Detroit RB situation (1 Viewer)

Everyone is ignoring that fact that he has one of the toughest upcoming schedules for RBs in the league. He could probably tear up defenses with soft middles, too bad he doesn't face very many.
one of the reasons why I'm trying to deal him. Right about now in the season we generally know who the teams are...who can run, who can stop the run, stop the pass, etc.. SOS is extremely important and I'll deal a guy with more talent (in redraft) for a worse RB with a great schedule. I think Leshoure will be a workhorse and get the carries, I just think he's going to have a lot of Benson type stat lines.

Exactly, I've been basing all of my recent trades off of SOS. He faces CHI, SEA, MIN and HOU within the next 7 weeks. That tells me that he's barely worth the flex play in more than 3/4 of next 7 upcoming matches. If you're looking to make the playoffs within that time frame, Leshoure is not your guy. Trade him while he still has a strangle hold on the starting gig and holds value.

I'm still stashing Kevin Smith, but he's the first guy I'll cut if needed. I doubt Smith will outright supplant Leshoure, even if he looks bad the next few games, but I can't see any way LeShoure makes it though the entire 1st season after a ruptured achilles.

This is one of the reasons I like JBell in this backfield. This maybe flawed thinking, but I think the fact that DET faces strong defensive lines increase the likelyhood that we will see more of Bell in passing situations? In my PPR league, Bell has earned 9.3, 10.7 and 13.4 points over the past 3 weeks.. pretty good stat lines for an RB5/6, based mostly on passing.

There is a lot of unknown about the RB situation in DET right now and a tough schedule no matter who is the starting RB. But it seems like a lot of people are close to totally discounting the chance that Leshoure might actually be good. He has played two games, the second playing through an injury against a good run defense and has 197 yards and a TD. I am certainly not sold on Leshoure as an RB1 or even strong RB2 moving forward but this is a guy that looked very talented in college and has a skill set that none of the other DET RBs can offer. Smith, Best and Bell might well be battling for spot work and third down back snaps, but Leshoure is the only back there that has shown any potential as a true RB1.

The Lions want to use the run game to force the safeties up. You do that by pounding the ball and Leshoure clearly has the most potential on the roster as a pounder.

Javid's career is likely over.

Mikel LeShoure seesm to be the lead back but I still like Joique Bell and think he is listed as the backup and he's getting some looks as a third down back. If Mikel gets dinged or has a relapse Joique could quickly become a backup to gain value IMHO.

Hard to envision Jahvid Best playing again

If Jahvid Best isn't ready to resume his playing career one full year after his most recent concussion, will he ever? That's a fair question to ask after the Detroit Lions confirmed in a statement that he "will not be permitted return to play at this time" after a latest round of post-concussion testing.

Best Best hasn't played or engaged in football contact since Oct. 16, 2011. The Lions were hoping he would be cleared Monday and activated from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, but general manager Martin Mayhew said: "Throughout this entire process we always have placed the highest priority on what is best for Jahvid from a health and safety standpoint."

I don't have the details many of you are looking for. Best said recently that he has been symptom-free for months. So why hasn't he been cleared? I don't know. The Lions' statement is carefully worded, and it doesn't say who made the ultimate decision that he "will not be permitted to play at this time." Was it doctors? Best and/or his family? The Lions? The statement says only that the determination came after "today's consultation with medical experts, including representatives from [the Lions'] medical and training staffs," and there is really no sense in speculating beyond that.

What we can say is that it's highly unlikely Best will play for the Lions this season. The NFL allows for a three-week window, beginning Monday, for players to be activated from the PUP list. If the window closes without activation, the player is ineligible for the remainder of the season.

The reasons are unknown, but the bottom line is Best hasn't progressed enough over the past 12 months to resume his career. How likely is it that something could change over the next three weeks? Best said last week he went three months between his two most recent tests. I wonder if he'll even be tested again before the PUP window closes.

In his statement, Mayhew said the team will continue working with Best "with the hope that he ultimately will be cleared to return to the playing field." I have to assume that won't come before 2013 -- if ever. At that point, he would be hoping to play after a nearly two-year absence. I'm not sure I can envision that in today's era of concussion awareness. Can you?

So I'm seeing if Leshoure is a buy low target right now. He's clearly the "main" RB for the Lions as he gets the most RB touches. But the Lions used Bell exclusively around the goal line on MNF. Bell looks to be the main 3rd down RB as well, even though Leshoure caught a few passes too. Both RBs fumbled in the red zone, but Bell's was right at the goal line. I wonder if they give Leshoure a chance at the goal line carries because of that. He's fumbled twice in 3 weeks after never fumbling in college. What are your thoughts on this situation?

If I could, I'd take a wait and see approach this week. They're playing Seattle and don't see either back having much success against that D. If Leshoure gets even more touches, then maybe you buy low. That offense is definitely a mess though, looks really out of sync. I should know, I own Leshoure and Megatron.

I am a frustrated Leshoure owner but my whole RB situation is jacked up (DMC, Mendy, Leshoure, LSH, Tanner). I am in a desperate place using him as a RB3/Flex, but my objective side is telling me to give him a little more time to grow into the offense. He's only had 4 games but I think they are telling, because his breakout game was against crappy Tennessee D, and then like a brick wall he went up against MIN, PHI and CHI and really did not produce. To echo others, Bell is getting carries near the goal line. So, in between the lines here, he doesn't put numbers up against good defenses, and the coaching staff doesn't think he can pound the rock. So in that limited body of work I'm not extremely hopeful, since those were two division games, and all were in conference. So, why am I holding him again?

haha, I guess the same reason I'm looking to get him. Touches/opportunities are gold for a RB these days. He seems to get the most, but the lack of goal line looks is what really has me hesitant. It's kind of odd. He can be a 1st and 2nd down RB but not the goal line RB? I thought he ran well all things considered vs the Bears too.
