Denarius Moore going forward (1 Viewer)

Yeah i get the qb thing but i'm in the tyler wilson fan club so i think moore will be fine 2014+

Coming off a down year, Moore is still the same incredible athlete that has been able to get by simply by being so much faster than everyone else along with some pretty impressive leaping ability to pull in balls. The routes in his rookie year were very straight forward, use your speed to get deep or cut underneath for some YAC.

Last year’s failed OC Greg Knapp’s system was more complex and required a lot more reads and options for the WRs. Moore was lined up often being in the wrong place, as evidenced by the intense sideline “conversations” that Palmer had with him when he threw the ball where Moore was not. About midseason it looked like he was working a lot more on the routes and the reads. But in the process he forgot how to catch the ball. That indicates a lack of concentration on the catch because he was more concerned with the reads.

New OC, Greg Olson is more of a WCO guy too, which could mean a more read biased route system. That caters more to big bodied precise route runners like Streater, Criner or even Vernon could surprise. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of routes and reads he uses for Moore and how well he blends into the new system.

Olson has already said he’s going to make the offensive a hybrid that would adapt to the strengths of his skill players. The hope is that he tinkers with Moore’s route tree to put him in his most comfortable routes and reads so that he can get back to trusting his innate instincts and haul in the improbable leaping catches again.
