My concern is that with Desean out, the defense doesn't have to worry about the field being stretched as much. Maclin now gets doubled and the safety can watch McCoy/Celek a little closer. I guess Avant will start with maybe Smith manning the slot and Cooper becomes the deep threat when they go 4 wide? Desean hasn't had a typical year for him. Will this piss him off and he sulks weeks 11-17 or is it a wakeup call for him? If the latter, maybe now is the time to pull off a fast trade for him. Opinions?
you realize Cooper has been getting more snaps in 4 WR sets than Smith lately?
Did you mean 3WR sets? B/c if you really meant 4WR, then I don't see how what I wrote is at odds with what you wrote. I'm just suggesting that in 4 wide, where DJax would have been the primary deep threat now Cooper may have that role.
3 WR= Avant, Maclin, Desean, 4 WR= Avant, Maclin, Desean, and Cooper...smith is WR5
