And I just want to say ... Plummer didn't play a great game, with 2 pretty bad INTs. But we better not have Denver fans placing this game 100% on him.He also never gave up and that last TD drive really showed me something. Give Jake several more years as Broncos' QB.

Congratulations to Steelers fans.

You guys got us good this time.
Same here. Good luck in the Super Bowl. :) The Broncos went farther than I thought they would this year and while this is a disappointing end to the season, this is a team on the way up and with just another piece or two to the puzzle, I think they will be ready to win a championship.

As for weather, I seem to remember Atlanta being encased in Ice for the SB a few years ago. It was 40 degrees and sunny in Detroit today.

BTW, is there a reason the NFL continues to have Super Bowls in Detroit?
Ford is a BIG NFL sponsor. That's why.
And Ford Field is one of the nicest venues in the league.
But they were having em in the Silverdome.
They only had ONE in the Silverdome.
Don't care its Detroit. Anheuser Busch must not have bought a SB for St Louis. Hell, we could have the thing over at E St Louis High - still be better'n Detroit.

The one thing that's getting overlooked in this whole thing is that Cowher is doing some of the best coaching he's ever done. He outcoached Belichek, but he's doing an all-star level performance today against Skeletor. Shanahan continues to send Plummer into 7 step drops and he's getting killed.

Excellent job today by Cowher.
When did he outcoach Belichek? Didn't they only play once this year?

you know it's gonna be 20 for the game though. That's our luck.

I'm pretty sure we've done this before, but you have no idea what you are talking about.

I totally agree. Anyone who blames this loss on Plummer is an idiot and is ignoring the putrid performance by the defense in the first half. Down 24-3 at the half, you are put in a position of playing from behind and against a defense like Pittsburgh's, it is almost impossible to not make a mistake or two. Denver is set at QB. That much is obvious.

Congratulations to Steelers fans.

You guys got us good this time. I'm rooting for you in the Super Bowl, so bring it home!
They'd be bringing it to Pittsburgh. You realize this right?
Yeah. I went to college in Pittsburgh, always rooted for the Steelers when it didn't affect the Broncos. Cawhr Pawhr!

Just wanted to chime in---great job Steelers!!!I wish the Broncos could have done a better job, but Pitt was wonderful and you guys deserve it!!I just want to echo an earlier post--Jake had a bad game and that is all he will hear about, but he had a GREAT season and should not be judged by it.I actually have a Terrible Towel and will be waiving it 2 weeks from now.

:lmao: Dudn't matter. Its Detroit. I just dont get the rotation. Several warm cities, lots of stuff to travel for........and Detroit.BTW brother, I really don't give a hoot. Didnt expect anyone to actually defend Detroit. :hophead:

Oh well Bronco fans. :kicksrock: Congrats on a great year. No need to panic in the offseason, just a couple pieces away from being the best, and that's a lot better than most can say.Big giant  to the Steelers. :excited: Good luck in the big dance. This will be first, and it might hurt a little but... :towelwave:

As a Bronco fan, not the way I expected it to go. Great job on 3rd down conversions by the Steelers today. Whether it was 3rd and 3 or 3rd and 9 they always had the right play called and executed.Best of Luck in Detroit.

Congrats to the Steelers. Denver was both outplayed and outcoached today. I don't think there's any doubt that Pittsburgh is the best team in football right now from top to bottom, and I'd be very surprised to see them lose in the Super Bowl no matter who they play.I agree with the sentiment above about Plummer. While he played a pretty bad game, I think he got his feet wet enough to know what it takes in games of this caliber. Some of the plays that he made down the stretch were truly amazing.

My hat is off to the Denver fans in this thread - no whining, no excuses, all class. To Ghost Rider, with whom I have had a number of gentlemanly disagreements : this is the reason why I will always debate football with you. In addition to bringing good knowledge and analysis to the table, you're never a crybaby and you're a class act. :thumbup:This one really feels good given the Bettis situation, and I am so happy for coach Cowher - exorcised some demons today. I have been saying for years that the reason he's has a subpar record in conference title games is the QB play, this year seems to bear that out. First team ever to go through the conference's top 3 seeds on the road, and Cowher, Whisenhunt, LeBeau and crew deserve a huge amount of credit for their gameplans each week. They've been brilliant in taking what the defense gives them and confusing the opposition on both sides of the ball. Of all the great years Cowher has had as a coach, this has to be his best, regardless of the outcome 2 weeks from now. That said, I think this is the year. Ben is ready and we're going to break this 26-year drought. Cowher's got the "can't win the big game" rep in the ground already, now it's time to shovel some dirt on that. :towelwave:

:goodposting: I have a ton of respect for Denver-- just wasn't their day..

GO STEELERS!!

Where is my towel again?? :kicksrock: Great game today steelers. Gonna be mighty tough to beat that in Detroit. I'm back on the bandwagon for 2 more weeks. Best of luck....

The Bus is going out in style, Roethlisberger's finally getting people to realize he's far more than a "game manager," and Cowher now is 11-9 in the postseason and favored to get the Super Bowl monkey off his back.Couldn't be more excited!!!! :towelwave:

My first half thoughts:

1. Ben Roethlisberger looked terrible in the first half. He threw 3 INTS. NONE were caught.

a. Bailey whiffs on the pick on the first drive, it pops in the air and is caught for a 1st down.

b. Ben threw an INT in the end zone on another drive that was dropped by the CB.

c. Ben threw one right in the hands of a Bronco to end the half - the defender simply whiffs - it goes right thru his hands and lands in the hands of a Steeler for a TD.

The Steelers also could NOT run the football at all. But with the dropped interceptions and constantly 3rd down conversions, the Steelers take a huge lead.

If I'm the Broncos, I change nothing in the second half. I trust that

a. The Steelers can't run the football

b. Ben will continue to make poor throws

I also wouldn't give up on my gameplan yet. Keep the pressure on Roethlisberger. Run the ball, get a TD, cut this to 24-10. Hopefully your secondary has better hands in the last 30 minutes.
You either have no clue about football or you are on a major :fishing: trip.

Part of the reason it was 24-3 at the half was because of Plummers poor decision making. You could read the lips of the coordinator on the sideline imploring Jake to "go through your reads!". I've always liked Plummer and would be the first to stick up for him,but in the first half he was awful.

Congrats to all Steeler fans. That was a dominating peformance. Big Ben is a stud. I look forward to many epic battles between Brady and Ben in the upcoming seasons. The AFC is going to be really fun with Big Ben, Brady, Manning and if Palmer can come back.Good luck in the Bowl.

gotta love our chances strong on all 3 phases of the gametotal confidence in the coachesaccurate kicker strong punter!DETROIT!:towelwave:edit :banned:

How did this team beat the Patriots?
Brady was bothered by pressure and missed a lot of throws. Ben isn't and hasn't.
Brady definitely missed some throws but "and I'm trying to be a good teammate here" there is a bit of a difference in how the banged up (3rd stringer playing left tackle) Patriots line got overrun by the Denver blitz and how the Steelers veteran line kept the Denver blitz scheme off of Rothliesberger. Big Ben is playing great but he hasnt taken nearly the amount of hits that Brady took. That being said? How the hell did Denver beat the Pats? (answer Big Ben and his offensive lne has played much better than Tom Brady and his offensive line)

Congrats to Steelers - Very strong performance! Now, I will bet the house on the Steelers over Seattle. The NFL has given me another gift line (AFC -3 over the NFC) . The Steelers are the lock of the century. I pray it's only -3.

I think this yr's playoffs have proven that there is no such thing as a lock pick. But I hope you're right. :towelwave:

Cowher outcoached Belichick? When, earlier in the year when Pitt LOST to the Patriots? Shanahan outcoached Belichick last week and now Cowher is taking it to Shanahan. If Cowher actually WINS the SB he is likely to become a Hall of Fame coach. If he never wins one, no matter his success, I dont think he would get in.

LOL, Cowher's not doing better coaching now than he ever has. He's taken a lot of chances in the playoffs over the years, but always had to tailor his gameplans to his personnel. He just has a QB capable of playing well in a big game when the defense takes away the running game.

:goodposting: Cowher needs to win a SB. This is his year. Good for him. Seriously.

I AGREE 110%. Bill cowher didn't just figure it out this year and people that cite his AFCCG record are dopes in my opinion.Oh yeah, WE DEY! (I love sticking it to Bungle fans whenever I can.)
