But they probably should have had Nick bunt, but few teams do that.I approve of pulling Miggy for a PR here FTR

Yeah I wouldn't have done that either but that was a disappointing outcome with the weak flyball/pop up and Aviles just being himself. Last thing this team needed was a damn extra innings game. But they probably should have had Nick bunt, but few teams do that.I approve of pulling Miggy for a PR here FTR
I would have preferred Fister to Pelfrey also, but their relative value is pretty similar. Agree that second year seems dumb, but I think we all said that when we heard about it. And Pelfrey is a better option than Anibal right now, which makes my head hurt.Jesus..they are the same stat wise. I like that Fister only got one year at 7 which is the same type of deal Pelfrey should had been offered.
"Sanchez's inning of work, by the way, almost certainly means Daniel Norris will be called up to take Matt Boyd's spot in the rotation for the series finale Thursday. Ausmus said that decision would be made Tuesday."Thursday would be a good day to give Daniel Norris a try.
I'd rather see him get one more turn in Toledo, but the Mariners are a decent matchup - 17th in OPS vs. lefties, only 4 of which have an OPS > 800 (Cruz, Gut, Iannetta, and Lee). Plus if they throw Sampson as scheduled then it isn't one of those lose today to win tomorrow sorta games in which a sacrificial lamb is throw out there just to chew up some innings then sent back to AAA the next day. 4 of 5 QS, 3 of which with very strong K:BB numbers, no HR's given up in 6 starts, and the bullpen needs a break...yeah, it's time. Hopefully JV and Fulmer go deep today and tomorrow though.Thursday would be a good day to give Daniel Norris a try.
And Romine. There has to be someone in toledo better than aviles right??
I was promised a good Verlander this year. I'm extremely disappointed, but remain hopeful.
i hope he has a really short lease, but with the bullpen getting worked so hard I doubt it. I would try to save Greene for some long relief on Saturday.I just read on freep website that Sanchez is starting Saturday. That is Pelfrey's scheduled start day.

Good, double play ball helped him but he got Cruz to do that so that in itself is impressive. He walked Cano, but it's possible they told him to be careful with Cano since he's so ####### hot right now.I missed the game. Can anyone tell me how Rondon looked?
Yesterday Baseball Prospectus called him the best relief pitcher in the minors, forgot to mention that.Another routine day at the office for Joe Jiminez...struck out the side. So far in AA Erie, 8 IP, allowed no runs, 4 hits, 1 walk, and 16 strikeouts.
It's time Tigers.![]()
why they skipping him? just an innings count thing?Norris confirmed for Thursday.
Also Fulmer will pitch tomorrow but his next start will be skipped. And so it begins.
Yeah. They can get away with it because of off days most weeks, he would have been scheduled to pitch Monday if they had a game. So no game Monday, Sanchez Saturday for Pelfrey, Pelfrey on Tuesday and then I guess Norris, JZimm, JV, and then Fulmer. But I'm guessing they see what Sanchez and Norris both do before really figuring this out.why they skipping him? just an innings count thing?
So Fulmer's start vs. MIA on the 28th will be skipped but he'll start @ TB on July 3? Damn was counting on him for a 2 start week next weekDoctor Detroit said:Also Fulmer will pitch tomorrow but his next start will be skipped. And so it begins.
Saturday may be one of those lose today to win tomorrow sorta games. If it goes bad for Sanchez then throw out a guy like Molleken to eat some innings then send him back to Toledo after the game.jon_mx said:i hope he has a really short lease, but with the bullpen getting worked so hard I doubt it. Agree with pulling Fulmer there, he looked really shaky really quick. No reason to risk his confidence or any kind of injury.
Nice job of Ryan to get out of it.
I know as a Tigers fan you don't care but I hate that he's not going to get a win out of this :( (nobody cares about your team, Fred!). But I'm fall in favor of whatever helps him for the long run![]()
I agree as well, but have to wonder why he doesn't do the same when Pelfrey (or Sanchez) struggle.Doctor Detroit said:Agree with pulling Fulmer there, he looked really shaky really quick. No reason to risk his confidence or any kind of injury.

Word this morning was that Fulmer was light-headed, experiencing shortness of breath. Didn't feel good all day.I agree as well, but have to wonder why he doesn't do the same when Pelfrey (or Sanchez) struggle.
Agree. I could bump what I said pre-season, and I will eventually, but Fulmer/Norris was what I thought was the key to the season. Both have their faults but if these guys can deliver and the team gets legit bullpen help with guys like Greene, Rondon, and Jimenez then this team is a contender.VMart helped Brad look brilliant today.
The addition of Rondon and Greene to the bullpen has been huge.
####### miracle, unbelievable. Looked like a 7-6 game with a runner at 2nd and one out. oofThat was a pretty good catch
