Dion Lewis (1 Viewer)

I'll have to monitor reports, but I think if he's in, I have to start him. I have a bit of a logjam at RB this week (Lewis, Woodhead, Stewart, Hill) and as of now, Hill is the odd man out. If there's any indication Lewis will be limited, I'd sit him, but then again, what is the likelihood that BB would actually divulge that info beforehand?

 
I saw something about abdominal injury. I wonder if it's a cracked rib, and BB is trying to keep it quiet.

 
???? White was on the field quite a bit so not sure what you are referring to. Also, Brady noted in a monday morning radio interview that they made substantial changes to the game plan on saturday "based on who would be available" then mentioned lewis by name saying that he was originally a big part of the original gameplan. That lewis was originally a big part of the game plan can only be seen as a good thing. That he was expected to play earlier in the week and was a late scratch could be something (i.e. Setback) or nothing (ie so close he'll be in this thurs)...but his non participation in mobday's practice has me leaning toward the former. Fingers crossed he practices today.

I dont think they actually practiced. limited was based on a speculative guess.

If he's active, I would. Miami's run D isn't very good - although the team has obviously been much better since Philbin's been gone.

Don't make the mistake of judging Miami defense taking weeks 1-5 into account. After the philb firing they are a completely different team and the defense has been dominant.

I'll try not to make that mistake again. ;)

They have played Tennesee and Houston in those two games though - hardly offensive juggernauts and Tenn has no running game at all to speak of. Sooner or later the "juice" that comes with shaking things up wears off a bit. I think the Pats can run on the Phins. I'm starting Blount in the league I own him and will start Lewis in the leagues where I own him provided he gets a clean bill of health.

Correct. This was a mandatory injury report filing that was more hypothetical for the Pats given they didn't practice. Today we HOPEFULLY get better information.

I dont think so. Ill have Freeman and Charknado in at RB and Landry, Brown and Hopkins at my WR

I guess the only decision is Charc vs Dion and I want to see him healthy in a game before putting him back in

The "juice" in Miami's D is Cameron Wake. Wake is getting healthy on Miami's D-Line which is huge. The last 2 weeks he has devoured everyone in front of him. He's a game changer when in form. With the way Brady has been getting pressure from lesser lineman, I wouldn't be surprised to see Wake setting up a tent in the Pats backfield.

I can't figure out what this means for Lewis, though. Maybe someone more knowledgeable with the Pats can help: If Lewis plays - would this mean he's held in more to block? or maybe more dump passes? or more runs up the middle to avoid the rush from the outside?

There were no changes on the Patriots' injury report Tuesday. That means RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) remains a limited participant in practice. He will likely be questionable for Thursday's game against the Dolphins

 
It's not so far fetched that he was inactive Sunday against the Jets because of the scheme and not only that but also to have more rest for the Thursday night game?

For the scheme? Yes that is far fetched since he's great in the passing game and would have helped far more than White - but it is possible they felt they were better off having him close to 100% for the Dolphins game rather than getting a 50% version for both the Jets and Dolphins game.

Yeah the game set up perfectly for Lewis against the Jets. It is possible they thought they could win without him (which they did) and then hopefully have him healthy for this week. If you're a Lewis owner that's what you have to hope for.

 
I'm starting him in one league if he's active (because I do not like my alternatives at all); in another league, where my RB situation is comparatively terrific, I won't start him until he has a week w/ full participation in practice, I have no need to roll the dice in that league.

 
The dude is PPR gold but for now, just cannot start him over AP as my RB2. When healthy, I'm starting Dion due to his high PPR floor compared to AP, unless AP has great matchup.

 
Why is nobody talking about how ####### awful the pats running game was without him? Blount didn't even end the day with positive yards. I could not be any more enthusiastic about Lewis. Blount will get some work but he is showing over and over that he is good for one thing, running the clock on bad defenses. The pats saw last week what life without Dion is (and yes, that the jets are good too) andit was ugly. If he goes, I'm firing him up all day every day

 
Think you are under rating Blount there.

He's capable of doing a lot of things, he's surprisingly elusive for the role he plays. But he has become relegated to a particular role.

We will still see him get quite a few carries this year.

It was a very tough Jet front line and a game plan to stay away from the run game and it worked.

This is what makes this dang team under B&B so tough, they will rip up the game-plan each week.

Blount and Lewis are both RB2 quality

I think they would've at least made an attempt with Lewis in the spread look. He can run the ball. White really can't and Blount isn't really part of their base look. I do think NE's offense was dramatically different without Lewis. They won because Brady's playing lights out again but I think they definitely need Lewis. Without him, the threat of the running game is removed completely from their primary offense.

Hey Doc Oct I like your thinking. I also feel a big part of the NE game plan will be to establish the run and slow down the Miami pass rush. If Brady has to drop back 56 times it's gonna be a long night for the Pats.

Look for Reshad Jones to answer some of these questions on Thursday Night.

Agreed. They gave him three carries. It's hard to say he was awful on three carries against the leagues top run defense.

 
With Foster gone, I don't have much of a choice this week so I'll likely roll him out there. Even when he's healthy I don't particularly feel comfortable starting him. I can't stand owning NE backs.
