Did you smoke more pot/take more gummies after it became legal in your state? (2 Viewers)

I have a buddy that jokes that the problem with edibles is that once you're on that train you're on it until the end and you can't get off.
True. It also leads to the problem when you reach a point where you feel the high is beginning to subside and you want just a little boost back. Do you eat another gummy and wait?

I almost always just do edibles at night so there's never a second dose.

I think the couple of times I have, yeah, if it's been three hours and I'm starting to feel the effects I'll take a lesser amount (or if I did 5 mgs I'll take another 5 assuming it kicks back in ~45 minutes from then) provided I want to remain a bit high. I know I did this during the Vikings playoff game last year, but I haven't done it all that often.

Supplement with a couple puffs
This would be the way to go, but I rarely have anything smokable around. Don't want to deal with the odors and my lungs do not enjoy smoking much any more.

The unreliable nature of edibles pretty much eliminates them as an option for me. Partly because of the risk of having a bad time (happened twice to me, both times at home thankfully) but even more so because of the numerous times I've waited for an hour or two until I realized nothing was going to happen. Do I eat two, should I eat a third? I don't need that kind of killbuzz in my life. The number of times they've really worked for me are few and far between, and most of those came from GM's peanut-butter cookies. My go to these days is a hand-held dry vape that I use with herb. I don't like smoking and the vape is so easy and convenient. I often hit it on my bike commute home after work. I'm not in a legal state but no matter really because my local sources are better than taking the hour drive to a dispensary anyway - much cheaper and the quality is just as good. I do like the novelty of the edible products and disposable vapes, but its so expensive with mostly disappointing results. My state has legal states on all borders now, but it doesn't really matter to me anymore. The only time I make the trip to a dispensary is mostly just to have a fun road trip with some buddies. I am going to cook up a batch using GM's recipe with a friend later this summer. I can't do it at my house due to teenagers at home, so will spend a day with my friend and his wife and hopefully come home with a jar of infused baking products.

Before medical passed in Florida, I had to drive 25 miles to my supplier. Since then, there are 5 or 6 dispensaries within a 10-15 min drive, so I do smoke more now I guess because I know I'm always a few minutes/miles away from a pot shop and can get whatever I need any time.

I'll be in California all next week. I think I'm going to focus on sampling edibles more than craft beer.

Highly recommend tinctures. Straight to the bloodstream sublingually and bypass the liver/digestion phase. The only 'edible' that works for me.
Do you need to eat saturated fat at the same time?

Bypassing the digestion phase eliminates all that stuff
Walk me thru how this bypasses digestion. I don't think can get this in Texas anyways so don't waste too much effort on response

NYer here. Smoke shops popping up everywhere. Very weird for me as a NYer to walk into this huge storefront with an enormous selection of THC products. Walk out totally paranoid I’m gonna get arrested. But it sure is a nice send off before bed.

Am I the only one smoking more of this stuff after it became legal?
if I'm not mistaken on your residence I'd suggest the next time you go out East you hit a reservation for a tax free and a less limiting edible purchase.

Just google sublingual. Common method for administering drugs, vitamins, etc.

Close friend of mine has a solid delivery service out to Long Island. shoot me a pm for the plug

First recreational dispensary in Central New York opened a few weeks ago. Finally got out to it yesterday and smoked my first joint in 30 years last night. And got the first passive aggressive ***** session from my wife about how it was obvious and the neighbors would know. So I'm guessing my plan of lowering her anxiety and inhibitions is DOA.

Ask her, man.

MINNESOTA
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Minnesota will become the 23rd state to legalize recreational marijuana on Tuesday.
One of the first parts of the law that will take effect: allowing Minnesotans to grow up to eight cannabis plants in their homes. And the seeds they'll need to do it will be available on store shelves that same day.
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture will regulate weed seeds like they would any other by enforcing labeling and testing requirements under the state's seed law.

Our seed program is really about truth in labeling and consumer protection so that the consumer knows what they are getting," said Michael Merriman, seed regulatory supervisor at the agency. You read that label and you should know exactly what to expect from that label—how much seed is in this package, what kind is it? Is it lettuce, asparagus, cannabis?"

Businesses seeking to supply seeds to retail stores need to be permitted with the department and have specific information, including how much seed there is per package, the name of the company labeler, and a lot number, which traces the seeds' origin. The law requires testing for contaminants and germination, or how many seedlings the type will yield.

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture can issue violations if seed labelers run afoul of the law and regulators do routine inspections and investigate complaints from consumers, which they can file online.

"We are able to take samples of things and test them using our lab and then compare if what's on the label matches what's with the [state] test," Merriman said.

Some in the industry joke that plants in new legal markets grow by "immaculate conception," since marijuana is still considered a Schedule I controlled substance by its federal definition—making it illegal to cross state lines and raising questions about if seed faces the same restrictions.

Vicente LLP, a law firm that works on cannabis issues, did receive a letter with guidance from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration last year that said the federal government doesn't consider seeds to fall under that prohibition because they have less than 0.3% THC, the psychoactive ingredient that produces a high, on a dry weight basis.

That means those marijuana seeds meet the definition of hemp, which is legal at the federal level as of 2018, according to the agency's letter to the firm obtained by WCCO.

Merriman and others at the Minnesota Department of Agriculture fielded questions about cannabis seeds during a webinar Wednesday. He said one of the biggest misconceptions among attendees was who needs to be permitted—seed labelers are different than retailers, who don't need to seek a permit in order to sell seeds in their stores.

Green Nectar Cultivation is a new business that sought a state license for seed labeling. Owner Ian Davis said he first started the company in 2019 to get into a fledging hemp industry, but the pandemic derailed those plans.

When state lawmakers legalized recreational marijuana this session, he wanted to seize the opportunity.

"As soon as that happened, we were go time," Davis said in an interview with WCCO. "It was time to brainstorm to see what's legal, what is available to bring to the market on the first, what's the soonest available thing we can sell and its seed

His company plans to supply seeds in seven retail stores across Minnesota starting next week. Eventually, Davis also would like to tap into future cannabis business opportunities under the new law, which sets up a regulatory framework for retail sales and manufacturing of cannabis products.

There are 10 business licenses for the adult-use market, and more for medical cannabis and low-dose hemp THC-infused edibles. It will likely be at least a year before those businesses are operational because a new state regulatory agency—the Office of Cannabis Management—is still in its infancy.

"I really wanted to get into this industry to help reallocate some funds to the communities decimated by the war on drugs," Davis said.

Starting August 1, Minnesotans can have up to two pounds of cannabis flower in their home and two ounces on their person while out and about in public. To learn more about the law, click here.

The policy at every state I am aware of in regards to how cultivations get their seeds is don't ask/don't tell.

Minnesota not messing around with quantity limits. It's important to keep two ounces of weed on your person at all times, in case you happen to run into Snoop Dog, Cheech Marin, and the entire Cypress Hill tour bus simultaneously.

Does a Delta 8 high compare in any way to pot?
Yes, imo the buzzes compare

I ate delta 8 gummies for awhile, I think I posted about them here. I’ve switched to vape cartridges 6-8 months ago and like them WAY better. High in 5 mins, lasts pretty much all day for me

Just the opposite for me. Felt almost nothing just really tired. If you want to fall asleep, Delta 8 could be useful. I'd stick to the natural stuff but different strokes I suppose.

I've been replacing some of my craft beer drinking with 10mg zero sugar drinks. Mostly because an equivalent IPA has like 400 calories and the THC drink has zero and it's a nice chill buzz on a Saturday or Sunday night.

Yeah definitely opposite

Some people can’t get the real stuff

I guess folks in North Korea can't but it's everywhere in the US. Just ask around and you're bound to find someone with a connect. I don't live in a legal state but you wouldn't know it with how many people smoke freely (Texas)

So, if I were to buy 2 pounds to take home and get stopped on the way... :oldunsure:

My neighbors are fine. And I’m pretty sure they know because as I coughed and sputtered after my first toke, someone called over the hedge “You gotta take it slow easing back in!”

Yeah I like these especially because it’s easy to vary the dose, they seem to last me quite awhile too

Almost out and it seems most of the local places don’t have any, although I didn’t check that hard. couple places by work I can see if they have online, if not I’ll make the drive to the store I used to go to until they cut back their delivery radius

Not recommended.

(Serious advice: My understanding is that in states without recreational use, "I smell marijuana" still counts as probable cause for a patrol officer to search your vehicle. You do not want that to happen. Maybe that has softened in some states with medical weed, but I would not want to be a test case here. Definitely stick to the speed limit, and also look for ways to keep the odor of flower under control during your drive home.)

Is anyone else getting non-stop ads on their Twitter feed for Cheech and Chong's Cruise Chews i.e. gummies? It's all day, every day.

They are advertised as "100% legal, Delta-9, 10:1 CBD to THC, for a safe, smooth ride, No synthetic chemicals – 100% Natural CBD + THC

Went to a Kentucky Derby party at my daughters home. My golf partner had given me a couple of gummies and I thought this would be a good time to try one.

Right before we leave I take one as he said it takes about 30 minutes to kick in. I get there and it an outdoor party with 25-30 people. Not feeling much as I have my first beer, about 15-20 minutes later I am so high I can`t stand it. I put sunglasses on and am trying to act normal when my wife says to me "What is wrong with you? you are acting weird." Of course I did not tell her I took one. An hour in I can`t take it as now I am high as a kite, paranoid, don`t want to be around anyone and it is only 4 in the afternoon.

Had only smoked week a few times in my life and that was 30 years ago so forgot what it was like to be stoned.

It is pretty vibrant there in the backyard with people partying, so I act like I am going to the bathroom and slip out the front door. Go sit in my vehicle listening to music and trying to come down. Took about another 30 minutes before I finally leveled off to where I could be around people again. Did not enjoy the ride at all!!

At golf the next week I told my partner what happened and he said "You did not take the whole thing did you?..I said take a half to start if you are not used to it" I did not remember him saying that.

Never again.

Not around other people! And the moral of the story here is never trust a golf buddy when it comes to mind-altering substances. I had a very similar first experience where a golf buddy gave me a gummie, I ate the whole thing, and he proceeds to announce on the bus to the course that they're very strong and to not take the whole thing. That's what led to the contemplating hiding behind trees, having clear as day conversations with guys on my sophomore year dorm, and a front nine I have little to no memory of where I apparently played okay but drove everybody nuts because I kept giving a wrong score (I clearly wasn't cheating, I just genuinely had no idea how many strokes I had per hole).

Being secretive at a party is the totally wrong time to be experimenting with edibles.

makes for good content here though
Oh, for sure.

About the third time I had an edible (though, thankfully, just like 5 mgs) was when my wife told me she had invited a new friend of hers and her husband over. Now, usually, these scenarios are not great for me because oftentimes her friends have significant others that I don't have much in common with and my wife and her friend try to awkwardly force a friendship and it's an unpleasant experience. So, I figured I'd try to do something to relax a bit and just get into a smiling and nodding zone. Turns out, her new friend's husband is the main DEA officer for drug interdiction in northern Arizona. So me, in my profession (i.e. law enforcement officers don't usually love us defense attorneys), am now trying to carry a conversation with this guy and not make it obvious to this drug recognition expert that I'm high. And then it became a game to me as to whether I could appear totally normal to him or whether he would figure it out (I wasn't driving and recreational use was legal by this time so I wasn't worried about any actual issues if he had figured it out). I must have succeeded because he never said anything and we hung out several times thereafter and had golf plans before he was reassigned to a different state and moved away rather quickly.

As I stated earlier, based on these experiences I almost never ingest THC in public or group settings (or really around anybody except people I'm comfortable being high around) now but the stories of doing so are fun to share!

When I was in my vehicle childhood things that I had not thought about in decades were coming back clear as a bell. Some good, some bad. And I could not get them out of my mind.

When we went on a golf trip two years ago to North Carolina, 16 guys. 7-8 guys took gummies for the first time and it was a total disaster. Golfers who are 7-8s were shooting mid 90s and wanting to quit after 9. Others were just acting so stupid it was not fun. This is men in their 40s/50s who I have played with many times and they are serious golfers. Never seen them act that way ever on the course.

I should have learned from watching them that day.

Yep, that was unintentionally me on that day and I was in my late 30s. Though, playing probably as a 6 or 7, I fortunately shot mid-80s. But, I am oftentimes reminded about how out of it (and annoying) I was.

I tried weed one more time on the golf course and it frankly made me too carefree and less competitive. So, I stick to whisky.

I will say, though, that there are some guys who can play just fine on 20 mgs (in fact several guys from this same trip did so) and I have no clue how.

Exactly why we should all be high when we play.
But not when it's a team game for real money. I'm known as a fun but competitive guy on the golf course whose game gets better as the competition gets more intense. On this day, my partner was not pleased with carefree me and the score I happily shot (which wasn't good compared to my handicap) and the money it lost him.

When I was in my vehicle childhood things that I had not thought about in decades were coming back clear as a bell. Some good, some bad.

When we went on a golf trip two years ago to North Carolina, 16 guys. 7-8 guys took gummies for the first time and it was a total disaster. Golfers who are 7-8s were shooting mid 90s and wanting to quit after 9. Others were just acting so stupid it was not fun. This is men in their 40s/50s.

My league partner takes the same ones I took and I can`t tell if he is buzzed or not. Just seems normal. I thought I was going to OD.

This is how high I was, my mind was thinking he might have given me LSD gummies.

Exactly why we should all be high when we play.
I toook a 10mg gummy last time I went out. Played great (for me) for 12 holes because I was relaxed and didn't carry any bad shots with me. Last six I got the yips in my back shoulder and it was a shank/fat fest. Don't dip, don't dip, don't....F#%K!. Might try 5mg next time.
