Demarco Murray (1 Viewer)

Murray was 10-32 rushing and 1-7 receiving today. What am I missing that makes him so great?
Until I saw this post I had no idea his numbers were so pedestrian. He looked good on several runs. I'd expect better against the weak Pats D though.
One of the many reasons why pure numbers aren't a good indicator of talent.
Looks like he was 2 for -3 on the next to last drive when they were just trying to run the clock out. That would explain why his final numbers didn't match up with what I saw on the field.
:goodposting:

I saw something special in this kid and thought we would hear more of him.

Last year Felix Jones only had one touchdown on 168 carries so one carry for a 91 yard TD is a nice first start.

I just hope the Boys know what they have and elevate him to the starting role even when Felix comes back.

Hopefully JJ feels the same way but he still loves Felix.

Making me feel really good about trading Jacoby Ford for him this week. Hoped to have him as a few week fill in for Jones and Best being injured. He may take this job over if he keeps this up though.

Take away the big TD and he has 9 carries for 21 yards. We need to temper expectations going forward just a bit.

I used to use this theory with Barry Sanders until I decided its a bad way to go about valuing players
Since we are clearly dealing with the next Barry Sanders.
20 carries, 187 yards and a TD.
Samkon Gado had some big games too. Just saying.

Take away the 91 yard td run, and he only has 94 yards on 19 carries.
I'm stoked about his performance but we can't assume he will be the starter when Jones returns. If anything, Jones and Murray will cancel out each other in potential value.

First start and he's already set the ALL-TIME Cowboy rookie RB record and he's only three yards from the Cowboy ALL-TIME GAME RECORD.

Not a bad first start.

No updates on his status on tv at least...but tanner took over after Murray's long run. Geez..that would suck.

You're insane. Felix has had years to do something. Dallas has has NO run game for years. Now Murray who they loved and said they "stole" in the draft has 230+ with 8 minutes to go? It's Murray's job. Hope you guys were smart and picked him up already.

Friend is watching the game, said he was walking just fine on the sidelines, not being looked at by trainers.. I think they just said good job and we're not going to risk hurting you.

I hope you are right but Felix Jones isn't going away and we know Jerry Jones likes him. As high as Murray's ceiling can be this year, Felix Jones coming back is going to lower it. Hopefully Felix becomes the 3rd down back. And lets not forget the Rams have the worst run D in the league.

Yeah, he looks fine on the sideline. I guess by choice getting hurt, they may be making sure he stays healthy. Hope so, he has done his job today. He was actually on pace for breaking the nfl single game rushing record, believe it or not.

Or they are going to let him try for it!

Amazing. I bet Felix's ankle problem will linger...

So is Murray a RB1 going forward?

Is this a mirage? STL doesn't have the greatest run defense either.

Why was Murray so terrible at Oklahoma?
Are you on crack? He holds multiple OU records. All time leader in Touchdowns. What the hell did you take a puff of before you posted this?

In what way was he "terrible"?From wikipedia:
College careerMurray redshirted the 2006 NCAA football season. In his first game for the Oklahoma Sooners on September 1, 2007 vs. University of North Texas, Murray rushed for 201 yards and five touchdowns, becoming the first player to score four touchdowns in a half in his Sooner debut.[2] On September 15, 2007 against Utah State, Murray entered the Oklahoma football record book when he had a TD run of 92 yards, which is the third longest in Oklahoma football history.[citation needed]Murray tied Adrian Peterson's freshman touchdown record in 2007 with 15.Murray logged a 4.42 (team best) 40 time[3] and a 36.5-inch vertical jump[3] during the 2007 winter testing. On October 16, 2010 Murray passed Steve Owens as the all-time touchdown leader at the University of Oklahoma with 58 touchdowns.Career Records at University of Oklahoma All-Time Leader in Points Scored (390) All-Time Leader in Touchdowns (65) All-Time Leader in All Purpose Yards (6,718) All-Time Leader in Receiving Yards for a Running Back (1,571)[edit] Statisticssource: espn.comYEAR ATT YDS AVG LNG TD REC YDS AVG LNG TD FUM LST 2007 127 764 6.0 92 13 14 60 4.3 25 0 0 02008 179 1002 5.6 70 14 31 395 12.7 34 4 0 02009 171 705 4.1 38 8 41 522 12.7 67 4 0 02010 282 1214 4.3 63 15 71 594 8.6 76 5 0 0

Yeah, he was great at OU. Not AP great, but who else is?
Two different styles or RBs.AP = Bruiser like Jim Brown

Demarco = All purprose like Marshall Faulk
