DETROIT TIGERS OFFICIAL: We are decent!!!! (2 Viewers)

Another series win vs a high quality ball club in the Cubs. Flaherty was really snapping the ball in and Kahnle/Vest finished the job.

The Tigers have had 2 grueling stretches where they played 23 games in 24 days. They went 15-8 in one and 14-9 in the other. Pretty damn impressive.

Good to get those out of way. The rest of the schedule could play out well if they continue to avoid rainouts. Fewer double headers to tax this sometimes fragile pitching staff.

After a lot of good news a series loss. I have to give Cincinnati credit for getting it done. De La Cruz is the real deal, definitely the best player in the series. Tigers made unforced errors, something they usually don't.

Tigers get a series win but the bigger story is their reclamation project that started the game. Almost 4 years between major league starts,
Dietrich Enns looked very impressive throwing 5 innings of one hit ball.

Good win for Mize, probably their #2 pitcher right now. Wouldn't mind some help with added arms, both starting and bullpen.

I know the hitting can be inconsistent but I like the current lineups they can put out there. For those looking right handed hitting, they can have an all RH infield of Dingler, Tork, Torres, Baez, Vierling with Perez and Jones as options for the outfield/DH spots in the lineup. Greene, Carpenter, Zach, Keith, Meadows as the left handers.

Hoping the ace comes up with another gem tomorrow night. ⚾

As a Cubs homer, I am tremendously happy for Javy Baez and his selection as an All-Star starter.

He was a beloved member of the 2016 team. I was sad to see him traded away but that trade brought back Pete Crow-Armstrong. I know he has had struggles, but it is great to see him battle back and prosper for the Tigers.

Congrats El Mago.

Baez starting in the All-Star game is one of the most unbelievable stories in my life as a sports fan.

The bubble burst today. Enns got hammered.

While he would probably only serve as a regular season stopgap, the weekend radio host was touting this guy currently pitching in AAA. Could be an alternative to the somewhat inconsistent bullpen days Hinch has been employing as the fifth starter. Throws something called a "knuckle drop" pitch.

Tigers finish off a road sweep vs Cleveland, nicely done. Skubal at his usual near perfection plus a late inning offense that eventually showed up, after an entire series of struggles vs the Cleveland pitching staff.

They look like a team that lost focus the last week before the break and were planning their vacation a little too early. They also look like a team that could use an infusion of talent to bolster what they have, especially in the bullpen.

But having said that, they really did have a great first half, lots of players many of us had given up on stepping up big. A double digit lead in the division and the best record in baseball. I don't recall anyone predicting that. Now it's up to the players and management to keep it up when in counts down the stretch.

They definitely need a couple of late inning bullpen arms. Kahnle has been getting hammered lately so there is a lot of concern there. Vest can't do it by himself.

Every time I watch Kahnle pitch his stuff look so mediocre at best. Would never trust him late in a big game. Throw a change 75% of the time and when it hangs it is like batting practice.
