Does anyone know how long he is going to be out for? I am assuming this week he is out and then Philly has a bye the following week. Will we see him back in week 9?
I'm surprised more people aren't worried about this injury. Playing Rugby in college, I had a less severe concussion without memory loss and I still can't play sports to this day without severe headaches the next morning - I can't even get out of bed. I don't want to start any rumors, but don't be surprised if this ends up being far more serious than a 2-3 week injury.

D-Jax owner and I'm extrememly worried. The fact that he missed a game last year with a concussion, that this one was deemed severe, and all of the pressure on the NFL to address the issue is cause for major concern.Still holding out hope that he can come back in week 9 but would not be the least bit surprised if he misses most of the season.
Question: Does anyone remember the last time a player was out more than 3 weeks for a concussion in the NFL?
I can't remember it at all. That doesn't mean anything though. Jackson has 3 full weeks before his next game. I think he will be back and am not worried.

Troy Aikman? Trent Green? Steve Young? It more or less forces early retirement.
This sudden jerking movement leads to the misfiring of brain cells, causing symptoms of confusion, disorientation, memory loss, and double-vision. These symptoms can be recurrent and perpetual. Hall of Fame NFL Quarterbacks Troy Aikman and Steve Young, both forced into early retirement by multiple concussions, still complain of headaches, dizziness, and disorientation a decade after playing their last NFL game.
http://dynastychamp.wordpress.com/2010/09/...ussion-problem/I definitely understand Desean's age versus those guys, but it's still a concern. The more information that gets revealed about concussions, the more careful NFL players will be in considering their safety [to some extend, not sure how much exactly when the opportunity cost is tens/hundreds of millions of dollars]. Like I said earlier, I don't want to set off alarms, and I know it isn't a very large possibility of extended injury (more than 3 weeks), but it's a concern - especially considering his concussion history.

All concussions are different. Just because you or someone else had a concussion and was out X amount of days/weeks, doesn't mean DeSean's is the same. Seeing as how we are far more cautious these days with concussions, especially on people who have had them previously, I wouldn't be expecting DeSean to come back to play after the bye. As an owner of him I am hoping he does, but I am making plans to not have him for the rest of the year. If he comes back then it's a bonus.

I'm worried too. I hate to get rid of him, but I have bye week problems next week. I would just be short a guy on week 8, but I don't want to do that if Jackson is going to miss a significant amount of time.
