considering trying to move Palmer for a top 3 WR but I have cold feet for obvious reasons.

I couldn't agree with this more. Here's a guy on a team with a very favorable schedule, an elite WR1 to throw to and an offense that hasn't proven that it can exactly run all over anyone in for a few years now. That should = $$ for Jake.Anyone who was sweating him because of Carr didn't do their homework. You don't bench a guy who's done what Jake's done in the playoffs(let alone regular season), and has taken a team to a SB, for David friggin' Carr. Not unless we're talking total implosion. I don't see that happening.

My experience is that unless you're trading Manning, Palmer or Brady it's tough to get fair value for QBs. Even in large leagues everyone has at least one decent QB option. You're better off keeping him.

Trade your starter and pick up David Carr in case Delhomme gets hurt?

I'm not sure about Carr but throwing to Steve Smith makes the job easier than on a lot of teams.

If you believe in Delhomme why not trade your starting QB and get something even better in return?
I'm one of those guys who waits on draft day for my QB, so Jake is my #1. Alex Smith is my #2 and Losman was my #3, but had to cut bait on him for at least a few more weeks.Would love to get an every-week QB somehow, but it's unlikely I'll find one, my league is in love with QBs (7 gone in first 36 picks) and they rarely trade.

I don't think so..my starting QB is P.Manning...Jake is my backup.
So? You telling me you cant get more for PManning than Delhomme?
Do you honestly think that is what he is telling you?
Then why mention it in his reply to me? I said if you really believe in Delhomme then trade your starting QB and get more in return. The same would hold true for PManning owners so I dont get his point.

Jake Delhomme is possibly the most underrated QB in the entire NFL. This whole David Carr may take over talk was coming from people who have never seriously watched a game of football in their entire lives. David Carr is a mess. Delhomme is a solid QB and one of the best in the NFC.

And for fantasy, obviously Steve Smith is gonna get his in the majority of games. And now Carolina has options at WR#2 that are actually going to be productive. Carter has shown his redzone ability. Colbert should be improved. And Jarrett can come in at any point this year and start putting up stats. Not even to mention that Carolina is actually passing to the TE in who knows how many years. I think Delhomme is in line to be a borderline top10 QB this season and you could do much worse for a backup on your team. Hell, is it against the law to carry TWO good QBs on your team in case of injury or to play schedules?

How many QBs that started in game 2 last year, weren't starting in week 11?

I own Delhomme in two out of three leagues and have been thinking about what to do with him today. The biggest problem with Delhomme as your QB is how closely his success is tied to Steve Smith. An injury to Steve Smith completely changes his value as well as how teams will defend the Carolina Panthers. A guy like Manning can afford to lose either Wayne or Harrison for a few games and most likely things will not change too much.

I'd say move him if you can package him to upgrade to someone like Manning, Brady, Palmer (or anyone else with multiple weapons that can weather one or possibly two injuries). Otherwise ride it out and enjoy his schedule.

Palmer for a top 3WR?? Unless you start 2QB, then good luck - especially considering how well WRs are doing right now. Palmer for Driver or Evans would be more like it.... WR10-14 range at best IMO.

Maybe you're right but Palmer's value is very high right now IMO. Plus my league is 6pts for all TDs and NO ppr so I would hope I could do better than WR10-14. In any case, back to the thread topic, I'm liking Delhomme a lot but I'm pretty sure I will hang on to him as my QB2 for BYE week and the event of a Palmer injury.
