the press is already throwing out Wallace, Stokley, and Clark as possibilities. Others are saying Stewart.

Any others??

I know Stokley is one of Manning's best friends, and Manning has always said he's one of the best slot receivers he ever played with, BUT...

*** He's 36 years old (or will be when the season begins)

*** Is 8 years removed from his ONLY meaningful season (the 1,077 yard year in 2004)

*** Struggled to make a consistent mark in his last stint in Denver (which ended in 2009)

*** Caught 1 pass for 7 yards last year, and 31 for 354 (and no scores) in 2010

If Stokley signs, I bet it's just as a camp body and a hope that he has enough left to win the final WR spot as a veteran presence.

You would think Clark has a chance of signing, and it probably explains why he's been so quiet so far even making visits. I'm not sure Clark has any type of elite productivity left in him, but when you see the likes of Kevin Boss (3 years, $9mm) and Martellus Bennett ($2.5mm from Giants) getting deals quickly and slotting into important projected roles, you have to think Clark can help the Broncos out.

I am a Thomas owner however think Decker could be huge with Manning. He is a tough-nosed possession receiver with enough speed to get behind coverage.

Adding Addai and Clark makes sense. Is McGahee signed through this season? Maybe with the Tolbert signing Fox will eye J.Stewart in a trade?

per Mike Klis, Broncos beat writer (who's been pretty much spot-on on recent Manning news IMO):

Expect the Broncos to sign TE Dallas Clark

I know I am going to get laughed at (Heck, i am laughing at myself as I type), but

What about a resurgence for Knowshon Moreno?

I can imagine him being very effective, ala Addai catching from the backfield, running a little bit.

McGahee can do all that stuff too. As can Jonathon Stewart.

The giants brought Stokley in last year and saw the field immediately before injuring his quad and being cut.

He drew a big pass interference call that helped the giants win a game... I hope he gets a ring! :football:

I think he signs w/ DEN.

Decker is the big winner here. Tebow couldn't hit a WR in stride, so Decker's ability to get open was moot.

Decker was consistently open deep, and simply missed. If Manning can throw a healhty ball for 2 years, Decker has Jordy Nelson like potential during that span.

I see no need for Denver to add a big name WR.

Why would Denver want to bring in someone like Addai? He was always a guy that fit well enough into the Colts offense, because he wasn't needed to be a centerpiece. But you have to think there are droves of better alternatives at the RB position -- either in FA or more likely the draft -- than to saddle Manning with Joey A again.

Addai wouldn't be a centerpiece for Denver either.

I think that Addai would be better than "Joe RB" as far as knowing what Manning wants in the passing game i.e. protections, etc.

Hmmmm. Denver makes the huge splash bringing in Manning for $96 mill, a guy who has had 4 neck surgeries in the last year. Then they bring in all of Manning's pals for tryouts or signings to make Peyton happy. Meanwhile they're bringing in guys like Caleb Hanie as potential backups to Peyton.

I'm sure this is going to end well......Dream Team 2. :hophead:

Gotta think he would merely be McGahee's backup, and he'd probably be an upgrade over Knowshow

Caldwell (WR) has been added - I guess Stokley won't be signing after all.
Does that mean he will be pushed into the slot role again? In Cincy, I never understood him there. He's a great blocker for a WR and he can make great catches, but his weaknesses were always route running, mediocre speed, and easy drops. On the surface, it always seemed like he was the opposite of a slot guy and belonged outside even if was as a backup.

Dreesen was signed this morning - is he a legit TE1??
i think so
It's up to Peyton but I think he can be a #1. The dude can do a little bit of everything. Good hands. Runs good routes. Solid red zone target. Quality blocker. Good on special teams. Can even be the teams long snapper. He led the Texans in TD catches, in a back up role. Guy works hard, as evidenced when he was out of football for a whole year before he got his chance with the Texans. I would not have minded if the Texans cut Owen Daniels to keep Dreessen at a cheaper contract. Not saying I think Dreessen is a better player than OD, but I think he could put up similar stats for a much cheaper price (especially since Houston has cap issues). Peyton can give him some good stats if he so chooses. Good signing for the Broncos, in my opinion. This Texans fan will miss Joel 'Salad' Dreessen.

thanks for a great post. Its posts like these that make the Pool worth visiting!

Thank you sir. I'm just glad I can contribute. Here's a link to a video made by a big Joel Dreessen fan. It contains some of his TD highlights.

Tamme is now in the fold - so much for Clark tagging along.
I honeslty think that's going to be about it for Denver's offensive skill position additions (at least until the draft). I'm not sure on their cap space, but between eating part of the Tebow money, the Manning hit, and now the 2 TEs & Caldwell, they have to be reaching the tipping point on what they have allotted for offensive skill positions. They also spent some money on their DB situation. I think the Broncos, for the most part, are done adding much FA talent. But again, just mho.
