Better to be out now before the temptation comes around of having to sign him to another contract though. It's hard enough being a Steelers fan the past few years. Pickens made that ten times worse with his constant antics.

GP was never going to play as a Steeler again without his own lucrative extension, so trading him was the only other option to avoid the upcoming drama.

I am not a GP fan, but this is a terrible move. He would have brought a 3rd round pic by letting him walk. If you wanted to trade him, they desperately needed to add a WR in the draft. They are back to likely the worst WR room in the league.

His talent makes him worth a 2nd. His maturity makes that worth a 4th. I’ll take the 3rd and the 5th-6th swap as a Steelers fan. Without an extension, GP would have been a hold out/in and given his 1/2 effort on more plays than usual when he did see the field.

Why do they have to add another contact? They aren't winning the SB or possible not making the playoffs.. I would be ok riding with DK, Austin, Wilson.. Allen would be a waste to win a few more game and get a lower pick.

That's what I'd figure. I mean, if they didn't sign DK to a huge contract I'd let myself believe between passing on Shedeur (and other QBs) and now trading GP they were embracing the tank. But it seems they are still trying to win this year, so I can't see them comfortable heading into the year with that WR group. If they are still trying to court Rodgers, I can't imagine he'll love it either. Bad line, and now bad WR group as well?

I'm sad to see George go. He has the talent to be a great WR, but just wasn't able to put it all together. I think Khan made this move for 2 reasons. 1. To pull the comp pick a year earlier so they can use it to draft a QB in 2026. 2. They want to overhaul the team character as quickly as possible.
The moves made over the last few drafts, especially the most recent one, have emphasized character and a love of football. Harmon, Johnson, Sawyer, Howard, etc. They all love football and from the outside appear not to be extremely selfish. It feels like the era of Martavis/AB/Diontae/Pickens/Pickett is over.

Great trade for Pittsburgh! Best case would have been a compensatory 3rd round pick in 2027 dependent upon some team giving him a big contract and production. BIG IF. Ref Dionte Johnson current contract. Baltimore won’t get anything in return for that lost free agent.

If the team doesn’t screw this up by winning too many games, 1.01 will be QB and the team will target a stud WR very early as #2 behind DK.

Steelers traded AB for a 3rd and 5th after he lost his mind, traded Claypool for a 2nd after he lost his mind, traded Dionte Johnson for scraps after he lost his mind, and just got a 3rd for a child. Learn before you spout off how stupid the steelers are. This can help Dallas, they still need a QB, but 2 highlight reel WRs now at least. No running game, but 2 WRs. Jerry is happy.

No teams needs 12 picks in a draft unless your roster is complete garbage, which the Steelers is not. Also, Pickens is a FA after this year, and will demand $25M or more no matter what he does this year. Steelers werent resigning him. But they can sign any FA WR next year. They will have the money to spend. Pierce, Wicks, Doubs, McLaurin, Sutton.....

Cincy had 9 wins and picked 17th. 8 wins will be in the mid teens, and to move up to 8-10 isnt that big a move. Esp if a team has their QB already. To get 4 picks to move down 8 spots. You'd be insane to turn that down.

IMO we just paid more draft capital and salary to get older and no better at WR.
Should have tried to keep Fields if this plan was to go with kind of WR group. Idea of Rodgers worked a lot better to me when he had a lot of help.
