Deuce this week (1 Viewer)

Marino's Legacy

Footballguy
I have to admit I was shocked to see Deuce ranked so low this week with Bush out again. I was pretty excited since I have to start him in two leagues, now I'm concerned.

With all those injuries to the Chiefs D, I still put Deuce near the top of the RB list this week and I'll probably start him over Jacobs in the league I have a choice in.

I'd certainly like to think he'd get a good amount of touches this week, but I thought the same thing last week at Atlanta and he only came away with 5 carries for 18 yards, along with 2 rec. for 23 yards and a TD. Thomas had 6 carries while Stecker had 3. I know they were playing from behind, but the shared carries still bothered me and still worries me this week. Having had T. Jones in my lineup Thursday night, Deuce would be playing a flex role, and right now I'm leaning towards putting Michael Jenkins in that spot (at home vs. Denver).

Can anyone talk me into it ? If I thought Deuce was going to get 15+ carries this week I would play him. Last week, against a good matchup against ATL 5/18 and both Stecker and Thomas were involved.

Positives,

1. Facing Bad defense, made worse by injuries

2. Might carry the ball 15 times and has scored a TD in each of last 2

Negatives.

1. Last game shared carries w/Stecker(3-21) and Thomas(6-26, 5-34), with Deuce getting (5/18, 2/23-1)

2. KC offense playing better, keeping the defense off the field.

3. Touched the ball once in second half last week(but it was for a TD).*

4. Mike Karney out his week. This worries me, as I am concerned Deuce is on the field for the packages with a FB*

This is certainly a case of MAJOR overthinking on my part, will he get the 15 carries ? with one or two being redzone/goal line chances ? If he does he is a great play. I have switched him in/out of my lineup this week several times already.

*I recall many years ago, when Deuce was a Stud. Complaining about running in One back sets and begging the coaching staff to give him a lead blocker. Pretty much ancient history now and there have been lots of changes since that time. Was Deuce not on the field much in second half because Karney was out ? or was it just due to them playing from behind.

Just posted by Michael Fabiano at NFL.com, FWIW:

Deuce McAllister appears in line for a lot of touches against the Chiefs, as the New Orleans Saints have ruled Reggie Bush (knee) out for Week 11. That’s good news for fantasy owners who have McAllister.

He’ll continue to start and draw the lion’s share of carries. As a result, McAllister should be seen as a viable No. 2 fantasy back against the Chiefs, who rank dead last in the league against the run.

Aaron Stecker will also see time on passing downs, but he’s no more than a desperation flex starter.

I would say that "appears" would be the key word here.

If I'm not mistaken, NO was well behind much of the game last week. They were in pass mode most of the second half. That probably had an impact on the number of 2nd half touched by Deuce.I would guess that, if playing even or ahead, Deuce would get significant touches.

I am playing Deuce in one of my leagues, but that team's RBs aside from Gore are nothing to get excited about, so it wasn't a very tough decision.
