Details on Team Defenses (1 Viewer)

Why can't footballguys give details on the Team Defenses as they do for all of the players? How is Team Defense not worthy of getting a write up each week telling the subscribers why they are a good play or not a good play, etc.?? I find it mind boggling that fbg.com does not do this and never have for as long as I've been a subscriber (even in the free days)!!!

I've emailed Joe B. and others before but got no response...Can we at least get an answer as to why this is not done each week??

Anyone besides me have an opinion on this matter? I know many of you must have decisions to make on which D to start when you have several ranked at similar positions by the fbg.com staff...

Do I have any support here??

No doubt. I think there should be more detail as well. Maybe you should just go pay another site for this info. Hehehehehe:goodposting:

I second this. They get ten pounds of you-know-what into a five pound bag as it is, considering the dearth of content avialable on this site.

I could be mistaken, and I obviously can't speak for the owners, but I believe there was more IDP info added in the last couple of years due to requests from subscribers. So even though JB hasn't directly replied to your email, I would guess that if enough requests were made for at least a summaization of the info that Norton and Bramel compile into an overall team synopsis may well be on their list for next year.

Probably kind of hard to add things like this this late in the season.

Edit for English was a second language

I think it has to do with the fact that team Def is SOO unpredictable, they don't take much time to analyze it. Just take a look at the rankings, they all are very close to one another. As a matter of fact, I don't really use any of the ranking detail FBG gives me, other than to compare who is playing who and maybe to use their data to decide against the 1-2 Def's I'm considering for the week. I was stoopid and drafted the Bears D in a relatively early round (8?), banking on them making my choices easy week in and week out. Needless to say I have held them all year, but I have used several TDBC backups since Hester has been kicked away from.

My favorite way to pick a Def in late season is to find a team with a backup, inexperienced QB and play the opposing D. INT's are usually plentiful, as well as sacks, and they don't usually score a lot (which is a factor in our scoring). Since this changes every week, I can usually find one on the waiver wire. Is this bullet proof? No, but I find this plan works pretty well even if it does not appear to factor in to any of the FBG rankings. And while most FF purists seem to view the TD position as a throwaway spot (since final YTD numbers are all pretty similar in the end), I think many FFL games are won and lost by not trying to maximize your weekly opportunities when they present themselves.

I've answered a few emails on this issue this season; I'm sorry that you haven't gotten an official reply from a staffer.Although I'm no fan of using team defenses :excited: , I understand the interest in covering team defenses. From our IDP staff perspective, we've chosen to focus solely on individual players rather than teams. Our magazine piece included short capsules on each team's overall defense but wasn't particularly fantasy based. We got a great freelance submission this summer from lionsfan78, which is hopefully a sign of things to come on the team defense coverage. Can't guarantee that there'll be increased coverage in 2008, but it's definitely on our offseason list of things to consider and discuss.

Well, I guess that is all I can ask for at this point in the season...I just feel it'd be helpful to owners out there, including me, to have at least a one paragraph blurb about each team's upcoming opponent and how it appears a particular TD will do v. the opposing offense.I look forward to this being added to the fbg.com menu for 2008...Thanks!Joel in Oklahoma City
