[DEVY] 2021 NFL Draft Prospects (1 Viewer)

Memphis redshirt junior WR Damonte Coxie caught eight passes for 132 yards in a 53-39 loss to Penn State in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Saturday.

Coxie (6'3/197) continued to be the primary option for Memphis' passing game, leading the team in both receptions and yardage in the loss. His stellar rapport with QB Brady White was on full display as the two hooked up for some pretty impressive timing routes, including a perfectly executed 41-yard throw and catch that setup a short Patrick Taylor Touchdown rush. Coxie caught 76 passes for 1,276 yards and nine touchdowns this year, his second straight season recording over 70 receptions and 1,100 yards. He announced immediately after the game that he will be returning for his senior season.

He announced after the game that he was returning for his senior season - making him eligible for the 2021 NFL Draft.
Never heard of him.  Can’t be that good if he’s returning for his senior season AND he redshirted a year.

BYU junior TE Matt Bushman announced on Saturday that he will return to school for his senior season.

Bushman (6'5/245) was viewed as a player likely to forego his final season of eligibility to turn pro, but the junior tight end has decided to return to Provo for the 2020 campaign. In 2019 he caught 47 passes for 688 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Cougars in receiving yards. Bushman, who according to Pro Football Network draft analyst Tony Pauline received Day 3/UDFA feedback from some NFL scouts, will be one of the top contenders for the John Mackey Award (given to the nation's best tight end) next fall.

Oklahoma State junior WR Tylan Wallace (knee) will return to school for the 2020 season.

Wallace (6'0/185) is one of the most dynamic receivers in the country when healthy, but was waylaid in 2019 by a torn ACL sustained in a late October practice. Rather than roll the dice on a draft declaration, the junior wideout will look to turn in a fully healthy 2020 season with the Cowboys (think of it as a "show cause" season on the health front). During a clean 2018 campaign, Wallace logged an 86-1491-12 receiving line in 13 games.

Oklahoma State junior WR Tylan Wallace (knee) will return to school for the 2020 season.
Makes a lot of sense for him given the depth of this class and probable slide due to injury. He was a guy I saw slipping in rookie drafts as well for the same reasons.

Florida junior WR Trevon Grimes announced that he will return to school for the 2020 season.

Grimes wasn't expected to declare anyway, but it's always noteworthy to see player's confirm they will be back for their senior season. Grimes caught 33 passes for 491 yards and three touchdowns in 2019, none of which ranked top-three on the team. At 6-foot-5, 214-pounds, Grimes has enticing size and flashes of great potential, but he will need to show significant development as a senior. With top WRs Van Jefferson and Freddie Swain both on their way out, Grimes will have every opportunity to shine in 2020.

Can’t we just list significant players, or ones that are perceived as significant, not some player who will be a senior and not even in the top three on his team?  I think it clutters the thread with TMI.  Thanks.

Oklahoma State redshirt sophomore RB Chuba Hubbard announced he will be returning to school for the 2020 season.

Hubbard (6'1/207) had a chance to be one of the top RBs in the 2020 draft class. His play making ability, driven by his raw speed, is among the best in the country. It's no accident Hubbard was one of just seven players to rush for at least 20 touchdowns in 2019. Alas, Hubbard is opting to go back to school for one more season, sticking around with the rest of Oklahoma State's offensive trio in QB Spencer Sanders and WR Tylan Wallace.

I traded for the 1.1 in a 14 team ppr devy league and I'm taking Chase with the pick unless he he murders someone or gets hit by a bus.

Is it official that Harris is returning?
He has until Friday to make a final decision; however, it appears that he is returning:

Najee Harris expected to return to Alabama, pass on NFL draft

Has Najee Harris informed coaches of his intent to return?

Najee Harris back in Alabama

Chris Breece of CBS 42 reports that Alabama junior RB Najee Harris informed the coaching staff that he will return for his senior season.

Big potential coup here for the Tide, who already got a few over the past few weeks when WR DeVonta Smith and LT Alex Leatherwood announced their returns to campus. Harris (6'2/230) rushed for 1,224 yards and 13 TD over 13 games as a junior. He likely would have been a mid-rounder had he declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. Bama will rely on the running game far more in 2020 with QB Tua Tagovailoa off to the NFL and the possibility of a true freshman (Bryce Young) starting behind center, which had to figure into Harris' decision.

Mississippi State RB Kylin Hill announced that he's returning for his senior year.

A very good decision amid a stacked running back class. Also a fascinating one, as Hill returns to play a season in Mike Leach's Air Raid. Hill is a multi-faceted back who has caught 44 balls in three years. We expect him to top 50 next year -- perhaps even easily. In 2019, Max Borgi caught 86 at Wazzu. The year before, James Williams and Borgi combined for 136. Year before that, Williams and Jamal Morrow, 131. Leach's backs get targeted in the passing game as much as anyone's backs. And we already know Hill can run that rock. He galloped for 1,350 yards and 10 TD last year on 5.6 YPC in Joe Moorhead's last offense, which wasn't exactly high-powered. Leach isn't terribly excitable. But lord knows he's air joisting with a pirate sword to Neil Young in celebration in his Starkville office right now.

Jamie Newman is going to take Georgia to a level they missed this pass year. He’s better than Fromm in every way.

Tex

Figured I would transfer some info over here since I went through most every school in the FBS. Here are the top five players at WR and RB for total team offense from 2019 returning next season:

RB

Jaret Patterson* Buffalo 39.6%
Chuba Hubbard* OkST 38.6%
Xazavian Valladay* Wyoming 32.2%
Rakeem Boyd* Arkansas 31.6%
Kylin Hill* Mississippi St. 31.4%

WR

Rashod Bateman* Minnesota 22.8%
Tre Walker* San Jose St. 22.4%
Chatarius Atwell* Louisville 22.4%
Austin Watkins* UAB 22.1%
David Bell Purdue 22.1%

*draft eligible

Chase is so going to plummet next year without Burrow.

Remember when Justyn Ross was the 1.01 after his breakout?  I think the same thing happens with Chase over next season... Chase loses value because his production suffers without Burrow.

I still love Chase, just don't want to pay Devy 1.01 to watch him slide almost for sure when others put up better production.

For Ross it had nothing to do with QB play.  I said previously Chase will have some regression without Burrow, but we don’t take players for our fantasy teams for that reason.  If you believe in Chase at the next level you don’t let some regression next year sway you.

I think it had a little to do with QB play, but my point was just that reduced production usually equals reduced value.

I believe in him, but I know the devy and dynasty market as well.  Fickle, recency biased bunch we all are.

Not me unless injury is in play.  I don't want to be one who can't see the forest through the trees.

Is there any thoughts right now on comparing the strengths of the 2020 Draft Class versus the 2021 Draft Class?

QB:

Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, etc. vs. Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert, Jordan Love, Jacob Eason

I feel like the edge here goes to the 2021 class.

RB & WR:

2020 vs 2021 Rookie NFL Draft Class (Dynasty Fantasy Football)

While the 2020 WR Class is amongst the deepest that we have ever seen, the 2021 WR Class is nothing to sneeze at. I think that I give a slight edge to the 2021 class due to the top 5 being better in my estimation and due to the fact that other 2021 WR prospects could emerge. I fully admit that I could be wrong in this viewpoint because the 2020 WR class is deep and has some quality prospects at the top of the class.

The 2020 RB Class was poised to be exceptionally good; however the decisions of Travis Etienne, Najee Harris, and Chubba Hubbard to return to school for one more year took some of the lustre away from the 2020 class. I give the edge right now to the 2020 RB class.

TE:

Top tight end prospects to watch in the 2021 NFL Draft

The 2021 TE Class is better.

Disclaimer: It is always dangerous to look a year ahead as things can change over the course of the college football season and you can always fall into the “just wait until next year’s draft class” trap.

That behind said, it may pay dividends if you can move a late 1st round 2020 pick for a 2021 pick that ends up being an earlier pick. If you have the opportunity to turn a 2020 second round pick into a 2021 first round pick, that could also pay dividends.

As good as the 2021 class is at TE, I'm starting to think I don't want to use a devy pick on a TE since they take so long to develop, no matter how good they are projected to be, especially if there is only 1 round of a devy draft.  I drafted T J Hockenson last year as an example.  While I think he will be good, it's a matter of when.  I may just look to buy highly ranked TEs cheaper after they bust their first couple of years.
