Despite all the computations you know you could just dance to the rock and roll station or rock and roll to the dance station - Loaded thread (1 Viewer)

Mott  that coda, tho      So brilliant. Could listen to Mott for a long time.

Margo  that downbeat vibe wif Sunday morn coffee/cigs     Never better, and what got me thinking of it.

Wagner/Hunter/The "ANIMAL"   best live album evah?  :excited:  Best live album ever is Hanoi Rocks live at The Marquee
Just heard that lyric for the first time. I mean, really heard it. Yeah. So glad to have Lou Reed as songwriter emeritus for American rock n' roll.

Does that mean Hannibal Lecter wasn't really a villain or was the VU just misinformed?
It's vague. "There's some evil mothers..." may apply only to the line or the verse.

I prefer it to apply to the verse.

Heh.  :D

Despite all the imputations you know you could just go out and dance to the rock and roll station...and it was all right.

They feign attraction if your rich enough
Oh, there's a lot of feigning. That's why I thought the evil man tried to tell us they never did and villains always blink their eyes.

But it's apparently "faint." We have an unreliable narrator, ear, and Long Island accent to blame, I guess.

As usual I have no idea what you’re trying to say.

Sure. I get that.

I'm just quoting Lou Reed lyrics from Loaded. Some people got it. Within the song, there's a narrative about how evil men will tell you things untrue. I thought he said women never feign. Instead, our narrator told us women never faint.

I misheard a lyric. I'm now listening to Coney Island Baby by Lou Reed right now and I decided I want to play for coach.

Jenny says when she was just five years old there was nothing happenin' at all

Every time she puts on the radio there was nothing going down at all...

I'm listening to "New Age" today and thought of this thread.

"'Can I have your autograph?' he said to the fat, blond actress. You know I know everything you've done...anyway, I hate divorces. To the left is a marble kitchen. It was fun even for an hour."

"I'll come running to you, honey when you want me."

This was supposed to be a hit? Oh, Lou.

read that as "No Age" on first couple reads and thought it was pretty verbose for them

Jenny said when she was just five years old
Every time she puts on the radio there wasn't nothing going on at all
Then one fine morning she puts on a New York station

Despite all the implications you know you could just go out and dance to the rock/roll station and it was all right

I wonder. WCBS maybe. If we're talking true rock n' roll. But I'm not a native. Only got stations when I was driving through, so I'd imagine Lou's time period when Jenny was five and etc. are tough to pin down. Maybe I'll look that up, actually.

In the song "New Age" they tried to figure out the actress Lou was talking about but there really weren't any. He was just taking poetic license. I'm fairly certain it'll be similar here, but if he ever talked about it, I'll find out in a minute.

You won't care because it's Phish

That's not true. My favorite Phish moment came when I saw them at our college and they slammed into TNT straight from one of their jams (the AC/DC song "TNT," that is).

I have a love/hate affair with Phish. I think Junta is an incredibly interesting and well-done album. I can listen to it nakedly and at attention, and have when I was younger. What I couldn't get into was Phish culture, which was jam band culture, which wasn't my culture per se. But personally, I never disliked or disregarded Phish to the point where I found them anathema.

Whoops. I screwed up. I know you love setlists, Pip, so I checked.

It was "Highway To Hell." I could have sworn it was "TNT."

I'm guessing it's not this one as the setlist doesn't mention TNT, but I got a soundboard copy of that one soon after it happened because the band left one for the school library and my high school friend who went there took it out and made copies for himself and me.

They covered Highway to Hell pretty frequently in their early years. They didn't start covering Rock and Roll until 1998, when they performed Loaded in its entirety on Halloween. It's the Loaded song they have played the most since then.

And the only Loaded song they had played before Halloween 1998 was Sweet Jane at one show that summer. And yes, I was at that one too. They also played Sabotage for the first time that night.
